Not really a work around for Me... I have Filmora 10.. and noticed that if you select "remove background" at "strong" it highly affects the sound quality of my voice and makes it sound like it's coming from a small box. Other solutions may include using a preamp. Turning on the "wind attenuator" in recording settings also works but then again turns down the volume (which can be turned up in post via Filmora) but still is not ideal as the volume is still too low overall. I may go for the Rode Video Pro now as that one allows you to increase the gain on the actual mic by 20 db which allows you to turn the volume low in the manual settings. Canons have horrible built in preamps
OMG YOU ARE A GENIUS! All of these years I thought it was the mic - well I'm on my third Rode Mic and I was just about convinced it was my camera settings. The background noise reduction can be used on iMovie - I just tried it and it 100% worked. I'm BLOWN AWAY!
THANK YOU!!! I finally got my sound to stop ringing! Was the biggest disappointment to record a whole video only to find it was ringing and I thought I'd almost need to get a new microphone! Watched too many videos before I reached this one and I'm glad I persevered! You saved it!
Yeah, that does work for removing the hissing sound, but it makes the audio sound really flat and tinny. Also I'm wondering how to get rid of the popping sound between clips which I hear in a lot of videos. Any ideas?
Sir, I bought fuji xt100 due to budget constraint. I like the camera overall but the hissing noise while using external mic are really annoying. I too use filmora. I am going to try the option and see if the hissing noise is removed. Thanks for the wonderful update.
Thanks for the tutorial! I was facing the same problem with my Rode mic. I figured out that there is also a way to cancel the noise in OBS studio recorder (it is called the noise suppression filter), similar to how you described in the video. Now I can enjoy recording videos without having to worry about the background noise, great stuff!
I have rode Videomic go 2 with bad hiss on a canon g7x MK3 but get no hiss with videomicro. So frustrating and not everyone wants to have to try and eradicate hissing sounds from every video file. I’m not happy
Thank you so so much. I will try this. I just bought this micro and I also use the same software. I've been searching and asking so many channels, I like how you show the steps. EXACTLY what I need! 😥
I've been editing videos for ages but usually use a lav mic so no need to remove hiss. Got the video micro and was disappointed. Didn't think to just use my software. Only needed it on like 2 out of 100 and it sorted it. Thank you!
Problem is if I remove the back ground noise, it filters out my club sound hitting the ball! I think I might just buy a preamp or upgrade the rode to one with built in preamp.
This is a tiny bit off topic but I bought this same mic the other day and I wanted it to record guitar so I did that and recorded 3 songs with a Sony Xperia 5 and the rode vlogger mic I got home to listen to the audio on the Sony Xperia and it sounds amazing but then I uploaded my songs to Facebook and UA-cam and the sound was very difficult to hear. Does anyone have any solution?
Nice video, I've on the other side buzzin sound problem on my Lumix and Fuji Cameras.. tried different mic but if I use my cameras on battery it's fine, when I attach camera to power supply (for longer video) the noise totally makes my audio unusable.. tried different charger and camera, some mics on different brand camera. I don't know how to solve this, can't test better mic to know if they're grounded better.
Filmora's a great program but unfortunately this feature does not work. It chops the original audio sound too much (it takes away the noise but the volume goes up and down more wildly).
I am from India and I have subscribed Ur channel and watching Ur videos for long time.i haven't got any spinners yet .but I luv traaaaaaading dude.ur awesome
Thank you so much, This helped solved the problem! :) The only issue is that if I remove too much background nose it turns a bit muffled, but other than that it works perfectly !
jesus u r the one. this problem annoyed me so much, i even asked the store that sold me this mic but they didnt know it. why do mic stores have no idea about this problem and they sell these kinds of equipment and try to make money. thank you very much. just saved my aaaas
It's a fantastic little mic. I don't really get too many issues with white noise when connected to my Panasonic camera. Previously with the same camera you have i always had to use the noise removal in final cut to get clean audio whatever mic I was using. Glad you found a solution 👍
OMG thank you so much for this!!!! I was having the exact same problem and I contacted Rode and they sent me a new mic. I was having the same problem with the new one until I come across this video! I also use the same editing software. Thanks so much for uploading this!
This is not fixed. This is a plaster on a bullet wound. You are reducing your sound quality when you need post production. I found that this seems to be common with DSLRs, even the mirrorless new ones. I plugged the same mic into my mobile and recorded sound on that. WOW, what a difference. No hum, no hiss. Just clean audio. I think camera preamps just suck.
You need to raise up the volume then listen closely. The hissing is very annoying... it’s a hissing noise in the background if you really listen when nobody is speaking.
Not even using a $200 set of professional Audio-Technica headphones could I hear the hissing sound you were talking about. Not saying it was not there, just saying that you would have done better to boost the audio volume during that portion of your video so that users could easily hear what you were talking about. Also, this is more of a Work-Around the problem, rather than an actual fix for the problem, so the title is a little deceiving. Just some friendly advice since you have a 20% dislike ratio on this video. I did not dislike your video, I am just offering advice to help you improve it.
Hey nice vedio micro i look like camera the is also awesome I don't know what is upside of it i can't understand what is it it is really hard to control you are really awesome 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
iluvTrading love your all videos Wow good that you have buy that video Microphone that will help you in your videos and you can get better sound with it🤗 love from Pakistan💚 iluvTrading is my inspiration😍 Your supporter🔥
According to this fellow the coiled red cable is the cause of the hiss. Replace it with a regular straight one and the hiss is gone: ua-cam.com/video/m0cyGCg6zTM/v-deo.html

Adobe Audition addon can rid of it.

My problem with aux cable

is there an video app that does this?
people be criticizing you for this being just a workaround fix but in my opinion it's better becuz it doesn't matter what camera you're using thanks
I have rode Videomic go 2 with bad hiss on a canon g7x MK3 but get no hiss with videomicro. So frustrating and not everyone wants to have to try and eradicate hissing sounds from every video file. I’m not happy
I’ve been trying to fix this issue for weeks FINALLY your video helped get it done THANK YOU! I will not forget you when I become UA-cam famous 😃
Such a simple fix for an annoying problem....if only all tech related issues were that easy to get rid of 👍🇬🇧
Does it work if you film outside without killing the area noise?
Well.. and your voice also became "flat".
This is not a fix...
Thank you so so much. I will try this. I just bought this micro and I also use the same software. I've been searching and asking so many channels, I like how you show the steps. EXACTLY what I need! 😥

Have you tried using a straigh cable to connect the mic?
Totally worked for me. thanks! This annoying noise had ruined so many of my earlier videos.
Problem is if I remove the back ground noise, it filters out my club sound hitting the ball! I think I might just buy a preamp or upgrade the rode to one with built in preamp.
Why does it make this hissing sound? This is a good microphone so why does it make the hissing sound?
Awesome product. Great job
Any advice to get rid of that noise on iPhone or Android? help!!!

My 750d only has the option to either record sound or not. There is no option to alter recording level.
I have a 750D too, these options are there in the settings if you go on the film recording menu
Filmora's a great program but unfortunately this feature does not work. It chops the original audio sound too much (it takes away the noise but the volume goes up and down more wildly).
Yea but I’m not trying to do this to 300 clips I shot at an event…
I am from India and I have subscribed Ur channel and watching Ur videos for long time.i haven't got any spinners yet .but I luv traaaaaaading dude.ur awesome
so the mic is shit? because its screwing up my recordings with the droning background noise
Thanks a lot! This was the only video that helped us to fix the problem!
Thank you so much, This helped solved the problem! :) The only issue is that if I remove too much background nose it turns a bit muffled, but other than that it works perfectly !
How have i only just figured out that iMovie has this functionality?? Thank you for making me google this 👍
How do you successfully avoid recording the lens autofocus noise, please
Don’t use auto focus
So there is no real fix not in post ?
I got that same issue a while back.
Does that mic work with cell phones? I know some of them do.
The lav or wired mic does but the rode mic only works on dslr cameras.
iLuvTrading good to know. Thanks for answering my question, my friend.
iLuvTrading I have been a long time supporter, since i had my old account. And still supporting with this one.
jesus u r the one. this problem annoyed me so much, i even asked the store that sold me this mic but they didnt know it. why do mic stores have no idea about this problem and they sell these kinds of equipment and try to make money. thank you very much. just saved my aaaas
So I just got the mic, it is awful with full off hissing sound. I will use filmora and hopefully fix it
Great tips mate! 👍
Was actually thinking of you and your setup when I was going through these mic issues. Lol
It's a fantastic little mic. I don't really get too many issues with white noise when connected to my Panasonic camera. Previously with the same camera you have i always had to use the noise removal in final cut to get clean audio whatever mic I was using. Glad you found a solution 👍
