Great re-review Dean. These predator figures definitely deserved the treatment. Might go back and re-review some of my earlier figures on the channel, those videos are just unwatchable haha
I got the battle damaged hot toys city hunter predator figure and I love Predator 2 soo much that he is permanently tattooed onto my left leg. No other predator even comes close to it!
Like you, I absolutely love the movie and this is the one and only Hot Toys Predator figure that I own. As much as I love the original Predator design, I think I like this version a bit more, so I'm more than happy only having this one. This figure still looks great after all these years, although I do wish the unmasked head sculpt was closer to his look in the movie. It's just off somehow and it's too bad they haven't revisited the character with a re-tweaked head. Still, I love it and it looks amazing on the shelf! ^_^
That Bio Masks always reminds me of Sam from Trick R Treat. Little pumpkin-headed kid. One of those things where I can’t get it out of my head once I made the connection.
I had horrible memories when i was a young lad from when i went to see Predator 2 in the cinema, picture it, a nearly empty cinema, ten mins into the movie, a man comes sits next to me when he could of sat any where else, five mins later he reaches over to grab my... hot dogs will never be the same, predator on screen, predator next to me! great review dean :))))
City Hunter is my favourite Predator. Love his design. City Hunter himself has so much character and personality. I would love to have this figure but he's so expensive to get now.
I'm convinced, this is a figure I need and I'll get it. I need to sell a figure or two... but it's a good reason to clean up the collection, great review
I have a couple small scale hot toys like Robo and T1 t800 but find that I like my 1/4 scale Neca City hunter more than these smallers pieces. The detail better sure and some characters Neca doesn't have but just price and size and good enough detail does it for me. I have Jungle Hunter and big red as well. Good review :).
@Novocrine yep, this review is version 2.0 Hot Toys did release quite a few version 1 predators years ago. Really old releases where you had to partially put them together yourself. You had to put their net suit on, their armour. They did 1.0 of the 3 AVP Preds, Wolf, Elder Pred from Pred 2, City Hunter. They looked good at the time but hilariously outdated now. Compare them side by side with their 2.0 counterparts (Wolf especially is funny) There's various reviews on UA-cam of the old versions. Some of the 2.0 version reviews have comparisons in them of the originals. Xenomorph, I think it is, his 2.0 Wolf review has a side by side with the original Wolf figure. Hot Toys did some really old Alien figures that were kinda like model kits. You had to put the arms and legs on the body yourself.
Is this the definitive review with all the BR extras?😉 Love this 2.0. Got via a seller in the Netherlands (at a really great price) about 5-6 years ago and I still re-pose him. Any ways, killer review, mate.
Is this Dean's first official remake review, or it is a re-imagining, or a reboot? Whaaaaaaaat?! Forget 'bout it! Love the film and the Predator design, and much like you, it is a film very close to my heart. This is a goddamn fabulous video, Dean! - oh and- *ahem* Want some candy? ;)
Great review dean, really in the mood to watch predator 2 again now. Just a thought on the gripping hand, you not use a low settinh heat gun to tighten the grip ?
This figure has come in for a lot of stick, yet I can think of many other Hot Toys figures that truly deserve to be cast in their lowest tier. I would class this as a mid level piece at the very least. Aside from with the open mandibles, it looks really good with the other facial options. I actually prefer the eyes here than how they were in the film, which looked a bit comical at times (bulbous, large iris'). Here they look more intense and alien like. He also appears to be taller than the Elder, which would be another plus in my book. Thanks to both yours and Clipper's videos (did you see his disc throwing pose?) I'm very tempted to get this.
The quills are not as pronounced on the City Hunter in the film so the figure is actually accurate. Wolf has a unique head shape and biomask, his quills are much more pronounced by design in the film and figure form.
this review was so long ago, but to anyone that owns this model, I have a question. is the non-battle damage arms gauntlet removable? we're talking about the arm that can be swapped out for the damaged arm, I want to know if the gauntlet is removable or part of the arms mold. making a custom and I have to choose between this and shadow predator, but I prefer the paint on city hunter.

I remember renting Robocop on VHS from the local video store when I was a kid LOL, I was so young and the film was an 18. Good times!

The eyes should sit lower and of coures be light yellow, and tjey always make the dreads way too light colored and they are too thich looking
