It is Steve Taylor, he had a Christian music career in the 80's and 90's before he changed to a producer for groups like Six Pence None the RIcher. Love his stuff, look it up.
I remember singing this when I was eight~ I still sing it ALL THE TIME!! When I got older, I was stoked to find out it was the NEWSBOYS!! They were on JCTV and I learned a bunch about them and really liked them, then found out they sang this!! x3 I'm lip singing this and wiggling a dance in an airport to this o.o But I'm basically alone x3
This is the greatest christian song yet. Christianity IS NOT easy, falling down is often way to easy. Have faith for faith conquers for the Lord God our Father. Amen.
He was told by God to go to a town of gentiles to preach the word. But he didn't want to he was scared because they where wicked people. So he paid a passage on a boat to try to flee from God. But a storm hit while the rest was praying to their gods he was asleep they woke him up fast lost on who did this to them. He fell on him they asked what did you do to anger your God and bri g death to us. He told them fast me from the boat and the storm will stop. They said we cant cast you from the boat and kill you for your God will destroy us. He said no harm will come to you. So they cast him off. Now here is the thing when translating words they don't come out right. So when they said whale it came from a Greek word which mean sea creature because they didn't have names for the fish back then. So everything was called sea creature. So it could have been a whale, a shark, or A fish.
One thing I never noticed until I was an adult was that God actually gave Jonah two second chances. The first was when Jonah was swallowed by the whale/Leviathan after disobeying God, and God not only allowed Jonah to escape unscathed, but also used Leviathan as a way to get Jonah back to the shore of Assyria. The second was when Jonah had prophesied to Nineveh and waited outside the city to see God destroy it despite the citizens having repented, and God provided Jonah with a leafy plant to shade his head from the Middle Eastern sun, and only took it away as a way of telling Jonah to go home because he was done there.
I remember listening to this song over and over again, dancing around my living room, and trying to do the rap as a kid. :) I forgot how much fun this song was!!
this is not only a kids band... they are a hit on the radio and i luv them, but peter furler (the singer) is going solo, and was replaced by someone who used to be joined with Tobymac and the lead singer of D.C. Talk. (they all broke up). Now, two of their most popular songs are Born Again and Roaring Like A Lion (God's Not Dead)
Dude i love you so much for making this video!!! your version is WAY better than the other ones! thank you! p.s and your video is the real version of the song so thanks :)
i used to go to a camp where the 2 head leaders of the camp were christian. they had alot of newsboys music on multiple cds. "In the belly of the whale" was one of the songs on one of the cds, and i still remember what song was directly after this song on that cd: "he reigns" by the newsboys.
I remember when I bought the Jonah dvd :'D we were traveling, and I had my portable DVD player with me. We stopped at a store to get something, and the store had a kid section for kids to wait when their parents were shopping, and they had Veggietale DVDs in it. And my mom bought me the Jonah DVD. OMG I fell in love with the movie right in the beginning. I would watch it all day and night. I just now found it in my DVD shelf, but its all scratched up D= I MISS MY CHILDHOOD!
It says comet. Because the rhyme that it said they shouldn't rhyme with would be "vomit.". Since he said he'd head out after being heaved, vomiting is what you'd assume the word would be, which comet rhymes with. Plus common does not make sense in that particular sentence.
(King James Version) {Matthew 12:40} "For as Jo'-nas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
lol I have this on my iPod (yes I'm a teen but I love veggie tales; well at least the old veggie tales) anyway I NOW understand all the lyrics that I couldn't get b4 like the rap part at the end lol thanks so much :)
I couldn't stand this song when I was little, mostly because it was my sister's favorite song and she'd listen to it over and over. Now, though, I actually like it.
Man this song was part of my childhood. I'm 21 and I still like Veggietales. I love Bob and Larry!

So much nostalgia, it hurts.
This is the greatest christian song yet. Christianity IS NOT easy, falling down is often way to easy. Have faith for faith conquers for the Lord God our Father. Amen.
This song takes me back to 2003.
After listening to this song a billion times, I get why I heard Larry say, "Guys, you might not want to rhyme with that!" XD
comet-vomet
*vomit
I heard this song on the radio several years ago, and I had no idea until today that it was Christian, and from VeggieTales.
Que tengas un de w
+Friend2Fuzzies I feel like you don't need to be Christian to like this song though
@Friend2Fuzzies they are a real good Christian Rock band the first album I was introduced to was Thrive and now I have 13 newsboys albums
I heard it from an animatic and didn't know it was Christian but I still love this song regardless

I needed to find this. I had it stuck in my head for the past week.
I forgot this song existed. I love it. I miss the old Newsboys songs. Still love their new music but this is my childhood.

*sigh* good memories. God Bless us all!
Guys, you might not want to rhyme with comet.
Vomit.
Omit
This song is still rocking! It stands on its own. Lends new meaning to our church's icon of Jonah being swallowed by the whale!
How could you not get frustrated after reading that? A true man of God.
"End times, they come rolling around"
That is.... weirdly dark for a song based on a VeggieTales movie.
Dude i love you so much for making this video!!! your version is WAY better than the other ones! thank you! p.s and your video is the real version of the song so thanks :)
