  • This is a live off of the floor recording of my original song "Lydia". It was recorded in one take in St. Saviour's Cathedral in Nelson, B.C.
Lydia was written based on the true story of a widowed woman living alone for decades in her home in East Vancouver. The storyline is based on information gathered by those who knew her, time spent in the house she previously lived in, and artifacts found therein.
The vision for this video was to capture the simplicity of the song and the emotion of loneliness behind the narrative. The natural light, acoustics, and ambience were the draw for recording in the Anglican Church.
The dress was chosen to accentuate a timeless experience and to mimic feigned purity, representative of christianity, virginity, piousness, saintliness, selflessness, and virtue. It is also a commentary on personal indoctrination by the catholic and christian institutions, and the choice to rebel against those institutions as an attempt to regain personal power.
This video was a collaborative effort and could not have been made possible without the generosity of St. Saviours and was a labour of love.
