The music is so complex it's as if each musician is playing his own mini masterpiece of a song and they all just happen to coincide beautifully. What a performance.
Me too. Sting in general. I loved him for years, then dropped off, and now looking back, I'm realizing he's probably one of the most talented song writers of all time. Pretentious, but it's deserved when you're one of the most sophisticated musicians going.
Sting giving a little "pat on the back" to Dominic while entering the stage. Bass player very happy to rock a fretless with a ton of chorus. At 2:52 David Sancious gives a look and a big smile to his colleague who is going to play Oud or something (is it samples ?). I like the drumsticks on the congas too. Lots of little nuggets from great professionnals. "Music is not only the notes you play, it is how you play them."
David Sancious was also an early member of the E Street Band. They replaced him with Roy Bittan and went on to tour with…Sting (among others) in 1988 for Amnesty International.
For real !! And as a matter of fact Sting sang this song on SNL and he played the bass in that performance, in his own style which is picking the bass with his thumb

I agree, he only uses sterling pros! david Sanchez is playing two instruments at once
Absolutely incredible. This band is absurdly talented.
Those Philly strings during the middle eight then the horns come in...such beauty
The atmosphere is absolutely perfect for the song's lyrics & meaning. Top notch! Studio quality live! Amazing stuff.
Sensational performance!
And that “sax” solo was perfection too. Wow!! It doesn’t get any better then that. 10/10 👌
I forgot how good this Sting album was.

so did the rest of the world. This guy makes MILLIONS lol No wonder he owns a castle and doesn't care ;P
It’s a masterpiece
Killer performance by both Sting and the band. Amazing how Paul and the cats are able to adapt to any song/artist.
Crazy...
Check out: Steve Winwood on Letterman.... Amazing
Letterman always had the best band…. Of course next to Leno and Jimmy Fallon and the Roots
I’m lost without you
I remember this episode 😢❤❤
I was but a wee lad in high school
I remember buying Zenyatta £4 from Woolworths. Just a wee lad.
2023 and I seen him on concert 2 months ago. He sang this song and he still sounds great
Thanks for this; perhaps my fave Sting song (on my fave TV show too)

Quantos gostariam de estar no seu lugar e nem que desejem estarão a sua altura como pessoa, como cantor e grande compositor. God bless you Forever.
Poor Will made that 1 mistake at the end and recovered , but you can see sting get slightly sidetracked by it .but they sounded great!
👍❤️
Who was the guy doing the digital sax? The mouthpice/keyboard combo
David Sancious

Why didn't he play the bass??
Because he trust in Will Lee of course. A master of bass guitar.
One day Sting said he could not sing without playing the bass....
@@jotamail1102 he is not, just pity assignment for that guy

He’s the chief of police that’s why
Kind of a waste of Dominic Miller. I could barely hear him.
Quite right mate, that Argentine-brit guy could play like a beast both in sound and technique. I could easily compare him with Steve Hackett
I think Vinnie colaiuta had issues with Dom
