Thanks for making this I want to buy this vb99 v mount and want to be able to attach directly to my tilta rig , hopefully I’ll be able to duplicate this !
Mate quick tip: Please try out the NISI Swift ND filter system with a selection of 1 to 5 stops and 5 to 9 stops including a Mist filter. I dont think you need the matt box and can get rid of it and save some additional weight. Also for your cage: Try to switch fully from SmallRig to Kondor Blue. As far as I know, you can do more with it and the weight is overall less.
You didn't do anything wrong. You're experimenting. However, the next problem looking for a solution is how do you allow for this bottom mounted rig to be mounted on a tripod without having to remove anything?
You're totally right. Mounting onto a tripod or gimbal isn't really possible with this setup, but I suppose in that production-type setting I'll go back to the typical cage, rods, and articulating arm for the v-mount.
My rig is similar to your first setup on my A7iv, and I’m sitting around 4.5kg or so with rods and articulating arm for v mount battery. While I definitely appreciate the light weight run on gun for certain scenarios, I’ve found myself liking more weight and a bigger setup as it’s just a bit easier for handheld work. Just my experience though
I would say it depends on the application, as you say. I wanted a light enough rig that I could hang around my neck and walk with for 4 hours or so, and this fits the bill
The balance isn't an issue, the issue with this setup is setting it down when it has a long lens on it, as it will rock forward and rest into the lens front.
Oh cool idea 🎉
Thank you! 🙏

Did you do it? I ended up really loving this battery and the connectivity it offers.
That looks awesome! Super compact and minimal. Would be a breeze for handheld shooting.
Keep making vids bro, u got my subscription, to see your film making journey
Thank you! I'm going to go for it!

I'm really happy with how both my matte box and cage have worked out. I plan on keeping both.

How does this effect the balance when you hold it compared to before?
