- Following the death of family matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, the Collins family reunite at the ancestral home of the Collins clan, Collinwood for the reading of her will. As preparations are made, and the family reacquaint themselves with one another, events threaten to take a dark turn with the unexpected arrival of an unwanted member of the family.

Just Discovered This!! My Husband and I have been watching the original " Dark Shadows"...since the beginning of the pandemic in Feb..Almost every night...We both loved it as kids...and we never realized how much we missed...Have had Alot of FUN ..watching it together!! All the Actors...were so First Class...and kept on going...even when mistakes were made...Actors today could not live up to these people!! With their Do- Overs!! Thanks 4 Bringing This 2 Us All!! I Know I Will Have Many Hours .. Enjoying It!! Bring More!!

I did the same thing. Now seen every episode and movie, and remake. Big fan. It's not perfect, but, that's part of it's charm.

Every time I listen to this, I enjoy it more. I love hearing the voices of the original actors!
The original music adds an extra sentimental touch. The violins are my favorite, and the added harpsichord.
The music was like one of the cast. That is part of the reason I don't like the Big Finish audio productions. They went to other music, a big mistake in my opinion!
The theramin has haunted me since the 1960s.
I can close my eyes while listening to this and actually see the actors playing their roles in my head.

Dark Shadows is the Reason I became afraid of the Unknown as a preschooler. I've been a lifelong consumer of All things Horror. I am still this way at 60 years of age. ## BRILLIANT##

Dark Shadows was my favorite show growing up in the 60's, my into into Soap Operas.l grew up in NYC so l was able to meet some of the original cast n have photo albums of pictures of almost all of the D.S. cast.
Just finished listening to Return to Collinwood,brought back lots of memories.
Brought the Dark Shadows bumble gum cards every week next episode , fantastic drama of all times.I
I freaking cried like a baby when Carolyn read her mother's will! I loved this so much that I was so damned mad when it ended. But saddened to learn right after listening to this, that Christopher Pennock died on the 25th. He was on the Halloween reunion show last year and seemed well then. It definitely came as a shock and we've certainly lost so many of our Collins Port family lately. 😢
Big Finish Products has a ton of Dark Shadows audio books, that it's time to start listening to. I've resisted because of no Barnabas, well technically no Jonathan Frid but I'm ready to hear how it ends after finally hearing this wonderful new Dark Shadows story.
I miss Barnabas most of all.
I believe that the Big Finish stories take place between the end of the tv series and Return to Collingwood. Apart from those BF stories that are set within the timeline of the tv series. But I could be wrong.
As a fan of the series I glad I discovered this
I started to fall asleep listening to this and started to dream I was in Collinwood... there, now we have the opening for the next Dark Shadows reboot.
We don't need the current idiots in Hollywood & actors trying to re-do Dark Shadows since no one could compare to the original actors & version. We saw how Johnny Depp's attempt to try being Barnabus failed miserably ....

@@dragons8822 The problem is they made the movie into a farce-a crazy comedy. Dark Shadows was never funny. It was always creepy. Outrageously scary at times but always hauntingly terrifying! Any reboot should be done in that vein.

I freakin love this audio drama. I feel like it's the perfect type of nostalgic sequel, it manages to remind you of why you loved the show and the characters, and you can believe this is where they are all those years later. 🖤 If only this could've been in TV format.

I have the coffin set of Dark Shadows and realized how much i had not seen and apparemtly started watching it when Barnabas came on but there was so much to see before that including seeing how many actors they had on here maybe in there first tv appearances like the father from Different Strokes Conrad Bain in a one show appearance as the hotel front desk clerk.
So true. And before Mr. Bain appears in that first episode there is an actress on the train seated with Victoria who would eventually play Phyllis Lindstrom's mother in law on the sitcom "Phyllis" which spun off off "The Mary Tyler Moore Show".

I remember watching this as a kid running home from school everyday. Wish it had been an hour long drama. I enjoyed listening to this. Brings back memories. my memory of the scenes used in the series i can picture as I close my eyes. Thanks for these shows. Please make more . be awesome if they could remake like the original. I wonder what happened to all sets and furnature. I wish I could have something like a piece of furnature or even incorporate the original set incorporate into my home. Be like being there.
A company called Big Finish has produced a number of Dark Shadows audio plays featuring members of the original cast. They are available for sale as physical CD 's or digital download.

Great audio drama, but I have to say as someone who grew up watching the series, there is something intrinsically wrong with hearing those characters talking about plasma tv's, hot tubs and ebay. To me they always existed in there own world which never moved on.

Agreed. DS always sort of existed in a time of its own and independent of world events.
Couldn't agree more. It seems everything needs to be modernized, but sometimes that pulls us right out of a fantasy world, bringing the charm and nostalgia to a sudden, screeching halt. Too bad.

When I was a kid, I'd jump on my bicycle and furiously pedal home as fast as I could to watch Dark Shadows. If I could beat my siblings home, I got to sit in the most comfortable seat in our living room, and we got two episodes to view each day on Chicago area TV. Some episodes were very 😨 , but I couldn't stop watching! Later, I watched " House of Dark Shadows," and that was really creepy,cool, and scary 😨 😳! I never heard of this radio 📻 😳 drama version, and I'm going to savor it and save it ! Please try and find the next parts to post on UA-cam for all us crazy 🤪 DS fans !

The voice actors are really very good. 👍 Starts off well. Shame it is not a self-contained drama - that should have been made explicit. There is no ending, just loose ends. What a ballache after 1.75 hours. 😠
This is my first time seeing the word ballache. I had to check, and it seems to actually stem from an ache in the balls. Not a bad description of something that leaves one frustrated or expecting more. :D

Way too much happy talk in this. It's just not in keeping with the mood of the original series. Everybody sounds like they're doing a commercial of some kind, not Dark Shadows.
I thought the same thing. It was weird having them all talk like they were 'normal' and leading normal lives after all they've seen and heard and been through over the years. And I did expect them to say the best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup any second. 😜
