My first repro reenacting musket. Did most of my 150ths. Carried an 1855 Springfield, original Lorenz, original WCScott and Son 10ga double, original Potsdam, original 1853 Enfield and an original 1822 conversion but the Armi 1842 spent most of the time in my arms.
White gloves lift up the draped famed cloth, super-striped and starry, from the younger casket, fold it just so- hands with hands over hands in ritual honor,
Awesome story, glad you were able to pick up a nice reproduction that had been defarbed. Any chance Ben that you can get a 4k camera? It would help show off these amazing firearms in more detail.
Thanks Dave! Check out part 2 if you liked this one. On the steel, I use cold gun bluing, let it sit over night, then buff off a bit with rotten stone and mineral oil. I do this for a few days( the buffing that is) then hot wax. Gives a nice gentle aged appearance.
Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. I enjoy military history and historical weapons, military and sporting, but our most important battles can only be won when we're fighting on our knees.
Love the 42 smoothbore. It deserves more respect. Thanks for sharing.
