Some of the cars during the 90s were bulletproof, One of the 90s cars I want is a mid 90s Buick Century, and jam pack a 3800 in that puppy and make it a cute looking little sleeper, something that everyone laughs at because it sounds like a little clapped out beater... until it's rolling smoke from the front fenders off the stop light screaming like a banshee.
Yeah when I explain to people why Subaru was legendary for reliability, I point to any of the 90-98 EJ cars. The EJ18 and EJ22 especially were just totally reliable. The EJ20 we didn't get until 2003 was always generally bulletproof as well. Only a few years with more prevalent issues they sorted quickly.
The Buick 3800 is def a monster for living forever! Just saw a supercharged 3800 on Facebook Marketplace in NY that VGAPR Garage sent me a link to. I think it was a 96 Century. Thing looked like a beast. I want to make a sleeper out of a late 90s Lincoln Mk VIII. I think we both like our 90s cars. :P
I do excavation and plowing and we spray everything with diesel fuel. It works great
How often do you use it? Seems it would wick away faster than a heavier oil or a wax like substance.

For real! Wish I had taken the GoPro and gotten footage of the drive. It was so nuts. Didn't expect it to be so crazy despite winter storm warnings.
Damn, I drove through the white mountains earlier this year I think through 25A?, in the middle of the night and in the fog and that was an adventure. I can imagine driving those roads in a blizzard as being pretty hectic.
Yeah this was uhhh... Pretty epic. Just picture two first gen Imprezas through winding snow blowing mountains with like no other traffic around. Somewhere, a Japanese man cried a single tear of joy.
I've looked up and down for a 93 but have only ever found FWD or completely rusted out shit stains. Great find, looking forward to seeing it! I'd always wanted to have a 93 with an STI driveline and ej207. I like the 2l over the 2.5l engines. Keep building!
Right? At first when I saw this car I got super excited, but then realized it was likely a FWD. When I messaged her and she told me AWD I got too hype, hah. Then the fact it still had rocker panels, I was sold. :P
This car really does feel super light even compared to a late 90s Impreza. My FWD was supposedly 2350 and I think this is about 2450. With the later cars being more like 2750 to 2850, it makes a big difference!
I prefer the EJ20 as well! I definitely MIGHT get a turbo drivetrain in the future, but I pretty much want to focus on my other projects first. Can't imagine this thing with 250+ horsepower though. Def would be worthy of rally. ;)

I won't lie, the idea of having a completely stock appearance purple 1993... Just with nice wheels, a classy exhaust, and a turbo engine? Ultimate Impreza sleeper for sure. Possibly in the future, but for now it's just getting all the little issues fixed, ultimate undercoating and inner panel protection, and daily driving!
I'm catching up after 2 weeks without Internet or phone. Rock n Roll, Man! Excellent score! And of course, I made it all the way to the end.

Drown it in cavity wax. Seriously. It's not just the outside that needs protection. Every single hole you can see, pump it it full of cavity wax until it's gushing out. Also, if you do end up WRX swapping it, i'd say go FMIC so you can keep the original hood on it.

That brake drum info was a mouthful lol. When you do undercoat it be sure it's not rubber based. If so stay away from it bc it'll end up rotting the car from the inside out. That subie you got, the turn signals on the fenders a JDM car? It's pretty sweet bc the Mitsubishi's I've seen and drive I've them with those signals on the fenders and it's like a European/Japanese/JDM but I wouldn't know bc the American models don't have them for the car that's made for one year what did you get for it?
Hahaha yeah I wish I had planned it a bit better and actually shown the adjuster when explaining. Wasn't easy to change when editing. Was too focused on showing off the car soon I guess. :P
Will def be staying away from the rubber undercoating. Plan to use a cosmoline like product and then bar and chain oil to seep in everywhere and repel water. Will be coating inside panels as well.
It's actually normal for any first gen Impreza, 1993-2001, to have fender turn signals. I love then! In my opinion they are actually better for showing people you are turning as well.
The turn signals in front on the bumper are also functional. You can get JDM/Euro clear lenses for fender/bumper/corner though which I like even more. Or darker amber or light yellow lenses!
I paid $500 for this car and that's a good price considering how clean it is. I'm pretty excited about it. :)

I still want to keep her whole and do something fun later, but this car at least lessens the blow if I do eventually let her go. Will definitely be robbing a few cosmetic/interior parts for now though.

The 2002 WRX was definitely purchased with flipping in mind down the road though. Pretty easy profit there.
