@@chalkfarmcarsquadso1664 Well, no. Because in order to warrant such a repair, you would need to compromise the passenger compartment, and that would result in a Category B write off. Category C would be just the engine compartment or the boot compartment was compromised and required extensive repairs. The only way this would be allowed here in the UK, is if the vehicle wasn't involved in an accident. So for example, if you imported a car from a country that required you to chop the thing in half. Or if you were restoring a car and needed to chop out a significant portion of the bodywork and replace it. Or if you were modifying a car extensively, such as converting it into a limousine, or shortening it, adding flares and extensions to the body for tuning etc. Crash damage requiring this type of fix is not allowed back on the road. Sure you can race it, or drive it on private land. But cat A and B write offs are not allowed back on the road.
Every time I modified a body like this, I always added a lot more spot welds and welded the seams rather than hid them with caulking like the factories did. Most body panels are made to fit together, so the robot welders can just spot weld them fast and move to the next one. If a body is carefully taken apart at the factory seams, there is very little danger it will fail later. Especially if it has better welds going back than the robot spot welders do without thinking. Of course one has to take into account some seams are meant to be crumple zones. Made to fold up and bleed of impact energy and protect the passengers inside.
Worked with a woman that purchased a car that was only 4 months old from a dealer that broke apart on the right side rocker panel when she went over a railroad tracks it also had a lot of bondo filling in all the other damaged areas. This guys is what is known as a cut and shut in the uk ..

Wow!! That's great work. No butt welds!!
It has butt weld on top. If pass I-car weld test then it is legal to weld. I weld both I-car and AWS D1.3 sheets steel /D1.1 under frame steel
@@dmitriykovalev5501 yes, but I'm talking about the whole thing. I've seen them with the weld outside all the way around and even the frame cut and welded back. Butchered them.
Thanks for your opinion
Probably

Надёжно как Швейцарский сыр!😂
Absolutely right
This is what we call a cut-n-shut.
Really
Well regardless if its illegal, i would guess if welded properly it might be ok but if not, there have been a few accidents where the car sheared in half resulting in fatalities.... 😎
Thanks bro for your opinion. It’s completely safe and secure as before
ニコイチですね!しかしこれでは基本構造強度は保証出来ませんね!車には様々な力が加わりますから、使われている鋼板も特殊な鋼板なんです。
It’s completely safe and secure
