Learning pen spinning - How I learned Continuous Charge/Charge pen spinning trick

- Issues with learning the charge? I captured some issues that I experienced and how to resolve those issues to make learning this pen spinning trick easier.
From my experience, when I encounter an issue, I usually take my time with learning as I did with the Charge. This can be from me slowing down and having more control movements of my fingers or pen all the way to looking at the "why" the pen moves/behave a certain way.
I forgot to mention that some of the solutions and finger movements in how to resolve the issues are very subtle movements (e.g moving index finger in front of middle, moving index finger behind middle, turning wrist slightly to the side, keeping finger straight while "bending" at the knuckles). So it is very hard to notice those movements.
I hope that the video captures information that helps you in learning the pen trick Charge. I received a request from one of my viewer, and I hope that this video helps you greatly!
Remember to keep at it and keep practicing! You will eventually get the trick down!

After watching so many videos about charge and still can't do it, I found this video and now I literally can do it!
Oh snap O.O!! You're too good Animartist
Definitely the best Charge tutorial out there. I’m really glad that you explained that your index finger is supposed to go in front of your middle finger, because when other people did a tutorial I was so confused on how they got it to spin sideways. Thanks!
I'm glad that the video helped you!
It did not, index finger in front of middle finger does nothing.

out of all tutorial, this one finally made me do the spin! Thank u so much!
I'm glad to hear that the video helped you learned the charge! :D
Hope you enjoy the video!
i got a great tip for every one of you who are trying to learn the charge trick! If u your pen is just shaking in one place and its not doing a circle, just hold it in your fingers, take the tip of the pen with your other hand, and try to draw a circle, it will let you feel what that movement feels like, I struggled to do that and after trying my method it really helped! Now all i need is some speed haha.
Thanks!
A other tip you dont actually have to draw a circle it's actually a triangle but when you do speed and go smoothly it looks liek a circle
I've been trying to do this move for like months now and I gave up two months ago, I tried to do it again today in my class and to my surprise I actually did it, so I went to this video to see how to actually move it correctly because although I could spin it, it kept falling off 10 seconds in
OMG, thanks so much I just learned it today and I am so happy. Thanks for you’re tutorial! I hope you are doing alright!!
my only problem now is it keeps slipping into the edge! and it ruins the continuum
Me too
Bro should’ve asked a question to those 2 students before going to the next person 💀
now try charge reverse
i am practicing it ad it's pain in the ass
Alright younlok! I'll take a look into that trick
Lol..i can do reverse charge ..and i find it easy but this normal one is a pain in the ass for me..
I need help here, the pen keeps slipping out of my hand ( I have very small hands btw), Is it because my grip isn't tight enough or something else I'm doing wrong?
Sry for late reply, usually it’s because the pen is too big for u, but that’s no worries, a simple fix is just to adjust where your two fingers (not thumb) lie on the pen. Can be a bit up or down if that makes sense.
This is so nice!
Your tutorials are easy to learn😀😃

Best tutorial ever!
No
can you plz make one on the finger pass, I'm having trouble with it
I gotchu Delon. I'll make a video on the finger pass when I get a chance :D
Thanks for this video. I'm new to pen spinning too. I first learned the charge in the 2-3 position, which is surprisingly easier? Still haven't mastered it though (not getting a nice 360 circle). For the 2-3 charge, do you move your 3rd finger like you do for the 1st finger in the 1-2 charge? I'm asking because I see 1-2 charge tutorials that say move your 2nd finger instead of your 1st and I am confused and don't know which one to move...(both my 1 and 2 are clumsy so it makes no difference as a starting point...I just wanted to know which is more common?)
I would say take the advice of the other tutorial on moving your second finger instead of the first finger for the charge 1-2. When I learn pen spinning tricks, I just do random things that helps me, and I talk about the things I did to help me learn the tricks in the video. Some of my viewers continue to provide insights, tips, and advice after watching my videos to further improve the trick I learned since I may be doing it slightly wrong (They're super awesome). For the charge 1-2, I move my index finger to grab the pen to reposition it when it starts to "slide" off of position. As of now, I'm doing the charge, in slot 1-2, moving with my second finger as I became more familiar with the charge because it feels smoother, BUT I still continue to move my index to grab the pen to reposition it if it starts to slide to one side more (getting use to the trick). For slot 2-3, I move my 3rd finger to do the charge :D.
Hey it’s been a year, did you master it yet?
Omg tysm i learned it easily it took me a long time but i still learned tho
I still have problems with it researching the edge
Do the fingerless thumbaround rev on the next tutorial :D
That'll be something to look into! Thanks for your suggestions Br0ken_!
No thumb then right?

haha sometimes fingers do be acting like that :D. Keep it up Alessandro! You got this man! xd
i love your videos and your presentation to much keep it up
Thanks for the learn of charge
how do you make it so the pen wont slide in the middle of your fingers?
When I try to do it it just looks like I'm moving my pen from side to side
wow wow wow i did not have a word to tanke and to appreciate you thanks so much i want to subscribe you10000000 times thank you bro.
I can do it but how can I get it to stop slipping off?
Ayeee! Happy to hear that you're able to do the charge. It sounds like you're able to do the charge continuously if you're experiencing a slippage with the pen. So that's good news!
The slipping is tricky. I fixed this issue when I lifted my index finger from the pen when I was doing the continuous charge. You can think of this lift as loosening your grip of the pen slightly while slowing down the pen speed so you can adjust the pen back to the center of gravity. Also, I adjusted my palm more towards the down positioning or up positioning depending on where the pen is falling so gravity itself can pull the pen position back in place (I don't do this anymore as I gotten extremely comfortable with doing the cont charge).
What I mean by slowing down the pen, right when the pen is completing one charge and you're about to swing up, swing it up like you normally do, but don't swing it with too much power.
For me, when I do the charge, I am above the center of gravity of the pen by a little bit. I stare at the center of gravity of my pen (it's indicated by a line so I know where it is) so I would try to maintain and stay above that point. When I see it slipping, I would create that bounce from the pen so I can grab/readjust the positioning of the pen between my fingers. The bounce will look huge in the beginning, but the more you practice, the bounce will be extremely become subtle.
I find that it helped me, when I started off slowly in terms of speed and slowly increase the cont charge speed as I progress.
Hopefully, this helps you!
It's frustrating sometimes when you're learning something new. What's amazing is that you're taking the time to learn a pentrick all the while asking for ways to improve. Which is always a strong thing to do! You're greatness my friend. Keep pushing forward! I know you'll be able to learn this pen trick in no time. It's what you do :D

Hey! This is a good tutorial, but I’m struggling with making the pen go up while spinning it, I do the same steps and it spins good for a half then coming up it just goes straight!
Very very good job!

Its so hard to move my index from the spin do you have better way?
Have you tried to move your middle finger in place of the index? :D OR have you tried slot 2 and 3? I find doing charge in finger slot 2 and 3 is easier.

Hey Vinkex, welcome to the world of penspinning :D. How long you been practicing the charge for?
DawaSmood I've been practicing like for some days now but always a short period of time (i practiced some months like that for the thumb around)
Like i practice when i got time
@@vinkex9866 Ahh okay I see. I usually practice when I have time as well. The best advice is to keep practicing because that is what will help you out the most. Usually, when someone starts learning pen spinning, from my personal experience, it takes an extreme amount of time to learn in the beginning, but once you get your fingers familiar with specific motions from certain tricks, it'll get easier and you'll pick up learning new pen tricks faster. Remember, it's not about how fast or how long it takes for you to learn something. At the end, all that matters is you are able to do the trick :D.
If you can follow me on my instagram, we can chat in the dms to see your progress thus far on your charge :D
DawaSmood ok
Keeps hitting my thumb. :(
I do it slot 2 and 3 and can’t get any momentum in the first place. Everyone is saying it’s flying all over the place, for me it’s just stuck there between my fingers with little to no momentum D:
oh my GOD ! WOW
I cant do it :(
So.. I just started learning it and tbh it looks so awkward and the pen keeps sliding of my fingers and the motion is not circular🤡 its driving me crazy lol but I'll keep just practicing!! it's my third trick to learn from the basics 4 ... only sonic is left to go after I master this ...
My problem is that I'm not extending my fingers.... the pen moves so fast that I can't react .... I'm learning it in slot 2 3... what is the most useful slot to learn it in ?
🤡 can you give me some advice?
Hey Tanjiro! It's definitely frustrating when you're learning something new and the pen is not doing what you're wanting it to do.
I wanna say that you're doing great so far since you got 2 out of the 4 fundamentals down! Great job on that! You're definitely progressing upward and continuing in that direction!
I'm sure you already know, to me, the charge is one of the difficult of the basic four to learn bc of the circular motion. I would say that finger slot 23 is a good finger slot to learn the charge, but if you manage to try other finger slot and you're able to get it down, that's awesome too. I find that once you're able to learn a pentrick, transferring it to other finger slot will be easier because you understand what you have to do UNLESS your fingers have limited flexibility/mobility which is a different problem.
Generally, when it comes to me, when the pen is moving too fast, and I lose control of it, I purposely slow the pen down. That way, I can develop more control of the pen with my fingers and slowly increase the speed once I get more familiar with the motion. When you do slow down the pen, the pen will look wobbly and not smooth so bear with that. That circular motion and smoothness will come over time once your fingers get more familiar with the trick.
Keep it up Tanjiro! Lets be real. You have 2 out of the 4 fundamentals down so far! That's AMAZING especially since you just started. You're half way there and almost done with the fundamentals. With your track record, you'll definitely get that 4/4 soon. Like in the Demon Slayer anime, Tanjiro overcome his adversary even when they outclass him. Learning the charge is a piece of cake for you :D
@@DawaSmood Hey ! THANKS ALOT !! Now I'm so excited to hold my mod and start training!! I actually train my fingers every day especially my pinkei lol so I could move them freely!
I'll try to slow things down with the pen and not cause the pen to fly right to my face like what happened before ( yesterday it went flying right to my face but I'm fine now lol )
And as you said! I'm progressing in a good way ! I'll get this trick down with practicing and hard work ! I mean.. I'm tanjiro! Hard work and never giving up is my way in life! And I kill demons every day ! A pen spinning trick should be a piece of cake for me lol ! I'll try to convince Nezuko and Zenitsu to try pen spinning but I might keep that for later because I'm keeping my pen spinning progress a secret lol 😂 tho I'm practically with an unbalanced LED mod which is giving me some hard time 😂 I'll just be able to get my hands on a flying panda after months so I should just do my best rn 😼

When i was learning charge i yeeted my pen every where lol
It's okay, I too yeeted my pen a few time when learning the charge :D
Can you help me? My pen doesnt like spin or slip its like stiff, idk if im the problem or the pen, should I get a mod? And if I should then where can I?
Starting off, it's quite normal for the pen to feel "stiff". If you're learning the fundamentals, you can learn it with a #2 pencil that's not sharpen. The reason why I say not sharpen is because the pen has length to it. A pen mod would definitely make it easier to learn pen tricks.
Usually, pen mods are from normal pens that have their parts taken out and put together in one pencil/pen. There are pen mods videos out there that show you how to make one :D
I'm actually left handed but i do pen spin on my right hand so the video is doing the spin on the left hand and it's pretty hard and confusing and my first spin is on the right but he did it on the left so that's kinda confusing to which would i do my first spin on the right or the left.
Man, you're having a whole crisis right now! I'm right-handed, but I spin with my left :D
I did it
after stretching my fingers out, it spins for a bit but all the steps after that, it just wiggles.
Aww noo! T_T. Getting the pen to come around in a full circular motion is difficult
I cant get the pen to go in a smooth, round swirling motion between just my two fingers knuckles....it is TICKING ME OFFFFF. T_T
The smooth and round swirling finger is most definitely the toughest part in learning the charge T_T.
Usually, when I get frustrated, I take a break or I attempt to do the pen trick 10-15 minutes a day and overtime, I slowly get the pentrick down. That way, I won't have to worry too much about the pen trick and do other fun things to distract myself.
You'll definitely get it down Lexa! I believe in you and your greatness. That's how good you are :D
@@DawaSmood That is definitely the sweetest reply I have read on UA-cam :)
It is not just that I can't get it to go smoothly, but I cannot even manage to make it point right left and up, like the triangle motion you gotta learn to make it go in a circular motion....
It really got me thinking if my fingers are to stiff and just not made for it^^
@@Bakingmiles you can try hold it more loose, it helps the pen go more smoothly. but not too loose otherwise it'll fall :)
@@Bakingmiles Do you mind me asking what type of pen you're using to learn the charge? Learning the charge is really challenging for sure, but no challenge is ever difficult for you Lexa :D
When I do the charge I just feel like I am doing circles with my pen that are too easy that I think I am doing it wrong like how do Ik i am right?
If the tip of the pen that is rested on your thumb, spins in a circle and comes back to the starting part (the thumb), you are most likely doing it right.
It's hard I'm left handed😭
I have a habit of making the bottom of the pen/pencil go left how do i fix that?
Hmm are you learning the charge with your right hand?
Thx
learned left handed spinning
What I try to to the literal first thing like when my fingers are supposed to go up the pen doesn't move. Is there an easier way?
If your pen isn't going up, the easiest way to get it to go up is to add a flick with your fingers. What I mean by that is, you start the pen in the same position. The only difference is, you'll want to bend your fingers by the second joint like you're trying to make a C shape with your fingers. Of course the thumb isn't needed to be bent or anything. Then you'll straighten out your fingers fast. The motion from this flick will cause the pen to go up from pure momentum.
From there, you can move your index behind your middle finger or your middle finger in front of your index (however you see the motion :D). the pen should change its position. Of course, this won't cause the circular motion of the pen to occur. It's training your fingers to get use to the motion. Once you build up enough repetitiveness doing this, you will slowly add circular motion to it.
Generally, when someone is starting out learning penspinning, learning pen tricks will be quite difficult because it's something new to the fingers and concept. It can be frustrating at times. I'm happy to hear that you're trying to learn the charge Duane! I know you got it in you to learn this pen trick! You'll get it as long as you continue practicing!
My charge isn't spinning 360 its just spinning like you're driving a boat
How the hell am I better going the opposite way he is going
Me: using a eyeliner instead of an pen
He sounded a little like mr makey
I cant do it in a normal pen
😊
I just cant😢
It’s just the pen won’t form a smooth circle while I’m doing it
I hear you! Getting the pen to form a smooth circle is quite difficult starting off. I know you'll be able to get it down as long as you continue to dedicate time to it!
Sorry, let's go

@@DawaSmood no problem
Show us how u learned every pen spinning trick pls ^ω^
That is the goal :D
When I try and drift it at the start the pen it won’t drift it stays still any help
One of the things you can do is whichever finger slot you're learning on you can try to keep your fingers bent at the start of the charge. For example, if you're tryin to learn the charge in finger slot 12, you can have your index and middle fingers bent by its second joint. Almost like making a hook shape like a pirate, but with your fingers. from there you can straighten your fingers out straight while moving your middle finger slightly "behind" or on "top" of your index finger. While you do this, you can have your pen at a slight diagonal position and not perpendicular to your fingers (the pen is diagonal with one of the end point of the pen coming from thumb area).
The motion from your bent fingers going straight should help in the initial swing of the pen. Eventually, once you get use to doing the charge, you'll ween off of those bent fingers. If you're still struggling with the charge, I like watching KTrinh93 tutorials. He has a good tutorial on the charge :D. I know you'll be able to get it in no time Manburger :D. Keep it up!
