Agatha Woke and Ghey All Along
I've seen episode two myself. If you turn on the ideological filter, the bitter aftertastes start to set in immediately. Primarily, your main protagonist is downright repulsive. If I was in the right audience I would love this. Although the imagery and actors are excellent, it raises the question of who the intended target audience really is. Unfortunately, I don't belong to that crowd.

At this point I'm assuming RDJ will be a lesbian Dr Doom witch who sings as he fights the Avengers.

There's alot of lore involving Chthon, the Darkhold, Gaea, they cab potentially explore here, whereas Acolyte had nothing like that to delve into.

That’s weird, on Gary’s Nooner with Chris Gore- they read an article saying it was the greatest superhero show ever made!!! Those are some big shoes to fill. They don’t even care about Daredevil or Jessica Jones (the real best shows). Green Arrow and Flash were probably better too.

Man, I thought The Acolyte was bad. This was so boring.
This series was theoretically made for me. I'm a life long reader of Marvel Comics, I'm gay and I've always been interested in witchcraft and the mystical side of Marvel. But I'm not feeling it at all. The story isn't enthralling, the tone is bland and the attempts at comedy are cringe. Seems more like it was made for wine moms who like tarot cards, crystals and incense.
I will never watch a minute of this. I will have more fun watching old Airwolf, Miami Vice, Hill Street Blues and The Shield t.v. shows those shows where made for me.
The middle aged wine aunt with a house full of cats demographic will LOVE this shit....

The sad thing is that agatha from the comics, while not very developed, has an interesting story. She has a son thats evil and seven evil grandchildren as well. They could have used this show to develop them and others and their dark shadows.
Being a witch with centuries of knowledge, it could have been better as mini origins for characters yet interduced. And test out to see if the audience is interested in them.
Who exactly is this show for? The smaller percentage of the viewing audience that is gay? The small amount of people who watched Wandavision and thought it was so amazing that we needed to know more about the underwhelming villain?
I have no plans to see this show a hard pass

Funny thing is that I could have seen this premiere screening at theater last night but I went to see the screening of My Old Ass instead WHICH ALSO stars Aubrey Plaza. I didn't know Aubrey was in this and I saw that movie just for Aubrey, but I didn't care for the Marvel show anyway.
A series no one wanted. It sucks because Disney thinks it’s because we don’t want shows but in reality we just don’t want trash.

What the hell is this? Forget condensing it to one episode, this much plot could be done with in about 10 minutes.
I'll give them props for one thing, they came up with a better song than, "the power of one...the power of two... THE POWER OF MANYYYYYYYYYY." 😂
Again they seemed to have started with the simple idea 'a story involving a certain character' without having a clue how to fill 8 episodes involving that character. The pitch seems to be 'gayest Marvel-show', after the massive hit the gayest Star Wars-show The Acolyte was, it seems weird this was not simply shelved. The Disney-heads just do not get it: people want a good story, good characters, not certain amounts of diversity. Inside Out 2 was a hit because it was a good story that was not forced to meet a certain level of diversity. Agatha seems to be again aimed at a certain audience and will probably again ignore good storytelling to focus on diversity and the creators again will not understand that no one but the targeted audience likes it.

Jay. Tulsa King season 2 started back on Paramount+ a couple of days ago. That's a good show.
Clearly, peak television entertainment.
I actually enjoyed the first episode. It really felt like Agatha was trapped in a TV drama similar to the TV shows Wanda was creating in the same town.
The implied nudity was unnecessary, but certainly something to snap the viewers out of the fantasy Agatha was stuck in. That was the moment it stopped being a police drama fantasy.
Aubrey Plaza is my spirit animal. She can do no wrong. I loved seeing her take on the green witch. I think the lock is not sexual, it’s just showing how crazy and demented her character was.
I will be seeing episode two tonight.

I saw the screening of the film My Old Ass, that's a pretty good film with her in it and some other recent things she done outside Disney had been good. I think she done a couple good A24 films.

The body wasn't headless. They're just not showing it because they're pretending it was Wanda (sand from Wundagore, blackened fingertips etc) Some subconscious acknowledgement that the Scarlet Witch is dead. Which also covers the joke of whether or not she was really dead.
But yeah, the first two episodes are mostly just boring. We were told 3 or 4 times about what Agatha's reputation is. Thanks I guess, but I knew after the first time.
Or "more people hate you and will be coming for you" which is just such blatant exposition. Why tell her something she has to know. And if you want her dead and aren't allowed to do it yourself, why warn her?
And why describe the 7 people coming for her as "the most dangerous"? Just show them being dangerous by their actions and power level relative to the protagonists. Because we have now been introduced to the most dangerous of her enemies. When they fail this season, what are we supposed to do next? Watch her fight less dangerous opponents?
And we know they can't be all that powerful because a group of 5 mostly powerless people will be able to fight them/keep ahead of them.
I thought yeh I should watch it before your review but I just kept falling asleep over and over. I just gave up and watched your review and was like so even sleeping through it, I didn't miss much.
This is like a cookie-cutter version of "writing" a show

This character never should have had a show in the first place. They should have saved the shows for main characters even if they are new ones. Not Franklin's Richard's Nanny.
Why is she a cop now ? Wanda left her as a all too cheery lady from the suburbs. Now she's a cop ?
She was trapped inside a "TV show" inside her mind. When Wanda killed herself in Wundagore, *something* or *someone* changed "Agatha's show", alerting the death of Wanda inside the illusion. This is why everything transformed into a detective series, she was getting hints from the outside about what happened with the Darkhold and Scarlet Witch.
Just a theory though
@mrlsoarezz Wanda is very likely in the Elder God Chthon's realm (K'lay/Flickering Realms).
Plaza is playing MCU version of Emerald Warlock, whose power comes from Gaea (Chthon's sister).
Agatha is a z list character, she's only known for being the governess of Franklin Richards and teacher to the scarlett witch. She is a powerful witch, but nowhere close to dr strange.
They should have used this show to explore Marvel's dark side of the MCU. Interduce the creatures as they did with man thing and werewolf by night.

In a year or two's time, perhaps we can have an awards show that votes for the greatest Disney flop of all time? With so many terrific candidates, it will be a difficult choice. We could have worst actor/actress, worst production, worst script, etc., etc. It will be a rating success and likely the only way Disney will make any money from their efforts.

I went into this expecting to cringe and hate it so i watched it and... it was actually pretty good. The writing is already way better than the Acolyte. Detractors are going to have to reach to hate on this one if its only the "gay" comments that you have against it. We'll see if the show improve or crash nd burn
