Awesome overview, thanks Ryan! Great to collaborate with you on the app, and looking forward to adding more hybrid rudiments to it.

One idea to develop this app later (I'm sure you already been thinking of this) but when you press play, and the rudiment starts playing, It would be cool if the played hit/note would be highlighted (Like a bit brighter for example)
This would probably make following the rudiment a little bit easier.

I think we did think about that but it’s hard to make that smooth, so I’m told. If it’s jumpy it’s of little value. The ones I’ve seen of videos and stuff are kind of jumpy.

This is super cool. I have a few questions, if you get a chance to answer them -
Are there any plans to bring this to android?
Will this eventually contain all of the rudiments in the book?
And a more general question...which maybe you've explained somewhere else, but what do you see as the primary benefits of practicing open-close-open style for rudiments? What does this achieve that practicing at various consistent tempos doesn't? Not doubting the method, just not sure if I understand it totally. I have practice rudiments a good amount in my life (mostly PAS 40) but my background is primarily drumset where that approach isn't as universal (though I admit my teacher did tell me to do that growing up...maybe one of many things I would have benefited from listening to him on that I didn't, ha..)
Anyway, thanks for your channel - I've been watching it for a long time now but have never commented before.

Android will be dependent on demand and the success of the iOS version. It’ll require a second developer who specializes in android apps or else it’ll probably be clunky and not as good as the Apple version. We need to hit a critical mass first. We will keep adding rudiments, but I doubt it will ever have the entire book. I could see multiple hundreds on there at some point not too long from now, but probably not 800+. The book will still be relevant to get the whole picture. Open close open makes sense because it allows you to identify your weaknesses. Always choosing a consistent tempo means you can skip over inconvenient tempos easily. Having to at least move through the hard ones for a few moments shows you where you need work. The fastest speed is not always the hardest, especially for rudiments with double or triple strokes in there… unless your techniques have a large overlap in speeds, there are likely to be spots where you are significantly worse than others. You can’t really hide those spots if you move through every tempo in your range.
