What a blessed concert! Bob Dylan shines since the begining (with Maggie's Farm) til the end. These versions are so strong as brillant! Blowing in the wind seemed to me his best one. Thanks City Of Red Skies!
Such a wonderful gig. Wish I’d been there. Funny that ten years later when I worked in a direct access homeless hotel just opposite Earl’s Court various people I worked with there gave me Dylan bootlegs cos they knew I was mad about him.
I worked in a hostel just literally across the road from Earl’s Court venue. It wasn’t my main place of work but sometimes I went there if they were stuck. It was unusually a direct access hostel so homeless people could just show up and get a bed for the night if they didn’t look like they were going to set fire to the place or the staff. Arsonists are the most hated group of ppl in hostels in London. Kinda obvious I suppose. But once when I was there I was doing a shift with a gorgeous smiley Caribbean guy called Isaac. He’d heard I liked Bob so next time I met him he gave me some Bob bootlegs. I was disappointed at the time he already had a girlfriend. Lucky woman. He was very beautiful but he did know it. That was circa 87-89.
Great gig btw. It was that summer I found Bob. Found cigarettes too big time. And a cobbler in Donegal who fixed my beautiful black leather clogs. Or was he a blacksmith. Anyway he fixed my groovy shoes. Replaced the studs. I have a photo where I’m wearing them in which I’m telling someone to F off. Cos they’d grabbed my camera and turned it on me.
Now if Bob had just waited a decade to go to Earl’s Court I could’ve bopped across the road from my job. Or given him a bed for the night….. and even let him use my phone 📞
What??! how’s that possible?? Am in Earl’s Court right now! (My brain changed her name , sorry, happens occasionally that another name unconsciously seems more right 😂)
This is fabulous. And 78 also the summer I finally found Dylan. ❤

Back later. Bob’s too much of a temptation away from other stuff…..
