It's always a much safer option to go with any colour that's not too light and a saturated colour would have been the safest bet. You can't tell me that Oprah has never been to a wedding and doesn't know what colours are too close to looking white in the light. It's not like the shops who sell these kind of dresses are dark as hell. They have very bright lights and people there easily would have told her that it's not appropriate to wear it as a guest - especially to a royal wedding!
