I hope you are still fine under difficult time. Apart from it, good job for the repair. I like your manner you always start with cleaning up the body before doing repairs. Very neat way! The electrolytic caps are all bottleneck for Sony equipment in this era (90s mostly). And it is wise to replace them with SMD capacitors. Suggestions are: 1) tantalum caps are good for performance but still have possibilities to break in catastrophic manner as it fails in "short" mode between VCC line and ground. 2) the most weak caps are within DC-DC converter which is used for tuning-voltage supply over varicap. In this SW7600's case they are inside shielded tin can so difficult to replace in fact. If it was not replaced this time, the next time you better replace it first. GL and 73!
Thank you my friend! If you follow the link in the description, you will see that I am not only changing the capacitor in the DC-DC module, but also making a mod there. Tantalum capacitors do not last forever, but I think they will work for another 20 years.
ICF-7600 the most perfect version that SONY has produced. I regret so much that I sold it in 2005, the 2002 model. I have tried several brands and models, but ICF-7600 is NUMBER ONE ⭐⭐👍Then comes the ICF-55⭐⭐
I have one to refurbish, this is helpful for my project, TNX for sharing; I diagnosed the the tuner and at high frequencies above 20MHz, no PLL lock, for sure DC/DC converter issue, hi.
Hello, I went to see your post on the forum (antique radios), I saw your post with the detailed steps accompanied by photos, it's great. I registered to discuss with you, but my registration has not yet been validated, is the forum no longer accepting new members? THANKS
Hello, I can't stop watching your video it's so encouraging. I'm going to buy the same radio, it has a fault, it doesn't pick up FM, can it be repaired if I change the same parts as you? THANKS
It seems to me that before starting a repair you need to make sure that you understand how the circuit works, how to determine if the parts are ok or faulty, have the proper tools and skills to replace bad parts, make measurements and alignments.
I have the inspection tools, and I have the soldering tools, but unfortunately I don't have the skills 😥. If not where did you buy the (yellow) parts?. Thanks Another question, if the radio doesn't pick up FM, do you think it's fixable?
Ha ha I suspected it well, and I wished it at the same time, because I thought of that. It's good for me because the car polish I have 😄. Thank you very much

Great video for anyone picking up one of these old SW radios! Could you provide a cap list and size of the caps and parts needed to rebuild one of these?
Thank you! I didn't count the number of capacitors. This is easy to do if you take the scheme. I recommend changing all electrolytic at once. I used size B SMD tantalum capacitors.
I buy capacitors in an online store. There are a little over two dozen of them. The easiest way is to just look at the list of electrolytic capacitors in the service manual. The new tantalum ones are size B. Preferably a little more voltage.
@@ukrainehamradio thank you for the answer. So tantalum ones should be exactly size B as I seen online size A and size D. The other sizes not gonna fit?
@@HardcoreDXLithuania You can use other sizes, but it may be difficult for you to solder them. If you already have capacitors of other sizes, it's best to try placing it on pads and see if you can solder it.
Чи маєте Ви можливість зробити аналогічний ремонт та настройку такого радіо, пропадає то появляється FM модуляція. Можна з вами якось вийти на зв'язок?
In this receiver, I left the Rubycons because they had good parameters. In another receiver, I replaced them too, at the request of the owner, but it is difficult to find a good replacement in the right size.

Nice work Amezing RADIO ❤
Nice video. Sony is the best.
The early Sony 7600 from 1983 onwards to 1987 didn't suffer from this problem as no surface mount capacitors were used.
Thank you for info! I never got the early models.
Great video , just wanted to ask how and what material you used for cleaning circuit board when you took off the old capacitors ?
Thank you! Just isopropyl alcohol. It does not destroy other materials on the board.
