  • Formula 1’s off-track controversies show no sign of abating in 2024. What’s more, the string of negative headlines has exposed F1’s lack of leadership at a time when it’s under fire on and off track.
The latest big story is F1 Academy managing director Susie Wolff filing a criminal complaint in France against the FIA.
With F1 constantly grabbing headlines for all the wrong reasons in 2024, the lack of leadership has been shockingly exposed in recent months.
That’s not just a criticism of FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem. F1 is effectively run by a combination of the FIA as the regulator and commercial rights holder Liberty Media.
Amid all of this, Formula 1 Group CEO Stefano Domenicali has also been conspicuous by his absence when it comes to tackling F1's various controversies.

That has been the case since forever. If F1 was ever managed by people that just liked racing it happened in its first 10 years max. Once things got big it was all about power and money.
People treat this stuff as something new and that's senseless.

@@mmjohns2705 It seems at the moment they made up the initial complaint at least. The FIA can investigate people but they should at least need some probable cause to investigate especially if they will publicly announce such an investigation (strange they didn't make an announcement concerning the multiple investigations into the FIA president). So unless they reveal some major evidence otherwise, this seems to be just some random baseless accusation they broadcast to the media.
Also as stated in my earlier comment, she is not involved in any f1 decisions and has no access to any confidential information involving f1. You claim its some insane conflict of interest but have yet to give any reasonable way that she could have acquired any important information. Simply stating she works for FOM is not enough as FOM have rules and systems in place to stop the spread of such information. The only people I've seen complaining about a conflict of interest are random commenters like yourself who probably have no idea about the systems in place and which the 9 other teams all find satisfactory and have raised no concerns in regards to her hiring.

I've commented before on these people calling for transparency. If it was them, they'd move heaven & earth to keep it quiet. Investigations are not held openly or announced until a result is found. HR or security related issues must, by privacy law, be done without allowing alleged or inappropriate actions of any kind out into the open. If someone is falsely accused then a "transparent" investigation will still destroy their career. If someone is guilty, then a press release can be issued. Transparency is anything but and only creates a media fueled circus. Which of course, is the whole point of this.

People keep mentioning that these "controversies" paint F1 in a bad light? You're kidding right? You know why people tune in to Drive to Survive and watch soap operas and dramas? This just adds to the entertainment. F1 has always been about the rich and powerful manoeuvring themselves and jockeying for position and power. You played into the games by harassing Horner and were useful pawns in the grand scheme. The people who put all this out there and "leak" info to the press/media do so because they know they can USE you and your desire for personal/company prestige. The problem with too much of the F1 commentariat is that they only know how to play the Parrot. They have no in house investigative teams to actually break anything new or to step outside of the internal game.
Watching the team boss press conferences recently proves this for anyone who doesn't know already. Just point out any journo who will actually ask a left field probing question, there aren't any because they fear the loss of "privileged" access. I mean when Wolff and Brown kept calling for transparency, who actually bothered to ask either, how does their internal process for such matters differ from Red Bulls and what examples do they have to demonstrate it? Hmm, nobody.

      1. the turbo hybrid V6 is more relevant to modern vehicle technology, as it is more efficient - something that modern manufacturers highly value. Bringing back the V10, especially without any hybrid assistance, would introduce a lot less efficiency, which would drive away potential manufacturers almost overnight, and without manufacturers willing to produce engines, there can be no F1. So unless you want the sport to die, get used to it

FIA should just pull the series from FOM and shut it down. Liberty and the rules makers have comletely ruined this series. Huge cars, limiting entries and horrible track selection.

How exactly do they pull the series from FOM? FOM own the commercial rights to F1 the FIA can do absolutely nothing.
The FIA are the problem here not the other way around.

Seems like a ploy (far to common) to get someone ousted). Can we get back to the sport for Peet’s sake

To be honest this matter doesn’t bother me, what bother me the Liberty media, FIA should put more emphasis on increasing the competition and put better rules, not to create drama outside the race to compensate for lack of competition.
This circus should come to end
