I have dealt with thousands of these, and your workflow is perfect. One suggestion - buy both the inny and outy Jesus clip pliers. Set the inny for the big noses (the knob), and the outy for the back of the cylinder (tiny noses). Almost every time you use Jesus clip pliers for the next 40 years, that is how you will need them set up -- keep the other noses in the little red case for the extremely rare time you need them for another purpose...
