  • Here I show the current measured for a 60 watt light bulb and a 700 watt iron. The iron turned off when it reached the required temperature for ironing clothes which I discovered after I ended the video. For the iron the transformer saves about 45% current from solving the proportion formula of 3.07/5.59 = x/100 by cross multiplying giving x = 55. 100 - 55 = 45. Will increasing the thickness of the wires help? I don't know. My copper losses theory may not be the problem and why do smaller devices need more current from the wall in proportion? That is a mystery to me.
