A recurring theme in this show is that a person can make a surprising amount of mistakes and still choose to change and do better. Naomi does it, Amos does it, Alex does it, Fred does it, Ashford does it, Miller does it, Holden does it, Bobbie does it, Chrisjen does it. Now, we get to see Clarissa do it. All the sympathetic characters ultimately try to change, even if they fail. All the villains never attempt to change.
If you think enough about all perspectives and different tribes, you could easily be swayed to any of them. That’s what makes this show so good. You understand all sides.
Corollary to that is when other characters acknowledge and permit that change, rather than continuing to hold judgment. Such as morally rigid Holden becoming flexible enough to allow Lucia to change, and Drummer allowing Ashford to change.
@@L1VE3V1L actually, not really. Murtry is probably the best example of a villain you wouldn't really agree with. But Mao and Inaros kinda get close to that as well. Or at least Inaro's insufferable lieutenant. (the black chick who hates Naomi)
Fun little BTS about the scene with Marco and Drummer, the two actors are good friends even prior to being on the show. Cara Gee (Drummer) was actually quite pregnant during their face off scene together. She gave Keon Alexander (Marco) a belly bump with her pregnant belly during his speech to try and throw him off as he was acting out his scene. You can almost tell right when she bumped him by the look on his face. Such funny little detail to such a serious scene.
She didn’t definitively cause it tho. The investigator was already talking to Holden because of Maneo. So he probably would have went through the ring without her blowing up ships, because it’s Holden. Then everything else would have continued as it did. It’s as much the Martians fault for causing the extreme slow down and the Earther scientist for blowing up the ship and causing the nucleus to go all big bad railgun. All Clarissa did was force Holden into the Ring sooner. Cuz no matter when he went in, no one but the people who knew him would believe that Miller was talking to him, so he would have be all rogue about whatever he was doing anyway and everything would have continued as it did lol
It's so heartbreaking watching Amos hearing Clarissa's mantra, and thinking that he's a monster. The whole point of this season is that Amos ISN'T a monster, he just thinks he is. But real monsters don't think they are, or if they do, they don't care, they have no remorse. Amos does have remorse. He's not a sociopath. He has C-PTSD, and in order to survive, he had to cauterize his feelings to a degree. But they're starting to regrow. He questions himself and his cold logic, because he's a sensitive, empathetic person under all those layers of trauma. It's just that trauma can't ever be fully shed. He thinks he can't help himself, but he can help others. But the thing is, by helping others, he is saving himself too.
@@putinscat1208 Well, he _was_ in a life-or-death situation. He announced himself, the other guy chose to take advantage of him and _was_ about to kill Amos. So yeah, that's that. Shouldn't have gone down like that but it did. And since dead men don't need their stuff anymore, it's only right that the people who _currently_ need it use it.
The thing is... He dosen't have remorses. He stated it quite enough for us to aknowledge that he is, perhaps because of trauma, perhaps not, a sociopath. This is why he stated that he needs to go back to his crew, since it is his moral compass, and Clarissa's opinion made him realise that he just participated in a random murder just for ressources. Amos has the clarity to know when he does bad things, and surround himself with the roci crew to keep him from doing bad things. As he said, you can be a bad person, and still do good things. Amos isn't a "good" person, even tho' he ends up being a hero quite often, but he does so because he knew how to surround himself with good persons, who can lead him and tell him what to do. But the biggest point here lies in the discussion with Clarissa before they looted the dead guy in the wood. On the fact that Jules Pierre Mao liked trees. Amos, or Clarissa, aren't monsters. They are murderers, sure... But they are monsters. Jules Pierre Mao, who can feel fear, who is probably far more empathetic than Amos, did horrible things in pursuit of science and misguided ambitions. Marco can feel fear, and emotions, and killed a world. These are monsters. They are people with far too much power, and blinded by their perceived righteousness. Amos, and the "now" Clarissa, don't see themsevles as righteous, and thus, ponders a lot on their bad decisions, pushing them to try to change their ways into doing good, while JPM and Marco doubles down on being monsters, to the point of volountarily devoiding themselves of the empathy they had.
The fact you picked up on the Amos no-fear thing is why you are hands down my favourite Expanse reactor! But I fear I dibs too hard and now have to wait for the next reaction! Much love from Australia! From a long-time subscriber now patron :)
Love your reactions as usual. And if Ty Franck is watching this show, you need to be ready for the possibility that Wes Chatham is as well, because those two geek out regularly and talk all the time for their podcasts and appearances. It's like watching two of my fraternity brothers relive glory days, just... sci fi. So... pretty sure Wes has watched your reactions. 💪
It's hard to find reaction channels to this show that are lucid and entertaining at the same time! Yours is excellent! Favorite character....Drummer hands down! Named my 2 yr old Akita after her. Keep it up we're watching.
The line, "I need to get back to my crew." is right up there with, "I am that guy." as Amos' best lines in the entire series. Amos realizes that he doesn't really have much of a morale code. Therefore he finds someone who does; first Naomi, then Holden. He was broken as a child and it's how he works his way through life. And, Girl! You are entirely too cute, smart, and funny to be this thirsty. :)
I always thought the nickname “peaches” was from Clarissa giving herself the name Melba. There was/is a dessert called Peach Melba and so it wasn’t a giant leap to Peaches.
Amos off the leash is fun. Love his words on the small tribes when churn hits, and how he handles the gunman and the campsite guy. All practical. Almost colder than the environment they're in... And Clarissa, the escaped convict is the voice of compassion and reason lol. Kinda glad Konecheck is dead, can you imagine that dude running loose around the woods all psychobear killing folks?
I always interpreted the campfire scene as deliberately ambiguous. We will never know if the stranger would have attempted to harm Amos or Clarissa or not - he just asked not to get jumped. Amos’s hypervigilant responses, the instinct to assume violence so he’d be ready for violence, was center stage there, and it permeates the scene.
@@RocketToTheMoose Could be, but we'll never get the answer. It's like the Schrödinger parent. Until we get to know; actually know, what this guy does... He can both be a wandering survivor, or a ruthless murderer. And since Amos went his way, we'll never know. Perhaps he did poison that man, perhaps the man died of exhaustion, perhaps was he killed by another stranger we didn't cross path with. Perhaps that guy is actually benevolent and would have led them to a camp or something. Who knows. The thing is, we'll never know. While, on the other hand, the dude shooting people is a known variable for Amos. He knows what to expect; mostly, and where he stands.
Contrary to what movies make you believe that is not how humans behave. Even in survival situations Amos theory actually falls on its face how quickly humans will enforce even stronger group actions within their societies precisely not to have everything fall apart. The most horrendous actions and crimes were possible by humans shedding their individuality in the face of existential threats in favor of group safety. That is how the majority of mankind works.
This episode is great! I love the "monster" scene, where Amos is worried about how he might be a monster, but definitely concerned that he's lost his "moral guide" with his crew... He _wants_ to be a better person, but knows that he's been damaged by his upbringing "The world sucks and makes you do bad things". He grabs onto characters that have a good moral compass (Naiomi, Holdden, Anna) and he's realised that Peaches has learnt from her mistakes and is now someone to follow/protect (note the same line he used with Anna "I wont let anything hurt you")... Upcoming episodes with Peaches & Amos are .
We saw Alex spacewalk outside the ship back in season 1, when his suit was losing air and Shed (RIP) had to connect them for buddy breathing. I think you had the Lydia example reversed. Amos said that it's possible to live a good life without being a good person.
I think it's interesting that, as far as I can remember, Amos never makes a pass at Peaches. He mentions he wouldn't mind having sex with Naomi or Chrisjen but never even mentions it in passing to anyone else either that he'd 'do' Peaches.
22:55 I try to never be "thirsty on main" but I mean you're honest about Amos soo... This was the moment I fell in love with Bobbie Draper, the martian-queen space-marine muscle-mommy that none of us could ever be worthy of. A GODDESS lmao 😅😂❤
Amos in this episode makes me flash all the way back to season 1, when they thought they were about to be boarded by Martians & Amos was ready to shoot first & ask questions later (and completely unconcerned about Holden's threat to shoot _him_ first). It's what he was talking about with the "tribes"...there, on Earth, he & Clarissa are a two person tribe. At that point in season 1, he and Naomi were also a two person tribe. In both cases his first instinct was to do whatever needed doing to protect the other member of the tribe, but in this case there wasn't a Holden around to try to talk him out of it....and he realizes that he very much needs that person around.
This is one of the first times we see where not only is Amos without guidance, but due to Peaches' mod she actually enables more violence in a way we kinda haven't seen in him before. Not sure but IMO the first time he seemed "surprised" by a murder was catching the look on his face when Peaches shoots the guy... I think this is the moment he recognized that he's with someone "like him" in that moment, and he's always tried to find a moral anchor like Naomi or Holden, and he's without it and adrift. I also recognize that Peaches is making huge strides here overall for empathy/not murdering lol and etc, just in the moment, he "sees" himself in her I think
The fact that Amos thinks about what Holden would do and realizes that he wouldn't approve is actually huge character growth. Amos wants to do things that Holden WOULD approve of. He's shaken by the realization that he strayed so far from Holden's ideals. Which means they're Amos's ideals. Season one Amos could never.
@25:05 no Zander! No! Don’t defend Marco like that! @33:05 the script originally called for this to be a nude scene. But that would of given too many viewers a heart attack…you included judging by your reaction😂
I realize I'm commenting a year late, but I just wanted to say that the Drummer scenes in the novel are some of my favorites. The entire crew is married to each other, and she takes comfort in her different husbands and wives in different ways and it is genuinely warming.
Sakai's attitude toward Earthers, even "good" Earthers, is something to remember. They showed it earlier when the Belter faction almost took over the missiles Johnson was holding. Something to remember. It's significant to note the different opinions of members of Camina's family. They are consistent in their individual opinions. Filip knows nothing about the events on the Behemoth, even though it was reported systemwide by Monica. The information was available on his hand terminal, but he'd never bothered to access it. Why should he? Marco told him everything he needed to know...right? Peaches is afraid of being a monster...that's her fear. Amos doesn't consciously realize that is actually his fear, too, so he's not a monster, either.
Loved the double bird "suck on it!" to Bull, i spit out some wine at that part from laughing. Keep 'em coming! Best sci-fi series in television and that is saying something with the geek stuff I've been into over the years.
When Chrisjen puts on her jewelry, she is putting on her armor for war. Shoreh is so good in that scene. I am so glad nobody spoiled the Iron Man moment when the door opens.
"The Hawk doesn't have any weapons." It does have a Bobby flippin Draper in MCRN power armor, and gods help whoever is on the apposing side of that. Book Bobby FTW.
All of the big memorable moments and cliffhangers that have marked the end of various episodes but this quiet ending is still one of my favorites of the series.
Amos is the best. The phrase "Holden would have never approved and that he needs to get back to his crew" was the final piece to erase the last sentiment that Amos has empathy. He does not but the fact that he knows and acknowledges that and tries to do everything to act differently makes him so compelling and his struggle worth while. Not giving up and the restrain in not listening to himself is so much more difficult. He mimics empathy because of how he grew up and believes to be true, but thats it. He helps other people based on what he knows to be true and because he wants to do right. Thats why he was the only one who could close the breach to Clarissa after what she did. Because he did not feel the gravity, just knew of it. He could relate to her on the basis of doing bad stuff and saw that he could help her. Holden is the perfect guide for Amos.
A behind the scenes tidbit. Cara Gee and Keon Alexander are long time friends. Also, during the taping of season 5 Cara Gee was pregnant and they managed to shot around her baby bump. In the aftershow podcast for this episode Keon had said that in the take that had been used of Drummer's and Marco's first meeting where the two were squaring off he had had a moment of being flustered because Cara's baby bump had hit him when she stepped up close to him, and it shows up as if Marco's is a little off put by Drummer's standing up to him. Cara then said that she had done that on purpose. Keon had gotten incensed, saying "You know how much your baby means to me!" Cara gave that great big smile of hers and replied "I know, that's why I did it."
As I implied in S4 Amos: "civilization keeps people civil" Murtry: "civilization has a lag time". Both understand human nature relative to the world around them.
Congrats on the 40K subscribers!! 🎉 I’ve been a subscriber since your first Expanse episode & am really looking forward to the rest of the journey! ❤ Oh & great chapter name in this one…. “Eyelashes & Eye Shadow”😂 My weird little brain reads that in its monster truck / Pro Wrestling voice… “And now, Tonight’s main event! - It’s Eyelashes VS Eye Shadow!!!” -Brought to you by Donkey Balls. 😂 ok it’s time for bed….
Been looking forward to this one. Contains one of the most important Amos moments, for me. No, not the lack of clothing - The other thing: When he realises how tribal he is getting, the longer he is from his Roci-Fam. He acknowledges both how better he is as a person with them & the fact that they have that effect on him. Wait... There are people that like Bull?!?!?
Even today Earth provides the bulk of food-stuffs needed by the Belt, particularly after the apocalyptic destruction of the domes on Ganymede, so anybody that pays attention would realize that "times are going to be lean" for more than a decade, though not for Marco Inaros.
The way they portrayed Clarissa's mod in this episode is probably one of my favourite scenes in the show, and that's saying something. Like you said, the slow motion of Amos realizing he's probably going to die, the safety coming off, the absolutely frantic beast mode of Clarissa, and it all being over so fast. What a fantastic way to bring the concept of her mod to the screen.
I do like Amos and Clarissa together. She makes him a better person/character & they identify with one another. I’ve always think of them as “Peaches and Cream”. They go well together. 😁 Maybe they are each other’s “purpose“. I would definitely send Chrisjen a 🤗, she’s absolutely wonderful! I like that your Dad watches. 👍 You continue to give the best intros>reactions>outros in the biz! Top notch. ps Buttigieg 👍
1) Amos thirst is just a natural reaction. Don't fight it. 2) I love the actor who plays Marco, exactly because he does such a great job of capturing what makes that kind of person so fucking scummy. And I love Naomi's line in this about how Marco would let his son die for him, but that he wouldn't die for Philip. What a piece of shit (Marco, not Naomi).
Amos definitely planned to rob the guy, but I don't think the plan was to kill him even though he was prepared to do it if he had to. As far as Monica's looks at Holden goes, I think that's just her default mode. Seducing people was both her and that creepy tech dude she was with's go to move to get information out of people. I think that's why she gets so infuriated with Holden because he is able to stonewall her and just walk away from her. I think it's very telling that Marco sent the woman that made it clear she would be willing to space Naomi off the ship with Drummer. He didn't want Naomi spaced. It was just a way to manipulate his son and put him in his place. And as far as dirt bags go, Anderson Dawes is most definitely a dirt bag, and probably irredeemably so, but at least he doesn't pretend he's not a dirt bag.
Keon Alexander does a great job at making Marco Inaros an utterly despicable character. The interaction between Amos and Clarissa is one of my favorite of the series. Bull in the books wasn't as two dimensional as he's portrayed in the show. Drummer is basically Bull plus ++ from the books, and I wouldn't have it any other way, she became one of my top 3 favorite characters... Bo-heee-muth. ; )
No spoilers, but for season six there is bonus content that is only available if you watch via Prime in a browser. This is content you would not want to skip, it's an extra scene in each episode except for the last one. Just want to give you a heads up, not sure if you're that far along in your episodes...
When I first started watching the show Amos was my Miller. I liked the character writing but for a good number of episodes I did not trust Amos because it was pretty obvious what he was. But before too long i found myself saying "I love Amos." Followed by. "I still can't believe I'm saying that." I always loved Miller though, had more to do with my love for Tom Jane.
Great reaction - and nice hair, by the way! Kudos on catching the monsters aren’t afraid thing hitting Amos so hard; many reactors don’t catch it. By the way, don’t think Monica’s looking at Holden is flirty, just intense and driven. Even when she was being overtly flirtatious, it was also her being, er, goal-oriented, trying to get her story by any means necessary. She’s still doing that, so it looks the same, but she’s not trying to come on to him this time. She’s got the scent, and she’s tracking. As for Bobbie having a suit: She bought it off the black market, remember? It’d be a shame for it to just collect dust, even if it’s evidence of Martian corruption, y’know 🙃 You’re right about Marco telling Filip to not shoot from the hip is good advice - we’ll see if he takes it to heart… Also, was waiting for you reaction to Amos doing his turn on the catwalk; you did okay at not going full Looney Toons hooting and whistling. But I did expect you to have a good sip of wine, and you did 😜
So, here's a fun behind-the-scenes story. When season 5 was filming Cara Gee was preg-I'm kidding. I really do have to get to bed now but here's a quick tidbit. You know how the preference is to find somewhere with snow to shoot but the temperature isn't bad? We didn't do that. Because: Canada. A cold snap rolled in on the days we were shooting the Maryland exteriors. And lemme tellya, it was foooooking cold. Crew would duck into the warmup shelters during the night, after hauling around their gear in snow sleds. So, if you listen to Clarissa and Amos talk, you can hear how numb their lips and faces are. Nadine and Wes were champions out there in the cold Ontario winter night, though. ...and then came the strip-down scene. I had never felt sorry for Wes until that night. Holy jumping Jehoshaphat! To be bareskinned in that weather? Yikes! Helluvan adventure, though! And it paid off because those scenes looked great. Kicker is, those weren't the coldest nights we shot outdoors. But that story is for another day.
Bull is a very different character in the books, I really prefer that guy over this one. But I think that's why some people like him, if they've read them. The biggest problem with Marco is that he's not entirely wrong. The Belters have been mistreated for so long. Everything about what he's doing is terrible, but because of how they've been treated and of course, how charasmatic he is, people will agree with him. Suuuuuuuuuuuucks. Clarissa's mantra that she found in jail, "I have killed, but I am not a killer. Because a killer is a monster and monsters aren't afraid". Bit of a gut punch at the end there, right? As bad as it is, I quite like that he realises he needs his crew back.
The thing with the mod. Until now, we've always seen it from Clarissa's perspective (normal speed). Here, they've shown it from the point of view of Amos (very effing fast).
One of the greatest strengths of the series in it's writing, I think, is that it's got the great confidence to have vulnerability baked into badass characters. Chrissy may be one of the most determined, willful, and frankly powerful people on earth- but she's also got a bedrock base on her relationship with her Arjun, old or new one. (I like both.) Amos is a beast, and operating on instinct and intuition at a very primal level, but he's not mindless or stupid. He understands morals and emotions, and in a lot of ways, he can be quite sharp about it in ways that others aren't. And the show isn't afraid to show him having that- doubts, reactions timed too late to come off as totally natural (tea would be nice) and so on. Camina is a force of nature and it would be a fun ride to see her go terminator and just take Marco apart- but showing how much she doubts herself, the way she's felt about the cause, and the hole left by her most surprising friend Ashford... It's a fascinating level of understanding to be able to peel away layers and layers and still find a character that's true to what it is. Holden remains someone who would be absolutely insufferable if he stayed as self righteous and impulsive as he started, or at least I've felt as much. But his understanding of the bigger picture, adding empathy and a lot of experience have refined him to someone who can think above his knee jerk reactions about 'what is right'. (Which started a war, or near abouts.) One of my favourite things about this part in the series is seeing how people deal with things in parallels, over time. You yourself noted that Alex's reaction is kinda raw and a lot less accepting than Bobby's, but I like to examine it against reactions from Camina, Ashford, and to a lesser extent Fred. They've all had causes and large scale goals they truly believed in, fought for- and in a few cases, died for. But watching the reaction to finding their ideals unable to match the reality of what they see is again something I enjoy. Seeing how pragmatism can temper or change it, or the other way- seeing how idealism can sharpen them. Truly it's wild, and experiencing it with your reactions and the others here is a lot of fun.
53:45 Yes, you are amazing Angela, next week I celebrate one year of being a subscriber to your channel, so I have no regrets at all and ready for the next chapter :)
I always love your reactions: honest and with a clearly stated perception of character growth! I'm *so utterly tempted* to blurt out "Amos spoilers" but 🤐 of course 😉. Best regards Raoul G. Kunz
I feel you on Bull, and I feel the same way. I tend to bump heads with people like that. What's weird is that people like him initially gravitate towards me for some reason. It's one of the most annoying things because I can usually tell from jump that I don't like people like that but it's in my nature to be nice until a person gives me a definite reason not to. And I've been dealing with this since childhood. Eventually... Inevitably they make some wildly ignorant or unnecessarily abrasive comment that I feel obligated to respond to, and that usually sets the universe right 😏
Xander, great job! I never got the sense that Monica wanted Holden in any sexual way. She's clinging to Holden because he's a major story. Following her nose. Loved the way Peaches took out the guy.
Minor book spoilers about Lydia (not shown in show and wont spoil the rest of the series) - - 0 - - - deeper - _ In the book Lydia is sexually abusing him/loves him and there is a subtext behind why Amos likes older women like Avarasala, the relationship is pretty dark in the books. Amos's childhood is super fucked up.
Oh my Lil Screaming Firehawk! Such a great reaction to a great episode! When I watched most reactors to The Expanse I catch myself watching the show. Not with you! I'm fixated on your reaction completely! When Amos and Peaches were talking at the end I could see the wheels turning and then you said " Amos doesn't feel fear" I said outloud " Good girl!" Remember Amos told Alex a while back that he perceives three types of people in this world, ones you follow, ones you protect and bad ones. Which is Amos in this moment? Like you said " He's our monster!" Shohreh Aghdashloo does such a damn good job portraying our Queen! Those vulnerable moments are so damn good and heartbreaking! Dominique Tipper is absolutely killing it this season as Naomi! Looking forward to the next one!
"We were already at war. You just couldn't see it because they were killing us slow." That line solidified Marco for me. I already sympathized with his idea of standing against the opressors, but that line hurt. He's a self centered asshole, but when it comes to standing up for the belt, he's got good points
I'm surprised you assume Crisjen's daughter "hasn't tried to contact Arjun" If she can't reach him, it's very possible her daughter can't either. A lot of infrastructure is out of commission, the debris in the atmosphere is probably making a lot of communications difficult. If her daughter had tried unsuccessfully to reach him, Crisjen wouldn't need to bring up that she failed. She would only have reason to say something, if for example the daughter had said "I heard from him, he's safe" and possibly where he is. Because that would be relevant to "Have you heard from him?" Before Crisjen was Secretary General, she was Deputy Secretary General. Now she's been asked to join the provisional cabinet of the acting Secretary General.
Amos and Clarissa are in what philosophers call, "a state of nature." In a state of nature, where there is an absence of law -- and no shared moral codes or social norms -- then each individual is in a state of war against all others. In a state of nature, each individual has every right to do whatever is needed to survive -- so (for instance) the doe, the fawn and the mountain lioness all have exactly the same rights and liberties. However, the lioness won't hesitate to kill both the doe *and* her fawn -- and, in fact, should do so to make sure her own kittens survive. So, as hard and unforgiving as it is, Amos had the "right" to kill that guy and take his stuff. Fortunately, the guy was a survivalist gun-nut misanthrope (as are most survivalists), which made it easy to cheer for Amos and Clarissa, but it didn't change the nature of Amos' choice.
This is two months old so I don't know that you'll see this, but fun fact: When this episode aired Wes Chatham's wife tweeted a screencap of Amos stripping with the caption "You're welcome".
Angela, I'm going to pick at a nit. You missed quoted Amos. He said, "You can be a not good person, and still live a good life." So Lydia wasn't a good person, but they lived a good life nonetheless.
Well put. This is IMO the real "genius" of the show is the secret message of "forgiveness matters" in all the insanely violent beautiful drama:)

30:50 I love how the look on marco's face just very slightly betrays his confusion at how the hell Drummer knew what Ashford's last words were
YES! I noticed and internally smiled with glee!!!
To be fair, Peaches saved all of humanity by shutting down the Behemoth. A lotta people forget that.
But also caused the situation where those actions were needed. She was cleaning her own mess.
She didn’t definitively cause it tho. The investigator was already talking to Holden because of Maneo.
Amos, and the "now" Clarissa, don't see themsevles as righteous, and thus, ponders a lot on their bad decisions, pushing them to try to change their ways into doing good, while JPM and Marco doubles down on being monsters, to the point of volountarily devoiding themselves of the empathy they had.
lol "My Dad watches this" I love these reactions
The fact you picked up on the Amos no-fear thing is why you are hands down my favourite Expanse reactor! But I fear I dibs too hard and now have to wait for the next reaction! Much love from Australia! From a long-time subscriber now patron :)
Thanks Dylan!!! I feel like I know Amos better than I know myself sometimes. I’m so connected to him.I love it.
I read your last sentence as "From a long-time subscriber now potato" and I thought, hmm, I wonder what that means?
Love your reactions as usual. And if Ty Franck is watching this show, you need to be ready for the possibility that Wes Chatham is as well, because those two geek out regularly and talk all the time for their podcasts and appearances. It's like watching two of my fraternity brothers relive glory days, just... sci fi. So... pretty sure Wes has watched your reactions. 💪
I would absolutely love it if Angela could get Wes in for an interview haha. There's not enough rosé in the world to keep her calm enough for that 😂
@Mr. Shark Tooth Wes? And Angela??? Get ready for maximum thirst!!!!
No wine drinker I’d ever an alcoholic. You’re fine Angela.
"Put her by the fire." Look at you caring for Peachpits.
Those jewels are like Chrisjen's armor such a heart breaking acting, Shohreh Aghdashloo did a great job
That's it.
That is right.
Ah cool..always wondered. 👍
Peaches, raspberries, and vanilla ice cream if you’re wondering.
27:08 there is a great gag reel version of this scene where a loud squawking bird interrupts filming and Wes refers to it as "schrodinger's parrot"
It is so funny watching you fangirl over Amos. I totally get it, though, he's my favorite character in the show by a wide margin.
My take was that he was poisoning people and then waiting for them to die to take their stuff....like the jacket guy.
"Eyelashes and Eye shadow" is the absolute best description of Marco and Drummer!
"Bobbie should just shoot them as the door opens" --- good call.
@36:43
Angela : "Bohemoth or Behemoth? (**chuckles**) Gotta pick at a scab...."
Hey, as long as it's not the Noockoolas, ....
.....it's a all good.
Amos trying to figure out if his decisions would get the Holden seal of approval is fun.
15:40 so they can dock together....so they can *dock together* 😂😂😂 that was a fantastic play on words! Thank you.
One of the best lines of the series…”I gotta get back to my crew.
The ship is a tower. It's not upside down, it's on it's side ;) *snoooooooortttt
Kind of like the scene of Sylvester Stallone in Rocky strapping on his bandana. It's almost a cliche.
@O. B. LOL. Okay, not Rocky, but Rambo.
I love that you've finally (kinda) came around to Monica. I always thought she was a hilarious character.
I originally disliked her character, but over time, grew to like her.
"The Hawk doesn't have any weapons." It does have a Bobby flippin Draper in MCRN power armor, and gods help whoever is on the apposing side of that. Book Bobby FTW.
🤣 Eyelashes and eye shadow having a conversation 🤣
I love that Michio Pa has a space invader tattooed above her eye.
Regarding Bobbie’s suit-in E3 as they’re preparing to leave Mars, Bobbie says she’s “going to grab a few things just in case”.
Jules-Pierre Mao liking trees, reminds me of how Julie Mao always went to that one tree on their family compound when she wanted to get away.
“I can appreciate beauty when it’s in front of me.” Yeah (watching you give your post episode thoughts and insights), I can too. For sure! 😉👍
Love your shirt, pictures and the model!
Good on you for picking up on the Amos not feeling fear point, most people miss that.
Another great episode and another classic Xander edit. Hard to beat that combination. Thanks guys!
As I implied in S4
Amos: "civilization keeps people civil"
Murtry: "civilization has a lag time".
Both understand human nature relative to the world around them.
Congrats on the 40K subscribers!! 🎉
I’ve been a subscriber since your first Expanse episode & am really looking forward to the rest of the journey! ❤
Oh & great chapter name in this one…. “Eyelashes & Eye Shadow”😂
My weird little brain reads that in its monster truck / Pro Wrestling voice… “And now, Tonight’s main event! - It’s Eyelashes VS Eye Shadow!!!”
-Brought to you by Donkey Balls.
You indeed do not disappoint. That lip smack as Amos finished disrobing was priceless. Great reaction overall.
Even today Earth provides the bulk of food-stuffs needed by the Belt, particularly after the apocalyptic destruction of the domes on Ganymede, so anybody that pays attention would realize that "times are going to be lean" for more than a decade, though not for Marco Inaros.
19:46 yours is sideways down is where the engine is.
It's odd, i didn't care for it the first time i saw it. But i like it now
That was some 28 days later type shit
Definitely expected an Amos thumbnail. I actually expected more thirst too.
Oh well, at least you enjoyed it.
I did too. 😅
you thirst for thirst
When it comes to Amos, thinking a naked Amos is not a threat is a stupid idea.
"You'll think I an alcoholic..." this show would drive anyone to drink!! 😃
You continue to give the best intros>reactions>outros in the biz! Top notch.
ps Buttigieg 👍
"I still can't believe I'm saying that."
I always loved Miller though, had more to do with my love for Tom Jane.
It’d be a shame for it to just collect dust, even if it’s evidence of Martian corruption, y’know 🙃
You’re right about Marco telling Filip to not shoot from the hip is good advice - we’ll see if he takes it to heart…
Also, was waiting for you reaction to Amos doing his turn on the catwalk; you did okay at not going full Looney Toons hooting and whistling. But I did expect you to have a good sip of wine, and you did 😜
Oh, and you say don’t like nicknames, but I think you too have used “murdersnuggles” for your man there, sooo
Nicknames almost gets Amos killed xD
Oh, gawd. Oh, boy. Oh, dear. I'm not prepared for how unprepared you are. I should prolly go to sleep. Early day tomorr-
Ah, pashang dis! Let's go!
I think you need more to drink than just wine, because *damn* you're thirsty! 😆
(I like both.)
Amos is a beast, and operating on instinct and intuition at a very primal level, but he's not mindless or stupid.
(Which started a war, or near abouts.)
One of my favourite things about this part in the series is seeing how people deal with things in parallels, over time.
Congrats on 40K!
You ARE awesome!
Peaches went all Wolverine on that guy. Kink unlocked. 😳
I prefer this Mod beating than the others FOR SURE
and Thanks!
53:45 Yes, you are amazing Angela, next week I celebrate one year of being a subscriber to your channel, so I have no regrets at all and ready for the next chapter :)
Fabulous episode. Fabulous episode.
Remember Amos when someone pointed a gun at Naomi? Someone pointed a gun at Amos? He’s her Naomi.
As a tribe of two, they have to become one another's Naomis. Why she recited her poem/mantra for him to hear.
I always love your reactions: honest and with a clearly stated perception of character growth!
I'm *so utterly tempted* to blurt out "Amos spoilers" but 🤐 of course 😉.
Best regards
Raoul G. Kunz
I love Bobby greeting that Free Navy strike team with 20 rounds, point blank in the face.
Yes Amos is our monster. He's our Murder Snuggles.
4EVA
I feel you on Bull, and I feel the same way. I tend to bump heads with people like that. What's weird is that people like him initially gravitate towards me for some reason. It's one of the most annoying things because I can usually tell from jump that I don't like people like that but it's in my nature to be nice until a person gives me a definite reason not to. And I've been dealing with this since childhood.
Eventually... Inevitably they make some wildly ignorant or unnecessarily abrasive comment that I feel obligated to respond to, and that usually sets the universe right 😏
You know, you could sauté shrimp with that rosé.
Xander, great job! I never got the sense that Monica wanted Holden in any sexual way. She's clinging to Holden because he's a major story. Following her nose. Loved the way Peaches took out the guy.
Having said all that, I definitely want him in my tribe in that situation.
Amos uses nicknames like an Australian :)
Minor book spoilers about Lydia (not shown in show and wont spoil the rest of the series)

In the book Lydia is sexually abusing him/loves him and there is a subtext behind why Amos likes older women like Avarasala, the relationship is pretty dark in the books.
Like you said " He's our monster!"
Shohreh Aghdashloo does such a damn good job portraying our Queen!
Refusing to throw out perfectly drinkable alcohol automatically qualifies you to be an honorary Scandinavian.
Because that would be relevant to "Have you heard from him?"
Before Crisjen was Secretary General, she was Deputy Secretary General. Now she's been asked to join the provisional cabinet of the acting Secretary General.
Shohreh Aghdashloo is a top tier Actress, her role in The Expanse is Triple Grade A.
Amos and Clarissa are in what philosophers call, "a state of nature."
In a state of nature, where there is an absence of law -- and no shared moral codes or social norms -- then each individual is in a state of war against all others.
Thanks!
THANK YOU!!!
There's only one thing in the universe Amos is afraid of...
We all know why you want to be in a tribe (of two) with Amos and we all understand.
The Expanse Movie IV: The Search For Frankie Adams' Bicep.
I don't know if you do games, but Telltale is coming out with an Expanse prequel game based around Drummer and voiced by Cara Gee.
Tyco station may have a holographic sign.
Phillip saved Naomi's life because if she had tried to kill Marco she would have been killed.
This is two months old so I don't know that you'll see this, but fun fact: When this episode aired Wes Chatham's wife tweeted a screencap of Amos stripping with the caption "You're welcome".
She knows 😏 lucky lady
Angela, I'm going to pick at a nit. You missed quoted Amos. He said, "You can be a not good person, and still live a good life." So Lydia wasn't a good person, but they lived a good life nonetheless.
