Great vid… Looks like the oil capacity increased on the 2023..?? Wonder what caused Kia to make that change.. Getting ready to do 1st oil change on our 2022.
Nice. Sometimes it’s worth doing the oil change yourself, as you know that it was done right. example, I got a Volvo XC90 from my brother for a good deal. He always took it to the Volvo dealer for oil changes, well they said they did and charged him premium for it. When I got the car , I could hardly pull out the dip stick, and when I got it out it was black and looked burnt. So up on the ramps, I had to use a breaker bar to get the bolts out to lower the shield. I purchased a metric tap to clear the threads and replaced them with stainless steel and Never Seeze . When I took out the drain plug, it looked like road tar. Then the filter, should I even describe what that looked like. Disgusting to say the least. Well cleaned up everything, new filter and Castrol oil for 1000 miles, did a change again and the engine then sounded like a new machine. When my brother came by , went for a ride and couldn’t believe the difference. Thanks for the video. We just got our 2023 SX Telluride a week and a half ago. Perhaps I’lll do the same thing. Thanks for posting.
If you don't see a video for the volvo definitely do it, these are so helpful and agree, if you want it done right gotta do it yourself. If a dealer is that negligent I'd absolutely go in and rip them a new one. No way should a reputable dealer do this, legit ones do everything by the book.
Thanks for the video! Any specific reason you did your first oil change at 3k? I have a 24 EX X-Line and was planning to change the oil at around 6k. I see you drove up on ramps, any good jack points in the front you are aware of to lift car up to put in jack stands on the pinch weld?
I apologize. I was never notified of your comment. First oil changes I try to do early due to breaking in the engine. I'd have to look at the jack points. I'll be doing the brakes soon so I'll have better information soon.
@@cooplife Thanks. Money wasn't the concern...time was. I was already 12K miles with no oil change and had a 400 mile trip coming last weekeknd. Luckily found what I needed at an auto-store. Did my own oil change (my first ever), felt good...
He did. 8 bolts @ 10mm. Drain bolt is 17mm and the filter housing is 27mm. Always easy to turn on the closed-captioning to help with info like this in these DIY videos
@@cooplife fram suck, to avoid warranty headaches and fights i use OEM until warranty goes out. If you use their filters they have no reason to deny some warranty repair.
@chrisrenaud1563 I did recently notice that bulletin from Kia about using OEM filters. Like you said, I'll use the KIA filters until the warranty runs out. I still wouldn't call WIX an inferior filter. *side note. Honda OEM filters are made by Fram. I stopped using them right away. Just because it's OEM doesn't mean its quality.
Not a good way to do an oil change! That oil filter housing will leak and I guarantee it ! I had mine on my Telluride much tighter than yours and it was seeping a little. Went back and torque to down to 26 foot pound. Plus it cost you nothing if you had changed the O ring on that oil housing !
Kia will not honor a warranty claim where a non-OEM filter can be blamed. It is irresponsible of you to recommend such a filter (no matter how good that filter may be). At least add a disclaimer to the video.
i apologize. I knew the warranty act prevented OEMs from denying claims based on who performed work (like oil changes), but I was unaware it also prevented denials based on aftermarket parts. Thank you.
Do you personally know or have ever heard a warranty be denied because of an oil filter not being what the dealership wanted? I don't think they can claim that the defects were do to any oil filter not being good enough without some proof that it was the cause of the failure. The documented maintenance has always sufficed in all instances I know of. They can request the information but I don't see this as a reason to deny warranty because they can't prove abuse or failed maintenance is the reason for failure.

How can you keep your new car warrantee by doing your own services ...?

Interesting, thanks.
How often we should change engine filter and cabin filter in Kia Telluride SX?
Engine filter I'll change every 12,000 miles and cabin filter 3 times a year. Spring, summer and fall to keep allergens down.
Do I really need Socket+wrench setup for the oil change ? I have an adjustable wrench. Would That suffice ?
If its a big enough wrench. It wont chew up the end like a wrench could. Its about $7 on amazon for the socket.

Amazon garage says that Wix WL 10033 is the wrong filter ?
It's says the same for mine. Its correct.
The Wix is the correct filter.
I did mine over the weekend and it only took about 6.5 Quarts to refill it am I missing something? I ran it then rechecked it a BUNCH of times.
You have to account for the oil that will sit in your oil filter as well. Check your owners manual for the exact amount of oil.
