❤ Packed with so much amazing information! This is me and my daughter combined. We are both perfectionist. At the moment it’s the blind leading the blind. I am currently seeking my adhd diagnosis and treatment at age 52 so that I can help my 15 yr old daughter to understand she also has ADHD. Thank you so much!

I often think there is so much overlap between the traits of adhd & cptsd. I think my perfectionism stems from constant criticism I got as a child from all angles. My father was a minister and highly narcissistic & judgmental and constant gave out pretty much purely negative feedback. My one sibling, older brother picked up on that trait and did the same to me. Then at school - because we didn’t really fit into the area we lived in socially & culturally I’d also get negative feedback for being different. And my father would attract quite a lot of negative feedback that the teachers would then attribute to me. I was highly stressed by the time I left school but really didn’t understand why and didn’t get the needed perspective on my situation to see it for what it was until I was a lot older. The habits of feeling the need to be perfect to be accepted and all the accompanying impacts of procrastination etc were well programmed in, and even though I have self awareness now it still mostly feels next to impossible to overcome whenever I am under any form of stress or pressure.

The perfectionism part of adhd is my one worst enemies.
That always leads up to imposter syndrome. Self based negatives.
"I'll cut off my own nose before anyone else can "
I think perfection or the self awareness of this is due to knowing what you are capable of.💯 but procrastination shows up, imposter syndrome..
Or as I put it the other two of you. Critical arguments with yourselves or your thoughts however you'd care to explain it.
Adhd is a blessing and a curse.
The self help positive strategies help 5% of the time.
However... when all of the above is activity convincing you otherwise is a battle of that 95% and it's not always as easy as it's explained.
I think accepting we WILL almost certainly have these days no matter what and the fighting it makes it almost impossible to waver.
Self acceptance is the most important part.
Rome wasn't built in a day.

Can someone give me the coles notes? Not able to pay attention to listen to this whole thing. Mostly interested if there is a section that discusses the interplay of the two challenges - ADHD and perfectionism. There is lots of advice on how to treat one or the other, but curious if this webinar deals with what makes it different when it is a combined issue?

Look underneath the video, maybe listen to only 10 minutes of it at a time and come back to it later.
