A couple of years ago I read ALL of Ngaio Marsh's books, short stories and autobiography. I love her. I don't think she gets the credit she deserves for being such a wonderful writer. Beautifully written prose that you can sink your teeth into. Glad to see this here. Thanks.
I so very much enjoy these old British radio dramas (not the US ones at all unfortunately) I have problems falling off to sleep and find them such a good way to wind down at the end of the day, the only problem is I usually have to listen to the same play more than once I hate to miss the end of the stories. Thanks to Chesterton radio for your fantastic uploads!
As I've said way more than 2 years ago, what a fantastic play I enjoyed it once again. And I'll thank this provider as I've done the others in the past.... Please excuse my adventurous way of thinking.... As I babbled in the other comment Well,. Take care.......
“Let’s forget about him now!”? Rather swift amnesia, that. NO SPOILER. But when you’ve got to the end, my fellow listeners, you’ll know to what I refer. Good listening! A smashing crime drama that starts off dramatically but slowly & builds to a satisfying if quiet finish. A ripping rather intellectual whodunit. What we have learnt to expect from N Marsh.
Nicely constructed detective thriller set in the newly reopened Shakespearean Dolphin Theatre. Long build up while you wonder who the victim will be then a swift who done it. Satisfying
That does happen! I agree w you. It happens w some of the Poirots too, not only the films w Suchet (there is some controversy, admittedly), but the audio Poirots as well. When Hastings narrates, for instance. Better than Dame Agatha’s at times awkward phrasing.
RADIO DRAMAS Death at the dolphin Is that Micheal Ripper voice sounds familiar remember him being in some hammer horror films from the sixties. Great radio drama i like Who are the cast of this radio drama
Marsh is better than Allingham. Most of her novels are an absolute delight! The novels she wrote in her 80s are better than Christie’s when the latter was the same age.
Unfortunately Agatha Christie suffered from dementia towards the end of her life. It would have been kinder not to publish Postern of Fate, and probably Elephants Can Remember.
Me Marsh had probably never actually met any members of the lower classes ? Like Dame Agatha . Although to be fair , she was not as revoltingly snobbish as Dorothy L Sayers !

@ Mavis Emberson I have praised many productions on the Radio Drama site . Some of us have more sophisticated taste than others . Give me your contact details and I will inform you in advance of my critiques ? ( a kind of trigger warning ? )

You should listen to Benadict Cumberbatch reading the Audio books ( they are available on YT) hes a wonderful reader and does all the parts.
Great comment. Based on it I shall delve further into more of Ms Marsh’s work. This story gives me impetus! 🙏🏾
I've become a fan!

Every enjoyable listening indeed! Thank you.
Thank you much. One gripe, however: wish this were three hours longer. Some people are never satisfied.

Excellent..had a quiet afternoon listening to this as the rain battered down outside
that's my favourite way of listening to these, all comfy with a hot cup of tea and maybe doing some painting...

That voice sounds familiar is that micheal ripper the film actor
I always think of the Five go mad in Dorset when I hear the stereotype cockney character!

M ay she rest in peace.
I was enjoying the play but there seemed to be a crackling noise in the background that was very annoying.
Me too. So annoying as l was trawling through and happy to find this Ngaio Marsh story. Then the hissing noise! I will persevere!
Here too...
Unlistenable.
Yes, I had a pretty piercing headache by the end. Which says something about how good the story and the acting are, to make me persevere.

Your quite a story teller yourself! I love how these radio dramas do inspires our imagination as your words did.
Was in an old theatre in Ballarat in Victoria Australia where all my relatives could act and drink with my Aussie cousins.Even got to pan for gold. Great fun.
Didn't like this one,
Not th usual alley story. Twenty minutes in and 're boring. The murder seems hours off. Hope it improves.
It doesn't ! The solution is completely ludicrous ! How anyone could actually swallow it without muttering WTF ! is quite
amazing.
@@2msvalkyrie529 Sorry you don't seem to like anything . going by your comments on everything I try to listen to on you tube:-)
