The RPi and other boards are one thing, but the build quality of the case is a masterpiece.
He sells them on Carousell for $225 USD (without pi). The price is decent, considering the quality of the parts and the quality of the design. I would have gone for one but he only has silver and my rack is all black.

Really beautiful case! Love the SD card replacement!
Looks amazing. Super clean
I have seen 3 of your projects. All are very impressive!
这个天窗开的好呀😁
做工精細👍
Such a clean built !
Great video! Do you happen to know where I get one of these enclosures with display? Have a couple of Pi 3 B+ doing nothing, would love to see how it sound compare to my Mac mini + LPS running Audirvāna app as digital source. I’m located in HK, thanks in advance!
Thanks. It's available at:
Check out 'DIY Raspberry Pi Streamer / Transport / Player KIT', available at HK$1,600 on #Carousell: carousell.com/p/1145507551
However I'm sorry that it only supports Pi 4 at the moment, but if you could lend me the Pi 3 for a couple of weeks for dimensional measurements, I can make it support Pi 3 as well.
Thank you for sharing this - do you have a link to the power supply board you used?
The power supply board was made by myself, not sure if I still have stocks in hand. Let me check and get back to you shortly.
I don't have exactly the same board but a newer version with a voltage reference TL431. Please PM me at facebook.com/SMPGadgets so that I can provide a quote to you based on shipping locations.
Hi
Nice work!!!
How do you manage the power on-off ???
Thnaks
Thanks. It is designed to run 7x24. The screen will dim or turn off when stopped. There is a shutdown command in the touch screen to shut it down properly. However since PCP is entirely running on RAM, there will not be any harm to the system even if you turn off the main switch at the back.
Yeah, it looks very nice proffesional. If it's from a factory. You can make these and sell them. 👍
Vincent, I have an Allo Boss2 with RPi4 running moOde I purchased from Allo. Does your kit have everything I need to install my Allo Boss2 in it?
Could you make an English version of your video? The CC auto translate does not work?
Hi, thanks for watching my video. You can click the CC button to show the English subtitles, auto translate doesn't work but I already input the English subtitles manually.
I'm glad that you still have Allo Boss 2, it seems like Allo is no longer producing this HAT. The kit supports it, but this kit is no longer available unfortunately. If you need Moode audio, you may consider R23-MAX. It supports Moode audio as well.
Looks great. English subtitles would be much appreciated though. 👍
Thanks. May be a bit difficult for a UA-cam newbie. Will try to figure out how to do that.
@@vincentfong4154 thank you so much. Good luck. 🙂
@@JTT2505 Just had a chance to add the subtitles manually. Please let me know if there is anything I can help.
@@vincentfong4154 thanks 🙂👍
@@vincentfong4154 I’m going to learn Cantonese because of you🤣👊. Dodze mgoi
hi!it is a very clean job well done! i have a few questions:1) don't you need to dissipate some 20 watts of heat on the lm317?
2) could you please tell us more about the display?
3) which model is it?
4) it is powered by the ribbon from the raspberry?
5) you did not opt for the ethernet connection. doesn't the raspberry wifi give interference or is it negligible?
thanks
Thanks. Please refer to my comments below:
1. Actually heat generated is around 10W, it is dissipated thru the aluminum case.
2 & 3. Waveshare 5" LCD display
www.waveshare.com/product/displays/lcd-oled/lcd-oled-1/5inch-dsi-lcd.htm
4. Yes
5. I was actually using an external USB WIFI dongle, not the built-in WIFI. The built-in WIFI was disabled, the USB WIFI dongle was used because I needed connection for demo. Tried both WIFI dongle and Ethernet, heard no audible difference. But Ethernet is better as once the device entered power saving mode, the WIFI dongle cannot kick it ON sometimes.
@@vincentfong4154 thank you 👍🏻it is a great job
Beautiful
That’s really cool, good job!
好犀利啊!
Very nice! It's it possible to have a balanced xlr output?
Yes, IQ Audio DAC PRO has XLR outputs. I'm working on a build with that DAC, will share with you once completed.
@@vincentfong4154 Smashing. Looking forward to it. Thank you.
I've now seen the HIFIBERRY DAC2 PRO XLR. Looks similar, same DAC chip. Audio Science Review says it measures better.
wonderful!!
I'm interested about how you made the case...some more information?
without a case like this you can't even start....
Thanks. The case was fabricated with a CNC machine. I'll shoot a video of how to assemble the case later.
Hello! Great review! Tell me, is there a good external DAC, does it make sense to use a linear power supply for a raspberry streamer with a hi-fi coax and toslink digital output board only?
Thanks. I think it's better to have a LPS for a digital transport as high frequency noise can still be coupled to the other systems through physical connection (except toslink). Apart from having an advantage of less noise, when compared to a switching mode power supply, a LPS is more robust and reliable.
There are lots of good external DAC in the market, honestly I haven't tested many yet. Maybe you can take a look at whathifi:
www.whathifi.com/products/hi-fi/dacs
Hello Vincent.
I would want to get the other parts apart from the repsberry pi.
I would want to build similar music Jukebox with coin selector.
Just out of interest what brand is the case? It's a nice clean build 👌🏻
No brand. It's a DIY case, designed by myself, fabricated in the factory.
Please let me know if you’ll be selling these as a kit. Very interested! Amazing work!
That’s really cool!
Hello, how are you, do you have the CAD design of the cabinet? Or where could I buy a cabinet of those? Thank you very much!
Hi Miguel, the cabinet, together with other components, is available at Carousell:
carousell.app.link/Qc9XlYDsopb
and Facebook Marketplace:
facebook.com/marketplace/item/5193415684010062/
Wish i understood Cantonese and have to say that's a lovely build
Thanks. No need to understand Cantonese, you can turn on CC and watch the English subtitles.
Good for DIY 👍👍
Good job
Missing. Cooler fan
Actually a cooling fan is not required. Besides the electrical noise, a cooler fan will kill the touch screen after several shutdown if a protection diode is not installed.
What does the kit include and does it cater for 240 volts, please?
Hi Geoff, the power transformer can be tailor-made for 240V, but it takes some time (usually a week or two) with extra 10 USD. Just for your quick reference the touch screen is included, but not Pi 4 or DAC. For more details of what components are included in the kit please refer to the BOM below:

Does plugging DAC hat to GPIO in a way you did requires any messing with settings or does it work right away ?
You have to choose the correct audio output device under squeezelite settings. For example, in this machine Allo Boss2 DAC should be selected in the drop down menu. Otherwise you'll get an error saying squeezelite is not running.
@@vincentfong4154 Thank you for a fast reply, I meant plugging the DAC in a way that it is not directly over the Pi but rotated by 180 degrees. Does it work just like that or did you have to change some settings on the Pi ?
@@efenditube oh sorry I got it wrongly. The HAT is not 180 degree rotated, it is designed to work like that. I meant, unlike other DAC HAT, it is not located exactly on top of raspberry pi.
@@vincentfong4154 thank you 😊
Hi Vincent, That is a great job. I am essentially planning to do what you did. I am more interested in the software aspect of it. Would you share your recipe book for Raspberry Pi software setup and installation? thanks.
Thanks. You may refer to my blog for more details. Hope it helps:

@@vincentfong4154 very helpful thanks
Thanks for sharing your work. This looks beautifully done. I am struggling with some PiCore settings now and will look at your blog for help.
Hello Vincent. This is really impressive work. Clean, simple and high quality! You just encourage two DIY'ers to follow this path :). Would you mind to share the diagram of supply board or is it a commercial product?
Thanks Konrad. This LPS board is just a simple LM317 + a PNP transistor. The detailed schematic is available at the application note of LM317.
@@vincentfong4154 thanks for information. What about the electrolit capacitors, are they on "both sides" of LM317?
@@konradwiniarski basically yes. A large array of caps should be placed before the regulator. A smaller cap can be used after regulation
@@vincentfong4154 thanks! One more question. What inductor did you placed? It's after the bridge, right?
@@konradwiniarski 5mH in this streamer, upgraded to 8mH in new versions
Are we able to add a SATA ssd to this setup to play flac format from it?
Yes, but you will need a USB to sata interface in order to make it work.
hello, do you have a schematic of the power circuit or a link on aliexpress?
Hi, you can refer to the data sheet of LM317, scroll down to page 17, there's a current booster circuit example. You can remove TIP73 and the 500R resistor for a simpler version.

Thanks. 有興趣可以留意STEALTH V3,有好多update。
Good job missing cooler fan
Thanks but there's no need for a cooler fan. The fan will contribute lots of electrical noise.
