Do you think Second Dinner would consider introducing a protocol for Series downgrades? Like if a card is scheduled into a Spotlight Cache 3x within a calendar year, it will be downgraded the following calendar year. This way "big bads" like High Evolutionary or Thanos could stay permanent as long as they only offer them in a Spotlight Cache once or twice a year.

Holy crap the last 2 weeks of jan are busto. LOKI, ELSA, and WOLF (along with some really awesome cards). Looks like im going broke in January (spending all my gold)
Subjective question but: is it ‘reasonable’ to spend 6k tokens on series 5 cards when you have the other 2 from a cache release? Annihilus I want, but I have daken and x23. Curious of other’s’ principles on token usage.
Its a risk you’ll take. I did the same with Man Thing, datamines said that card to be returned in SLC the week of Firestar, but they changed him with the living tribunal. So it could happen again with other cards in other weeks.
Looking at the recent/current and upcoming caches like this really solidified my decision to step away from the game again. The card acquisition feels bad, the meta feels bad, I feel bad at the game for how often I lose to coin flips (don't get me wrong, I've made my misplays too, but I swear it comes in waves that the opponent has exactly what they need to completely dumpster me). It's just not worth the time I'm putting into it. I don't intend to stop watching (yet?) but I'm done playing it myself unless some stuff changes drastically.
I don't understand how everyone is sleeping on havok. Turn 4 viper+havok means your opponent is stuck at 4 energy for the rest of the game. I understand the drawbacks but a combo like that makes 5 and 6 cost cards unplayable. Alternatively you can havok early if you have viper in hand and lock them in at 3 energy at the cost of preventing yourself from reaching 6, you'll probably have priority too because havok will be 4 power on the board on turn 2 so cosmo can't block your viper I just think there is a good chance he sees play and no one seems to be willing to give him a second look
How is a new player supposed to get enough keys for these. I just unlocked spotlight cache yesterday. No way I can get 4 keys for Jeff, and Nebula. Both are supposed to be staples. I really hope SD does not change the Miek week, becuase I really want Annihilus but want to save my caches since the first time he comes around I have the rest of the spotlights already.
There's four five stars, three one/two stars, and 6 middle of the road. Pretty even split honestly.
Dang I really want that Mirage variant but It's not worth gambling my spotlights over when I have all the cards that week. Annihilus will be my next card to go for :)
He's going to wreck Galactus players (Evil snicker).
I absolutely must have that Rian X-23, thankfully it's on a week with a card I have been waiting for!
Great overview Jeff! Thanks for the effort in this video. Spot on! :)
I’m only early CL 1000 and have 4 caches saved up… been wanting Loki since I missed out on that season pass but I can’t decide if it’s worth since I really want 4 caches for the high evo week as well. Don’t know if I should risk opening for Loki or just wait
I don't think they'll ever downgrade cards on a predictable schedule again.
Thanks for putting these together, Jeff!
Seems like a lot of effort being put into Move decks and crossover with others like Discard
This is great, but I kinda wanted thoughts on Season Pass cards too (aka Sebastian Shaw & Skaar).
You can find a more in depth review of upcoming releases here: ua-cam.com/video/cBkbD3a7JbI/v-deo.html
I really really really really want Mirage, but think I'll skip the cache anyways - saving for Annihilus for sure, can't wait to bust out my sweet Sentry variant.
have such a hard time deciding when to rip caches. I have plenty of keys, and still like 20k tokens. Probably will pull for loki variant cause it looks so damn good.
If most of these remain series 5, I’ll keep skipping until they bunch up with spotlights in upcoming months. I can’t justify going in on a lot of these middling new cards when I have everything else besides a few cards they refuse to cycle through as often as goddamn Knull.
Hahaha, I never noticed the london Worlds merch until rn I have all that same merch in my room. So apparently, we've been in the same building before maybe even the same room, lol. Unless you happened to not go and picked it up from friends. None the less cool to see!
I was a part of the official broadcast team for Pokemon UNITE their first year so I was there for that.
@@HooglandiaSnap oh awesome! I'm sure that was a great time!
I notice you sort of skipped over your opinion on Firestar and in your previous video you didn't say too much about her either. She seems to me like potentially the strongest card datamined. Is there something I'm missing?
She seems like a very reasonable card yes.
I agree with all your ratings, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the Firestar week will age well with time.
Great video, great editing, great channel 👍
I hate that Spiderman 2099 is so terrible but getting such an adorable variant. I picked up the Midnight Sun's Jean Grey so I should be able to easily skip that.
I really don’t know what to do when all of the weeks where I’m missing all the cards are like 1 or 2 stars. Honestly I think opening cards based on good cards and then art is what I’m gonna do because that’s what I personally find joy in
Sounds like an optimal decision to me.
I was planning to save 4 boxes for Havok to pick up Nico and Legion. Most efficient number of new cards. But Nico is clearly the best and I do have like 20K tokens :P
Should I just but Nico now? Save some SL keys for January?
still missing x-23 and i love destroy. probably feels clunky because i dont have her witht eh mana gain and extra triggers for death and knull. and i cant wait for annihilus and selene so i know when to pop my caches :D
yo bro, iv already collected 4 spotlight keys I'm thinking of opening the Gaia cache and ill be able to get 8 /9 keys till then should I open the cache for the variant or just save and use the keys for the next Loki and Grandmaster?
Definitely saving for the Draken and annalis
Thanks for doing this Jeff. Another great one
Thanks for the breakdown, and really appreciate having the artwork shown as well. I'm solidly a whale spender so the artwork is what pulls me to cache weeks.
Yes, giving points for "big bad" status did feel a bit off to me in your last cache review. I like the change. Here's hoping that they will continue the downgrades sometime soon.
Amazing breakdown!
It is going to be brutal trying to save keys for some of these with an extra release each month.
So i need to save until anhilud, then again until Selene, and then for Grandmaster
Okay but can we talk about that High Evolutionary variant art? That's incredible
Very useful video for planning ahead, thanks
They could release a series 3 card per month.
They could give every card for free as well.
@@HooglandiaSnap yep, that was what i was going for 😫 ultimately, series concept is pretty obsolete now, they should be more clear on what direction they want to handle card collection. My ocd cant handle the free series 3 card menu being unused for, idk, half a year.
i can see the increase in card releases mean they hit the threshold of s4 and s5 cards SD wants before they resume downgrades faster. probably a plus
Hopefully
I was surprised you didn’t give much recognition to Firestar. Seems like a super impactful card that could make it’s own archetype.
This isn't a new card review. Can find that here: ua-cam.com/video/cBkbD3a7JbI/v-deo.html
@@HooglandiaSnap I watched your review when it came out and you acknowledged that Firestar was potentially really strong. So that’s why I was surprised you didn’t give that week a higher score. I think Firestar is potentially much stronger than Tribunal. First thing that comes to mind is using her as an alternative wincon in Jane Foster Hit Monkey style decks. Dump everything you can on 5 instead of 6 and then finish off with Firestar.
@themightybrick2264 generally speaking i don't rate weeks here higher or lower based on upcoming cards. Too easy to miss there.
Great vid - thanks Jeff!
I really like that you changed to a X/5 rating, while I understood your previous one, it probably wasnt easy to understand to the average viewer. Are you still doing your old system and translating it to this new scale?
Also, great video as always
Loosely, but nothing for big bads basically
Is it weird that I'm saving caches for the Stegron 3099 variant?
Thanks for the video, any plans on another bundle breakdown in the future?
Yep. Early next week.
Hey for anyone, if I claim a spotlight key (got the animation and the box now says "1") but don't use it to open a box. Is it going to be wasted and I'd be unable to open a box the following week?
Not at all. You can and should save your keys for weeks with cards you want.
That Hit-Monkey variant though… I can see that being a 4 spotlight week for me.
Great format- engagement for engagement throne
5400 tokens burning a hole in my pocket. If playing more decks Jeff plays is what brings me joy, do you s'pose I'll get more milage out of Negasonic or Stegron?
Warhead. Definitely the more playable of those two and harder to replace now.
Excellent. Thank you, Jeff.
November was the perfect month for the caches to be pretty medium. My reserves have dipped after last month lol
sigh.... i want that mirage variant it makes me Feel Emotions in the vein of road trip americana wistfulness..... but The Price 😭
likewise i might just buy annihilus bc i already have the other two cards and don't care for the variants ._.
Depends on your token and spotlight counts and if any other upcoming spotlights are good for you.
As hard as it is, I might have to wait until Annihilus reruns in January so I can crack for both him and Miek 😬
Its a risk you’ll take. I did the same with Man Thing, datamines said that card to be returned in SLC the week of Firestar, but they changed him with the living tribunal. So it could happen again with other cards in other weeks.
It is a risk worth considering. They might change it, but yeah I want Miek as well and since I have X-23 and Daken it looks more promising.
@jeff which option do you think is better: Annihilus+Daken, or Annihilus+PF+Miek?
Daken is a better card than PF imo
So if a spotlight week has a S5 that I want but I own all other cards, Should I spend the 6k on it and save my boxes or should I just roll the die?
Depends on your token and spotlight counts and if any other upcoming spotlights are good for you.
Looking forward to Caiera and Beta Ray Bill so much.

"Flexible Series Drops"
Looking at the recent/current and upcoming caches like this really solidified my decision to step away from the game again.
The card acquisition feels bad, the meta feels bad, I feel bad at the game for how often I lose to coin flips (don't get me wrong, I've made my misplays too, but I swear it comes in waves that the opponent has exactly what they need to completely dumpster me).
It's just not worth the time I'm putting into it. I don't intend to stop watching (yet?) but I'm done playing it myself unless some stuff changes drastically.
Anecdotally alioth is dying down on the ladder again. Agree the coin flips that card generates aren't fun.
i AM SO STOKED FOR THE TRIBUNAL VARIANT!
I don't understand how everyone is sleeping on havok. Turn 4 viper+havok means your opponent is stuck at 4 energy for the rest of the game. I understand the drawbacks but a combo like that makes 5 and 6 cost cards unplayable. Alternatively you can havok early if you have viper in hand and lock them in at 3 energy at the cost of preventing yourself from reaching 6, you'll probably have priority too because havok will be 4 power on the board on turn 2 so cosmo can't block your viper
I just think there is a good chance he sees play and no one seems to be willing to give him a second look
imma have to save up for january, too many good cards i dont have
How is a new player supposed to get enough keys for these. I just unlocked spotlight cache yesterday. No way I can get 4 keys for Jeff, and Nebula. Both are supposed to be staples. That’s not counting Iron Lad, Loki and some of the others. Feels like I’m being punished for trying out (and enjoying) a new game.
Gladiator looks actually decent. Syncs with ms marvel. Play him and ms marvel in the same lane. And win wide. Dr doom/ prof x
Thank you, Jeff.
Looks like a very scheduled every two weeks of cashing in for me.
good stuff as always
Jeff, on average how many spotlight keys would a non paying player get per month? Again amazing content, I always appreciate your insights!
4.5. End game economy breakdown here: ua-cam.com/video/C996nZpPxBk/v-deo.html
@@HooglandiaSnap awesome thank you!
In last 13 weeks, I gained 17,8 Spotlight -caches- keys, just from free credits (missions, collection ladder and conquest). Technically, I also got 3 passes but they only give 300 credits each and I didn't spend any gold nor bought any bundle in that time. So that's almost 6 per month. (and yes, I have receipts :D)
(edit: 13 weeks, not months :D)
Thanks Jeff!
Oh, I’m opening for Howard. Four keys if I must.
Going to have to get a lot more credits I think
my feelings were hurt when you yelled at me for skipping to the end /s
Whatta great and beneficial video
