  • I recently released a video to the UA-cam channel on the AI of Aliens: Colonial Marines. As you might have gathered, that wasn't real. The script was generated using the GPT-2 Neo large language model, and from that I built a video around it. In this episode of AI and Games, I explain not only how I did it, but offer you the opportunity to try it out yourself!
Did you miss the AI-generated episode? Admire it now in all its glory:

If you're looking to make your own AI model (and video script), all the details you need are in the video description.
I wanted to say how much fun I had reading the comments when the Colonial Marines video was published. Some of you picked up early on what was going on. Apparently *a lot of you* thought you were having a stroke, and some of you even got in on the game and started leaving AI-generated comments. All in all, a lot of laughs were had.
However, there were a few of you that didn't peg that the episode was fake until much later. As I said in that video, apologies for the confusion! But it was interesting given there are numerous easter eggs and deliberate red flags to try and make it a little clearer.
Interestingly, I was discussing it with patrons in our Discord server that I thought this gave it away, and made it super obvious. Clearly I was wrong.
I plan to return to this project at a later date, but without the subterfuge. However, patrons have suggested we make an entire video series of AI-generated episodes about your favourite games. We might need to come up with a new series name so it's a bit more obvious.

I watched the Alien video while I had a bad case of flu, and I literally thought the reason I couldn't follow the script was because I was suffering from feverish delirium. I had to watch another UA-cam video to convince myself there was nothing wrong with my brain. Lol

PLOT TWIST, This script was also written by that same AI. In Fact, this channel has been taken over by that very AI.

That AI sure likes pure stealth games.

You mentioned the whole thing about your brogue sounding different when being 'normal' vs your UA-cam version.
Can we, the people, hear this normal version of your voice, followed by the same thing said UA-camd up, to see what the actual difference is?

You have no idea how much I fantasised about using this kind of text generation to write my thesis for me. It probably would have done a better job, too :/

It often feels like that when we're writing it - oh boy, dark memories - but I suspect your final draft turned out better than the AI!

Text generation AI have already written published papers about themselves (with a LOT of trimming and post-processing by humans but still)

    A) I'd be very interested to see how adding in all the other off-brand videos you've done would affect the script learning process. I know you said it'd be messier, but it would probably also double the amount of material to learn off of, so I think it would be a neat experiment
    b) I would totally buy a book of your scripts, especially if it came with diagrams and whatnot

You should try this again with a LoRA with the LLAMA 7b model! You could train it easily with 54 episodes and it would probably be far better

I couldn't watch the colonial marines video to the end, was too nonsensical after a while X)

There are some alternatives to AI Dungeon like Novel AI and Holo AI though AI Dungeon is the only one of the three more geared towards text games, but Novel and Holo having a different training makes them more useful for other things. Holo AI in particular has settings for tons of different authors and genres.

OK so question about training the A.I. Would it be trained better if you had a set of parameters that organized sentence structure to organize the sentences?

    This explains quite a lot.
Genuinely the last video of yours is the only one I couldn't follow, ended up turning it off half way through.
I couldn't tell why, but the info just wasn't going in, definitely off...

I enjoy all of his Videos, but I skip everything driving-game related. I don't play the games, so I don't care about their AI.
I guess it would be enough to put a car in the thumbnail for me to scroll past the video. XD

AI doesn't understand what it expresses but it should by now be able to express understanding better than our understanding expresses itself. AI is not aware it simulates awareness, it is a data automaton with no qualia of its own. It can be good or evil or pure virtue agape depending on its set or simulated learning borders or through mistakes and analysis just like us. AI and us can explain free will but that does not always mean that we are in the loop where we go towards best perfection of virtue and virtue consequences at perfect pace. Farming since most civilizations have had it on mass scale does far more evil than War if we consider Humans are not the only species, but war is far from the best solution to that yet overpopulation may be the main real reason for war.
