  • Four day solo canoeing and hiking trip to the remote wilderness of Glen Affric in the North West highlands of Scotland. This glen is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in the country and is home to an important remnant of the ancient pine forest that once covered much of the Scottish Highlands. My goal was to journey up through the Glen over the course of several days to ultimately climb one of the great remote and inaccessible mountains of Scotland: Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan.

I have done that mountain too - along with the 3 other Munros nearby - a very hard day.
The Anatoly Boukreev quote at the end was extra special too.
    Thank you.

Back in the 70s I along with a few friends cycled/walked through Glen Affric to spend a night at Glen Affric youth hostel, an experience on its own, the weather was bleak but the scenery exceptional.

Fantastic video and story telling sir. Love it. I'm lucky enough to have all of this within a couple of hours of me and want to get into doing this kind of thing. For now I just got a basic kayak to play around on calm waters, but will build up to better gear and doing these kind of trips.

Spectacular! Great video & what a fantastic place to be. My first ever canoe trip was on Loch Beinn a Mheadhoin about 30 years ago. We had some challenging weather that time too! And the midges were horrendous but what an amazing experience it was.
