Yo big brain play here. Instead of making your weapons mostly out of mild steel which bends easily, try spending $10 more on slightly more durable steels. The anvil was a great idea actually.
Eric's last strategy is honestly really good and I would have done the same thing but much sooner. It is better to scoop out much more dirt much slower and conserve your energy than to use it all and not scoop out enough.
