Mountains by Canoe: Glen Affric

- Four day solo canoeing and hiking trip to the remote wilderness of Glen Affric in the North West highlands of Scotland. This glen is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful in the country and is home to an important remnant of the ancient pine forest that once covered much of the Scottish Highlands. My goal was to journey up through the Glen over the course of several days to ultimately climb one of the great remote and inaccessible mountains of Scotland: Sgurr nan Ceathreamhnan.
This film truly blew me away, what a lovely beautiful canoe film with some outstanding mountain walking scenery. Five Star Film ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stunning cinematography, one of the best shot pieces I’ve watched on UA-cam. Really wanted to see some stuff to camera so we could share your thoughts along journey. Looking forward to your next one !
I'm going to have to watch this again...............marvellous.....
Superb short story......absolutely loved it thank you.
Loved it !
I have done that mountain too - along with the 3 other Munros nearby - a very hard day.
The Anatoly Boukreev quote at the end was extra special too.
Thank you.
Fantastic loved that.
What a great vid. Affric from a different perspective. 👍
Wow. Absolutely stunning footage. A very easy watch. Have subscribed.👍
Simple, beautiful and unpretentious, very refreshing.
Pure and authentic. Thank you good man

Your production quality really did the place justice. After a Glen I keep secret to myself Affric is a close second best.

Back in the 70s I along with a few friends cycled/walked through Glen Affric to spend a night at Glen Affric youth hostel, an experience on its own, the weather was bleak but the scenery exceptional.
Brilliant video 👍👍👍
Great Video. Glen Affric is one of my favourite places in Scotland - such a wonderful wilderness. Enjoyed the drone scenery 😀
Really enjoyed your video, thanks for the inspiration it has given me.
This deserves two thumbs up. Awesome video👍👍
I enjoyed that, thank you!
Fantastic video and story telling sir. Love it. I'm lucky enough to have all of this within a couple of hours of me and want to get into doing this kind of thing. For now I just got a basic kayak to play around on calm waters, but will build up to better gear and doing these kind of trips.
Lovely video. Stunning scenery and what nice weather you had. Makes me want to jump in the car and go.
Well done and thank you.
David

This is an awesome video. The narration made me feel like i was walking along with you. More please!
Cheers!
Same here Jamie, well said.
Just got this recommended to me. Cracking wee, well edited video, what a trip, what an inversion. 😎👌 My last wild camp was nearby in September on the Corbett Sgurr Gaorsaic just below the Munro you did. Need to get back into the Glen Affric Munros tho.
That was quite a different adventure, mixing a canoe trip with a mountain hike , we dont see this too often on UA-cam , thanks for sharing
Fantastic video so relaxing to watch, we were up there around that time , weather was great didn’t manage the Munro just a lovely walk around Loch Affric so beautiful, thank you for sharing. Keep them coming 😊
Spectacular! Great video & what a fantastic place to be. My first ever canoe trip was on Loch Beinn a Mheadhoin about 30 years ago. We had some challenging weather that time too! And the midges were horrendous but what an amazing experience it was.
@Gwilym Morrison
Watching this on a Sunday eve while the rest of the country is seemingly glued to something called football.
What you've done is my thing & I could watch it over & over again.
Beautiful footage, narration & scenery.
I now want to do the same route & climb, but it's now winter & I'm unsure it's wise or not?
A trip I will emulate 👏 thanks for the work in putting this vlog together 👍
I want to do it ASAP Tam, though it's now Winter & i'm unsure if it's wise or not.
Gwilym, That’s was fantastic!! Mrs sent this to me which is normally a hint that I’m to start planning this as our next adventure!! 😊 Can you confirm the Lochan you camped next to please? [grid or name] Thank you for the effort you’ve put in to make a lovely little adventure film. D&L 😊
Fantastic Gwil, really inspiring stuff. Agree with dogboy, narration adds so much.
Stunning scenery!
Inspiring! and appreciate the planning and editing that goes into this over and above the adventure - keep em coming. 👍👍
Thanks for the kind comment!
Well said, I totally agree.
This was incredible. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Hi Jamie. Thanks for the comment. Your own film of your trip to Loch Maree and Fionn Loch was one of the inspirations for this film, so it means a lot to know you even watched my offering, let alone enjoyed it!
I'm really pleased it inspired you,@@gwil_morrison!
I paddled Glen Affric a couple of times last year but sadly didn't manage to paddle as far up as you did. After seeing your film, I'm itching to go back in the spring. I look forward to seeing your future videos mate! All the best.
this was great to watch, thanks for sharing your adventure, may I ask what equipment you used to film it please? the steadyness of the camera when you were pull the canoe into land was unreal, steady as whilst the canoe wobbled. thanks again
Wonderful video journal Gwilym, One of the best I’ve ever seen 🤩. What drone where you using for the areal shots ?
Such an amazing journey! Thank you for sharing! What camera are you using? This footage is top quality 😀
The camera for this trip is "only" a Gopro Hero 8.
Great video, which high lochan did you camp at ?
It's called An Gorm Lochan.
