Hi Dianne, Another exceptional explanation of technique and value. I always learn from your demos. Thank you.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
Thank you Diane your videos are so helpful, thank you 🙏🏻 greetings from Chihuahua, Mexico 🇲🇽
Keep enjoying the journey!
Very helpful!
I am delighted. Have fun with it.
As a digital painter, I have been struggling to paint with oils (digitally in Rebelle Pro), and I have found your videos to be really enlightening. I now understand that I should work from dark to light in most cases. Thank you very much!
My pleasure. Enjoy the journey!
Fabulous tip as always, thanks again!!
Thanks, Tricia. Keep enjoying the journey.
You are so wonderful. I really needed to know this. So helpful. Thank you, Diane.❤️😁
Thanks, Brenda!
So helpful! Thank you.
My pleasure.
This is so helpful, thank you very much 😊👍🌹
Glad it was helpful!
Great tips Diane. I use all of these. I have found that mixing on a grey palette and painting on a white canvas means I tend to mix too dark, whereas if the palette and the canvas are a similar value, I can mix values more accurately.
Whatever it takes to get the color working is what each of us needs to do.
I would say paint for enjoyment at this point.
Paint for enjoyment always.
I love the strip test method!❤
It really does work.
you are a national treasure
My goodness! That's huge. Thank you.
@@IntheStudioArtInstruction lol believe it! In our art circles we love your videos and talk about you all the time.
Gracias
My pleasure.
Hi Dianne. Thanks for another great QT. I have a question. While we are learning to paint in dark to light values, would you necessarily block in all the darks first? The ones in the chicken AND the ones in the grass and then come back and work in the lights?
Yes, absolutely, but not specifically. I block in the general areas of dark first because they are essential to the shadow pattern. It really works to forget what it is and begin the block in with the general shadow and light patterns we see.
Hi Dianne. Could you explain how to increase a colors intensity/vibrancy? When you've talked about intensity in the past it's always about lowering it. However, I want to know how to increase it into a mixed color. I'm having a lot of trouble doing this. An example would be that I mix a colors value (say yellow ochre) that I'm happy with, which usually dulls it. So I want to keep the value but increase the colors intensity. Is there a way of judging this?
To raise the intensity, you identify the hue of the color whose intensity you want to raise, then you mix into that color one that is the same hue, but as fully saturated as available. For example, yellow ochre's hue from some manufacturers is yellow-orange leaning towards yellow. So to raise its intensity, a tube color such as cadmium yellow deep will work. Cad yellow deep's hue is yellow orange and it is a high saturation.
I can't thank you enough for that. I've had such a mental block over this. Thanks Dianne!@@IntheStudioArtInstruction
SO HELPFL! THANKS!
You're welcome!
Dear Dianne, I like your palette. Is it on the market or did you make it yourself?
I use paper disposible palettes. They are usually small and Very white. /Thanks for your educational videos🌹
Marie, that palette came with the pochade box which I bought well over 13 years ago. I'm not sure it's still available today.
You can try Grey Matters paper palettes made by Richeson. They are neutral grey and come 9x12, 12 x 16 or 16 x 20.
Thanks lady
My pleasure.
Hi Diane. I’m wondering if you would be open to reviewing the COLOR CUBE? I’m curious to whether you think that it’s worth the money or not. Thank you.
Susan, I'll be happy to do that. But since it will be late November before it will appear on UA-cam, I can tell you that when you learn to mix according to the traditional color wheel, you don't really need to invest any more money. See my free concept lesson at the top of diannemizeacademy.com/
@@IntheStudioArtInstruction Thank you for the reply. That would be awesome. I’m going to watch tight now. Have a wonderful day.
start with the middle value and work from there faster and easier
Thank you for your comment, William, but my question is this: Is faster and easier the experience we are aiming for?
@@IntheStudioArtInstruction if the result is good it doesn t matter if journey is fast or slow.
@@IntheStudioArtInstructionYour way is way more accurate! :D
you are the sweetest, thank you so much! i'll watch all of your videos:3🤍
