- I finally got my hands on the M1 iPad Pro 2021 with 1tb of storage and 16 gigs of ram. I have been testing it with lots of music apps but have really enjoyed playing with live loops in GarageBand. This video is a walk through of making a beat using AUV3s and built in sounds in the Live Loops view (no premade loops) with the Korg NanoKey Studio. Thank you to my Patrons: Tempest Anderson. Cool portable rig. I have a 2020 iPad 12.9” and use Launchpad, Blocs Wave, GarageBand, and a dozen other instruments. It’s amazing what you can do. I’d recommend the Novation LaunchKey mini MK3 over the nano.

Logic probably wont get pored over because Garagband is a touch interface, but never say never. Geat workflow
Totally agree. There’s too much in Logic to adapt to a touch screen. GB looks based on Logic objects, so what’s likely is GB gets more Logic functionality for iOS until GB and Logic are basically the same product.
How do you programme the dials to adjust parameters?

Thanks for the sub! It's a VAVA usb adapter. They got pulled off amazon after I got it because amazon did a sweep of manufacturers who tried to get people to review stuff with promo codes.
Which is too bad cause it's actually pretty good and would probably have sold on word of mouth.

Can you open the same project in the previous ipad pro 2020/18 (if possible) Do you see/hear any differences between the old and m1...? I'm especially interested in how many instances of the same synth you can play/record in real time. For example ipad 12,9 2017 can handle 3 Sunsrize tracks max. and sometime it gives cracks because of the CPU overload.

Hi there! Will the arp control on the nano key work in GarageBand? My launchkey can play arps, but I’m not sure if it’s the controller or the software (gadget) doing the lifting for the nanokey.
I am nearly certain the answer to this is yes but I don't own an iPad anymore so I can't test it.
Would be cool to try zenbeats on m1, they also have ableton style mode

The metronome isnt working because you play the loops in loopmode. The metronome should work when you press play in song mode. Thanks for the video and the redo part lol.

Have a question that may sound stupid. Can I use live looping on IPad pro with 256gb or it will be too heavy for the iPad?
you could probably run this app on a base model ipad from 2018, so any modern pro should be a okay regardless of the storage. Storage will only come into play when it comes to downloading samples and packs or plugins.

Nicely done. One of my frustrations. There is no "perfect" midi controller for GB. While I love that you can use the iPad "naked", imagine a controller that you could do everything without touching the iPad? Apple and a manufacture need to get in bed and make sweet love!
Agreed! The launchpads from novation work pretty well with Logic with the 10.5 update, really hoping that integration comes over to ipad this year!
Did you know you can just press the cell you want to record in!? Then you recorded the way you want!

I also don’t trust BM3. Actually very disappointed with it. Needs an overhaul to make it stable. There are some really obvious bugs and issues and I can’t understand why they haven’t been fixed already.
It's truly the most heartbreaking app on iPad because it's so damn close but it's failed me so many times in so many ways I just refuse to engage with it
I'd love to produce real stuff on an iPad or Galaxy tab.. audio evolution or cubasis or GarageBand just isn't there yet.. GarageBand IS a fun toy but you could have simply bought a MacBook Air which would allow you flawless use of any real daw on the market.. lol, that pen cost as much as a decent audio interface.. but hey, if you have the money for toys, might as well play
Oh yeah no doubt, I ended up going with a Surface Pro 8 so I could use Ableton and my vsts
