Hi Tia!! Incredible work so far. I know you had mentioned your doors need some TLC, just wanted to offer you a tip if you’re wanting to restore the hardware and hinges to their original patina. Buy a crockpot from the thrift store specifically for this project. Fill it up with half water, half white vinegar and a drop of dish soap (optional). Put the hardware in and let it boil for 4-5 hours. After that, the paint should come right off. I would always follow up with a nylon brush and bar keepers friend to get the old paint out of the cracks and crevices. Your old hardware will shine and the patina will look beautiful. I did this in a house from 1930 and there was layers of paint on the old hardware and hinges. They don’t look like they were ever painted. Just a tip! 🙂
Looking forward to next week! ❤

Love how this is turning out. It may be because of the lighting or how you present it, but I think think your bedroom trim stands out a bit more! When I was working do odd jobs during summer there was a older lady that had a house built in the 1890s. Some of it had been renovated but the window right behind her bed let cold drafts in during the winter. She got on the bed and held up the trim around the opening and a put caulking around it. We had to do the same for the back door. She said it made a huge difference!

Your dad and you work so great together. The house is looking good. The floors are beautiful. I love the character and charm that you kept throughout the house. The art studio wall cupboard, the square floor patch in the “T” and now, the rusty staple holes in the art studio. I love that you have honored the age of your home. Thanks for sharing it with me, with all the world! 😊

Wow! Tia, you’ve managed to completely capture the unique character of this house. The “flaws” in the floors truly add to that character. At first I thought the square in the living room would bother me a lot if it was my floor, but now I see why you didn’t want to change it. It’s part of the history of this house and you made the right call to keep it. Same in the art studio with the stains from the staples. You brought out the unique and imperfect beauty of these floors. ❤❤❤

I have been watching since the beginning and if you got this home for $1 and only put $30k or $40k into materials (and lots and lots of your own time as well as your dad’s time) I would think you have built some serious equity into this home. It’s looking really good! Give your Dad a big hug for his help.

The transformation is incredible. I think that it is awesome that you are able to personalize every part of the house to make it what you want it to be. I love the fact that you and you dad are doing this together. I would be honored to help my daughter work on a project such as this (I have helped all 3 of my kids work on their houses over the past few years, but no projects like this). I can't wait to see what you do next week.

That random square is probably where a floor furnish was. I have a place like that in my living room floor but it is covered with carpet now.

You are such an amazing young lady! I was watching another video and the young girl on there said…..oh I can’t do that…I am a girl!!! I hate girls/women saying they can’t do something because they are female!
You get in there and get it done! And you do it beautifully!!
    Your house is beautiful!

Really love your style. I started buying and renovating old houses in the 70’s that I lived in. I upgraded price slightly every time I sold and moved. I had a full time job too. Mortgages then were any where from 8-12 %. I finally was able to own a home with no mortgage. Back then wallpaper was trendy. I have very limited use of my right arm due to polio. I always called myself the one armed paper hanger😂

I feel like you need a before, DURING, and after because the middle where there's no drywall or flooring (like in the bathroom) are part of what makes the transformation so impressive!

For the door threshold, it’s common in New England to use a piece of white marble. They sell them in the home centers or tile shops.
