Reading or book time should never be associated with punishment.
I agree reading shouldn't be a punishment putting them in time out yes.
@Stacey Campbell book reading is not a punishment instead it’s a happy time activity when fighting occurs.
In other words: Since you kids are fighting & crying, let’s do something fun & southing... READING TIME.

With complete respect and love, when you use reading (positive action) as a punishment, it sends the negative message. Cleaning up is another positive action parents mistakenly use as punishment. A stronger punishment will be something they dislike that they should dislike. If they really like being together, split ‘em up. I’ve read that a punishment should last about one minute per year of age, and if it involves being talked to, it should end when the apology is given AND/OR the face shows remorse. Love you all so much. I wonder how my mom and dad managed with the four of us. It must have been hell on steroids.🤣

Sometimes when you give a child too much. he/she can feel entitled and don't appreciate what they have. The children here each have their own toys. They should acknowledge the many kids who are not as fortunate as they are. If they don't understand, give their toys to a shelter where they kids will appreciate it. Keepin it real Justin.
When my sister's children were younger she and her husband actually asked all of us to stop buying them so many gifts after the kids started fighting and then actually complained that they didn't get enough! That was enough for both my sister and her husband , the children after that only got one gift and all of the fighting and misbehaving ended and they were more grateful children for what they had.

Don’t use reading a book as punishment or they will equate learning with punishment - alternative take the girls phone charges and jersey’s favorite toy
Honestly Jersey does not share, he has never shared with any body. But he will pick up their things and plays with it. Tbey have fun tbough. But hopefully it will get better as they learn to respect each other's things and boundaries they love each other and will have those moments of sibling situations that lead to tug of war even a little hitting on each other but bottom line this to shall pass. I grew up with 9 siblings, both parents in home other relatives very near by there are 4 of us left now, but we see or talk daily, so I understand about the sharing of things. Merry Christmas, happy Sunday, happy Kwanzaa,and happy New year, stay safe and blessed, mask up, wash hands often, sanitize, social distance.

They need to learn Jersey how to share, talking about he's only three, teach them from young.
There’s a noticeable difference , because Jersey is Justin’s blood child. I strongly do not like how the girls are treated, especially Ava! The mom is too busy trying to look cute and is EXTREMELY lazy, and Justin is a smart mouth jerk!

I've noticed he doesn't mind playing with the girls toys, but when they play with his toys he always say stop it, that's mine. If the girls have to share their toys, then so does Jersey.

@@Ahsao actually, three punishments stand out in my mind. One particular punishment, I don't even remember what I did. I just remember being in the fifth or sixth grade, and my grandmother telling me I couldn't watch TV, I couldn't go outside, I couldn't read a book, I couldn't go in the kitchen, I couldn't do anything but go on the porch and sit. The second I had to write a book report about lying. The third one was as a teenager. I got lectured for months. Not a little bit. MONTHS!!!

I agree with a lot of people who said reading should not be associated with punishment. Maybe a reading time out can be called Cool Down Time or Individual Play Time. My parents made trips to the library feel as exciting as going to Game Stop.

I love the content of your channel. I know kids will be kids & the’ll fight. I loved to read as a child, so reading wouldn’t have worked as a punishment for me. I hope you come up with punishment that really gets the point across that the behavior exhibited is wrong & will not be tolerated. I really love the McClure family because you really do keep it real. Noooo friend. Reading should never be used as a punishment. The brain is a funny thing. Making reading a punishment will cause the kids to associate reading as a bad experience. It is a tough thing but as parents we have to think twice about our punishments. Love your channel! You are a beautiful family!

I always say set aside a time for everything. Ex: 9am breakfast 10am read 11am playtime 1pm family activity.. Having a little structure on time may help whether they are on Xmas break or not.. it helped me..I used to babysit 5 kids lol I was very strict about time. Also, movie time helps you guys get a break.. thats a good 2 hrs right there..hope that helps

@@annevaughn6345 She's fine. We live in Georgia and if you know the weather it doesn't remain cold for long. I have family in New York that is dealing with the cold weather. Georgia is nothing. It's cold in the morning and sunny by 2pm. For instance today Dec. 27th turned out to be a beautiful day.

Fighting is what young kids do over toys and I know it is upsetting . When my kids were small we let them play with a few toys at the time the rest where in their toy box . The large toys were in the family room in the basement I would have lost my mind with all that fighting and toys all over the house. It will get better as they get older. I am so glad they are happy with their gifts and I do love watching them they are good kids . ❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘

I did that as well and also included standing side extensions. I would tell my kids go be the plane in the corner for 5 minutes or more.

You all are so awesome! One thing that helped me keep down fighting was exercising with the kids. I have two sons who are close in age and it really helped to keep their energy level from going through the roof. I bought jump ropes from the the Dollar Store and we would have jump rope contest. We would see who could get to 20, 50 or 100 first. It was fun and it wore them out😂

Justin and Ami, I love how they had to spend their "timeout." It speaks volumes!!
My suggestion is to not buy them so much toys. Let each child play with one toy at a time. Don't let them get another toy to play with until that get tired of playing with the other one. Make a list of activities that they could do all day including reading, exercise, going outs side for a short time, watching tv, playing together, singing etc. This will keep them busy all day, they want have time to argue and fight.
