I really like this variant, the desert style knowhow thrown into a new locale is fresh. Having this kinda Predator facing off against Roman Centurians mistaking it for a rogue Barbarian would be neat too

I like how this less advanced (primitive by comparison) Yautja species have recognizable variations of the classic weapons. Instead of a plasma caster, it's a handheld dart gun. Instead of a gauntlet nuke, it's got mini detonator discs. Instead of a synthetic metal bio mask, it has a...well..."bio" mask XD
I don't really see him as less advanced. Either the writers wanted the weaponary to just look a bit more traditional, or they didn't think through it's design. In the first movie the Predator just used the wrist blade and the plasma caster. In the second one it's a bit more advanced with the smart disc, but also has pretty basic technology, like a telescoping spear and a net that cuts through everything. While this Predator is supposed to be primitive, his choice of weapons seems to be more advanced than to what we're used to. Up until now the Preds always had to detonate their bombs by overcharging their wrist computer. This one just has 3 FLYING bombs in there. Than there is the dart gun which uses arrows which granted are less advanced than plasma shots, until you realize they seem to have an aimbot function. Or this percy jackson shield he just pulls out of thin air. I think they screwed up on the Preds design quite a bit.
@@guybrushthreepwood2014 well it is insinuated (and the director said so himself) that this is a different species of Yautja from a different hemisphere of the planet with a different culture and evolutionary adaptations to the Jungle Predator, and as such, is reflected in the technology and weapons that it uses. The "Feral" predator is more adapted to hotter desert-like environments so it uses heat sensing organs on its face to track its prey which explains why it's bone Mask doesn't have eye holes. It doesn't need to see. Also, the fact that the mask is made of bone is also a feature of its culture. This Yautja has a noticeably larger mouth and wider opening Jaws with large teeth which implies that it has the ability to consume bone matter like a Hyena. Of course all Yautja species have trademark weapons such as wrist blades and polearms but other weapons are different based on the particular species. This particular type is noticeably larger and more physically imposing so it might not find the need for plasma-based projectiles and relies more on its physical strength and melee attacks which could be why it has a variety of melee weapons, including the shield.
It’s not about primitive tech . The more advanced a pred is the less technology they are supposed to use . So I’m hindsight a predator that actually uses quite a variety of tech to kill humans would actually be considered a young blood or inexperienced predator by their societal standards

The mask is not to see , it’s really just to track and relay information to their mother ship where the elder overwatches the hunt for honor betrayal. The masks primary role is to give them the gas they breathe on yatjua prime.

For me laser guided arrows are more advanced than plasma. All 3 dots are independent he can track and attack 3 targets almost immediately. Also arrows are more like missiles, they can change direction in flight. Plasma cannon can't do that.The net is more powerful than previously, I didn't see it can chop human into pieces before. The cloak works in water. And the best gadget, wound welder, in P1/P2 predator had only painkiller injector and simply clamp. That's why he can take a lot of hits, bites, a lot of wounds. He can recover immediately. This predator may looks simple and basic but in my opinion he is not.
Maube theres something about weapon law at some time between prey and p1 where basically the pred king nerfed them so they kinda more honourable and need higher hunting skill to actually survive and not just pew pew boom boom slah. Maybe gun control or something lol

I figured that this wasn’t a case of less-advanced technology (since frankly, once you have interstellar starships you’ve hit the technological apex of your society for a while). I figured this predator was either so young it hadn’t earned its plasma gun yet or preferred the bolt gun for the same reason many human hunters prefer bows.

The one example was in the very first Predator movie where Dutch tries to get the Predator to give up his position by throwing a stone and when the Predator fires he gives his position up but afterwards before Dutch had the chance to throw his grenade spear, The classic Predator then activated a target finding feature

Yes . They choose their weapons based on the prey they are hunting. They would not be allowed to use weapons that are considered too overpowered for their prey. Unless ofcourse they are bad bloods

Technology will always advance (unlike what we saw in the original AVP movie, where the Yautjas tech appeared stagnant for thousands of years). So while interstellar travel and light-bending camo exists, plasma shoulder cannons and gauntlet nukes probably do not. The former is also probably the reason why (SPOILERS) the Yautjas return at the end, they wanted to remove any traces of their evidence.
It was actually by choice. Predator species have existed for millions of years, a single predator lives for hundreds of years. It's not a 200-year timeframe that would make predators go from arrows to plasma. It was that predator's choice to arm itself like this.
You have to admit that they did great with this predator because in logic the plasma gun would overheat or worse blow up when used multiple time if used in the desert, so it smart to use a spear gun to hunt.
My theory is that this desert predator might be a new blood due to it having little knowledge of the human world, because he was collecting skull from small animals to bigger animals, like he's trying to prove that he be a hunter when he returns to his clan, so I think it was wise for the Mc tribe to move away before a Desert Predator Hunter show up.

We’ve seen another variation in Predators 3 with Berserker and in the sequel comic with the four-armed Yautja that fights Royce who also wore yautja armor that was given to him
This yautja is shorter than the others. (Apparently this one didn’t quite reach 7ft). But they’re certainly still made of sturdier stuff if they could punch out a bear.
I do like that there are different types of Yautja, like we humans also don't look exactly the same (even if we come from the same planet or same country) and it makes them more unique compared to other aliens in pop culture, where all aliens of a race look exactly the same.
Pro tip when you're about to watch the movie, don't go watching this while drunk; I did and I was so confused about what the hell was going on that I'm relying on videos like these to help out figure it out.
a yautja doesn't need a bio helm to do voice mimicry. the yautja that escaped from the lab mimic the voice of one ofthe staff to open the door without a biohelm.
The Yautja come from MANY planets. Why is it hard to believe there would be genetic and technological differences? All human hunters on earth are in no way similar other than that they hunt.

In avp movie there was scene where three predators fought army of xenomorphs on top of the pyramid, during aztec age or whatever, they already had advanced weapon's like shoulder blasters

Bruh that’s the predator med kit . Have you not watched predator 2 ? That’s the kit the pred used in 2 when his arm got cut off , and in avp requiem wolf used that same kit to heal himself after being knocked down and impaled at the power plant .
The nets do more than just cut and crush, they also have some kind of acid or disintegration technology on them. In AVP one guy tried to pull the net off the guy that was trapped and got his hands shocked or burned when he did.
Was the cloaking device more advanced ? In other predator movies the cloaking device always malfunctions when in water. Was the cloaking more advanced before ?
My favourite weapon would be the spear gun and bolas. In my opinion, it is way better than plasma gun because you can shoot 3 different target by marked it using the laser in bio mask, kinda like silent mini missile that can follow the target. Second is the bolas, I can see why keeping this in Predator's arsenal is very important when in pinch because of the powerful cutting function of any object and limbs of an enemy.

For a Predator that went barehanded against a bear and won, it's quite odd for it to have so many weapons just to go hunt such weak prey, and even using some against small animals like snakes and wolves. I get the shield and even the spear, but the rest seemed really unnecessary. The thing that wraps around and cuts off the trap was literally there just for the girl to use it later. The arrow gun is so overpowered, you'd have to be an idiot to manage to miss any shot, which seems to fit this Predator quite a lot. It has a biomask that doesn't fully cover its face so how the hell is it even breathing? It can detect even simple weapons such as bows and arrows, but not traps right in front of it? It watches as its weapon is targetting right at it? It doesn't even know how its own weapons work? I can only imagine the Elder and other Predators on the ship watching in disbelief over how stupid this one was.
The mask isn’t for breathing, he breathes fine without it. The different weapons were used to parallel that of his prey. He used the blades against the snake and wolf. He used the arrow launcher against bows & arrows and guns. He even used the net when the trappers used a net.
@@batbrick3949 This must be a completely different species that can breathe in our atmosphere, because all other Predators we've seen before need it, as shown by their helmets always plugged with gas tubes, and even City Hunter using a specific breathing device. The problem with the weapons is that it doesn't really need them. That's why I mentioned the bear, that's a real threat that would've made total sense to use blades since bears have big claws, but it made no sense against the snake and the wolf. Those would be so easy that it could just pick them up with its hand and break their necks, so it must've been a very amateur and insecure Predator, which is very shameful in their honor code.

@@Danny-im9ek Oh you're absolutely right. Jungle Hunter removes its mask as it finally sees Dutch as a worthy opponent for a final combat, using nothing but their bare hands. It's believed that Jungle Hunter at that point did not seek a mere victory, where it could just gut Dutch like a pig and take his skull like all the others to finally go home, but instead to prove that it was truly superior by beating Dutch fair and square since he was completely disarmed at that point. Sure, it could just go back after killing Dutch and pick up the mask, but the idea that it was willing to die at that point shows that it didn't really care about that anymore. It had already collected enough trophies and shown its superiority over Dutch's men, so even dying would be an honorable death. The only other times this ever happened was when Scar did it to mark itself with xenomorph blood, Wolf to have its final fight with the Predalien and Berserker to give Crucified an honorable death.
How could a "hunt" like this be even anywhere near fair and honorable, given the futuristic guns and CLOAK tec of the Predator. This is just as "honorable" as a guy defeating a pack of lions with a tommy gun and handgranates. Something that always bothered me about the Yautja "honor code"
Pretty sure the reason he uses more primitive weapons is to make a hunt more of a challenge since he definitely has access to things such as the plasmacaster but chooses not to Edit: also forgot to mention that while the self destruction thing is for preventing other species from obtaining their technology, it is also a honorable death to the Yautja
On number 7 you mentioned it was a net gun but didn't this predator just use a hand thrown net grenade since I guess his more primitive technology either doesn't include a net gun or he hasn't earned the right to use one yet.
Pirates would carry twin pistols 🔫 so in the case of burning treasure the captain would leave 1 behind with first mate incase something happened and he didn't make it back
What's the thing on its back/shoulder? Before watching the film I assumed it was a plasma caster but this predator doesn't seem to have or at least use one.
That is his hand held bolt gun. He holsters it on his back. At the end when he's in the mud pit you very clearly see him reach over his shoulder/collar bone and draw it.
But as you can see the net gun has two parts that are not accounted for. Predator throws the net (no gun at all) and through unexplained movie magic the piece on the bottom that retracts the net just appears out of nowhere. These devices must be nice.

I like the spear gun, but seriously the perfect kind of predator that dies because it shot a projectile. I loved the movie, but the predator death could be better. I mean its a yautja for godsake

The feral predator was interesting but makes no sense. It would have been better placed in a movie about predators on thier home planet and how they developed tjier code.

This Alien didn't have a self destruct nuke-wrist gauntlet, rather it's gauntlet carried three discs that could fire lasers
I think all the gauntlets have a self destruct mode, the feral predator didn't need to use when taking out those French dudes

the net was not shown chopping targets because gore was a thing back then, they had some restrictions to an extent.

Forget the name, but there's a predator comic where it hunt's aquatic prey and divers. They're just as deadly underwater as on land.

The Yautja come from MANY planets. Why is it hard to believe there would be genetic and technological differences? All human hunters on earth are in no way similar other than that they hunt.
They only come from one planet and that's Yautja Prime this predator was an unbloodied so he was very young

Bruh that’s the predator med kit . Have you not watched predator 2 ? That’s the kit the pred used in 2 when his arm got cut off , and in avp requiem wolf used that same kit to heal himself after being knocked down and impaled at the power plant .

The nets do more than just cut and crush, they also have some kind of acid or disintegration technology on them. In AVP one guy tried to pull the net off the guy that was trapped and got his hands shocked or burned when he did.
If I remember correctly, the net was simply so sharp it mangled his winter gloves to the point he could feel his hands getting cut
The net is made of some unknown metal made into wires, capable of cutting even other types of metal that we have such as knives.

My favourite weapon would be the spear gun and bolas. In my opinion, it is way better than plasma gun because you can shoot 3 different target by marked it using the laser in bio mask, kinda like silent mini missile that can follow the target. Second is the bolas, I can see why keeping this in Predator's arsenal is very important when in pinch because of the powerful cutting function of any object and limbs of an enemy.

For a Predator that went barehanded against a bear and won, it's quite odd for it to have so many weapons just to go hunt such weak prey, and even using some against small animals like snakes and wolves.
I get the shield and even the spear, but the rest seemed really unnecessary. The thing that wraps around and cuts off the trap was literally there just for the girl to use it later. The arrow gun is so overpowered, you'd have to be an idiot to manage to miss any shot, which seems to fit this Predator quite a lot.
It has a biomask that doesn't fully cover its face so how the hell is it even breathing? It can detect even simple weapons such as bows and arrows, but not traps right in front of it? It watches as its weapon is targetting right at it? It doesn't even know how its own weapons work?
I can only imagine the Elder and other Predators on the ship watching in disbelief over how stupid this one was.
The mask isn’t for breathing, he breathes fine without it. The different weapons were used to parallel that of his prey. He used the blades against the snake and wolf. He used the arrow launcher against bows & arrows and guns. He even used the net when the trappers used a net.

This must be a completely different species that can breathe in our atmosphere, because all other Predators we've seen before need it, as shown by their helmets always plugged with gas tubes, and even City Hunter using a specific breathing device.
The problem with the weapons is that it doesn't really need them. That's why I mentioned the bear, that's a real threat that would've made total sense to use blades since bears have big claws, but it made no sense against the snake and the wolf. Those would be so easy that it could just pick them up with its hand and break their necks, so it must've been a very amateur and insecure Predator, which is very shameful in their honor code.

Oh you're absolutely right. Jungle Hunter removes its mask as it finally sees Dutch as a worthy opponent for a final combat, using nothing but their bare hands.
It's believed that Jungle Hunter at that point did not seek a mere victory, where it could just gut Dutch like a pig and take his skull like all the others to finally go home, but instead to prove that it was truly superior by beating Dutch fair and square since he was completely disarmed at that point.
Sure, it could just go back after killing Dutch and pick up the mask, but the idea that it was willing to die at that point shows that it didn't really care about that anymore. It had already collected enough trophies and shown its superiority over Dutch's men, so even dying would be an honorable death.
The only other times this ever happened was when Scar did it to mark itself with xenomorph blood, Wolf to have its final fight with the Predalien and Berserker to give Crucified an honorable death.

How could a "hunt" like this be even anywhere near fair and honorable, given the futuristic guns and CLOAK tec of the Predator. This is just as "honorable" as a guy defeating a pack of lions with a tommy gun and handgranates. Something that always bothered me about the Yautja "honor code"

On number 7 you mentioned it was a net gun but didn't this predator just use a hand thrown net grenade since I guess his more primitive technology either doesn't include a net gun or he hasn't earned the right to use one yet.
Pirates would carry twin pistols 🔫 so in the case of burning treasure the captain would leave 1 behind with first mate incase something happened and he didn't make it back

Before watching the film I assumed it was a plasma caster but this predator doesn't seem to have or at least use one.
That is his hand held bolt gun. He holsters it on his back. At the end when he's in the mud pit you very clearly see him reach over his shoulder/collar bone and draw it.
But as you can see the net gun has two parts that are not accounted for. Predator throws the net (no gun at all) and through unexplained movie magic the piece on the bottom that retracts the net just appears out of nowhere. These devices must be nice.

I like the spear gun, but seriously the perfect kind of predator that dies because it shot a projectile. I loved the movie, but the predator death could be better. I mean its a yautja for godsake
