- Budget Bushcraft And Survival. Here are some ideas for getting together good quality clothing and footwear at the best value for your buck. I share on some of my clothing, where I buy it and what it is used for.
Please use the comments section to share on your purchases, the old stuff that has lasted for years, the new purchases you may have made or any experiences, good and not so good.
Thanks as always for tuning in guys. Hope you enjoy. Dave
Couldn't agree more about the socks. That piece of kit always seems to get overlooked.👍
Thanks Kevin
Dave .... bloody excellent mate ..... 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great! Thanks Kris.
Huge believer in giving new life to second hand stuff! A massive portion of my kit came from opshops or TradeMe - Skellerups, Swanndris, Icebreaker, various fleeces and quality packs all scored for next to nothing! I occasionally instruct courses at an outdoor ed facility for school camps and I make sure those kids get an appreciation for something as simple as a plastic rubbish bag! Great to see your good scores there.
Thanks bro. It does pay to do the shopping around, great deals to be found. I shop opshops even when I dont need anything. The deals you get in them are usually gone quickly. I keep them in store for later use.
Totally agree with you Dave, don't skimp on boots! Trade me is also a great place to find some good deals.
Cheers
Thanks bro.
best purchase i made in the last year was a Wool USN Pea Coat, had it 2/3 the price because it was an ex-sales demo model (had a couple of holes in the pockets, which i fixed in 10minutes) I have worn it camping, slept in it too, used it as a outer coat and a thermal layer, am a big fan of wool now.
Pea Coats are awesome! I had one many years ago. How did you find it for movement when camping and walking? Was it restrictive at all?
Southern Land Solo ... I bought one slightly larger, so it fits well, not restrictive at all, I also bought a ‘monty’ ww2 type duffle coat which I’m saving for winter.
Yes, good quality boots and if carrying heavier loads, good quality backpack. The other stuff can be lower quality. I would also give thoughts to underpants so that they arent abrasive.
Good point. I sometimes wear the tight fit cycling or jogging shorts that cover the thighs. No abrasion or chaffing at all regardless of how long the walk is. Vaseline on the inside of the thighs is a good substitute. Thanks bro.
Love your new camera it's the one I want nice and lite what mike and tripod you using mate great bright content by the way good job
I love this Canon M50. My EOS 600D was good but was too big for my bush work. My tripos is a MeFoto BackPackerS. The tripod is light, packs up small and can telescope my camera almost to eye height which gives a natural position to film from. The mic in this video is a Rode SmartLav Lavalier. I needed it in the car with me because of the wind noise outside the car, otherwise I would have used my Rode VideoMic Go. I'm glad the video came out bright enough. It originally was very dark but I rediscovered the "Video Enhancement" button lol.
@@southernlandsolo7839 do just hold it in your hand or on a gorilla pod type deal
@@dubbie001 I have a gorrilla pod but don't use it very much. Most of my filming is done on the tripod, not hand held
