Thx man. Been using mpc since mpc 2000. With my experience, I still find your tutorials useful. Thanks again
Great Stuff Main ! ... Detailed explanations . I m still an MPC child. I have been looking for some new teachers to help me wrap my head around this new planet. Keep up the awesome teaching ......
You and Marlow Digs have been the best things in my life right now.
Man I was looking for this info for weeks!! One vid and all my questions are answered. Blessings!!
Hey just wanted to say thank you so much for all your hard work and well thought out Tutorials! You’ve made my transition into using the MPC Live much more enjoyable as well as helped me to decide between the MPC and the Octatrack. Cheers! You deserve any good things coming your way.
Thanks Andrew, much appreciated:)
I'm a dj with over 25 years under my belt... lol not that that matters -- dude this is awesome .. kudoz
I wish I bought a Live instead of a Touch :(
I was 8 audio tracks in using Reason as audio module, and then realized I couldnt play the mutes, I should of known to look in the sample edit screen but you came to the rescue again.
Thanks, I got a few jewels from this that I did'nt know about. Thanks for the contribution Digga...💯🎶🔊
Great video ,thanks. I had a lot of question regarding acapellas and how to better understand the capabilities of my new MPC X.
That acapella on top of this beat is really good.
I find it easiest to just write most of the song on the MPC (stand alone or controller mode) and then stem the tracks out. Throw the tracks in a DAW and then record external audio such as guitar, keyboard, vocals, etc. An alternate option is to just use one sequence. Another alternate is to assign the audio to pads via the looper or a new drum program.
Tubedigga for president !!!!!!
This dude is the best.
Man I can't wait to get that X!!!!
Thanks heaps for this. Can you record audio in song mode like the 5000 and JJOS? Cheers
How did you silent the original beat and raised the vocal to your beat? Can’t figure that out.
Thank you for your knowledge
Can you record into a clip a lot on the mpc?
Great video! Thank you! Have you found a way to trim audio tracks so that it doesn't snap to the bars?
Thanks! Hold down the 'Don't Snap' button after pressing on the audio file or region you wish to move, or just press TC and deselect/don't use any time correction values
TUBE DIGGA boom! ThanQ!
Nices video's can u help me out on the software just the software the 2.0 as well as the 2.2 how can you copy and paste your audio courses cuz I got clients that just only like to say they course one time then they want me to fly them in can you help me please!!! I will appreciate it thank you.
Hey Tube Digga, I have asked a bunch of questions because I am new with MPC One, but I just now learned how to record audio tracks into the MPC One, but my question is, and I heard that this was a big problem with the audio tracks, but say that I have three sequences with the same audio track in it, and I don't want it in track 2, can I go into that sequence and delete it without it deleting the other two on sequence 1 and 3? Or is there a way to mute it out in song mode where you don't want it in certain parts of the song? I haven't tried it yet, but I just kind of want to have an idea before I drive myself crazy trying to figure it out, because it took me forever just to figure out how to record an audio track into the MPC One? Any knowledge on the audio tracks? Thanks...SBN RESONATE
Hey man love your vids, I have a question maybe you can answer. If I'm recording an audio track with my external synth, no matter how hard I try to get the recording tight to time, I end up with a little clip/pop noise when it loops on itself. Cant seem to figure out how to get rid of it. Seems like a huge problem but maybe you have a solution? Im trying to track basslines/lead from an external monophonic keyboard into the audio track input.
Shee-it. I'm really drawn to this machine, but I need a massive palette board for audio and sampling for what I want to do, which is gonna take a lot of memory. Is it possible to get this if I jam the thing into my Mac, or can I buy additional memory, d'you know? It's a l-o-n-g time since I bought any kit.
The Live has a optional SATA drive. Get it!!!
This was a great video! I've subscribed, as my MPC Live is on its way to my door, within the next few days. I feel like I'm going to be learning a lot from you, in the coming weeks.
Do you have any experience running devices (other synths) into the MPC Live and recording that mixed in? Is that even possible? I have an OP-1 and Roli Blocks, and I'd really like to be able to create ensemble pieces using combinations of sounds from all devices. I'm really hoping it'll be straight forward, though I've yet to have my hands on the device, to know for certain.
Anyway, thanks again for this video, very entertaining watch, and very informative at the same time. It's like taking a class and enjoying it at the same time. Kinda weird, really... :D
Yes lots, I’ve owned an OP-1 before and also used other synths controlled by MPCs. I do Skype lessons, if you’re interested please PM me - I can get you up and running within an hour :)
Skype lessons? For money? Living in China, it would be difficult to actually pay for your time, so I'd just as soon not want to waste your time. :P I would love the opportunity to Skype and jam with you, sometime, but again, I won't assume it's ok to use up your time for free if you're in the habit of charging for lessons.
You can pay via PayPal, easy - up to you.
how can i mix audio tracks with filter, adjust hi mid lows etc??? i cant find it...
I know this is not the right video but I am frustrated as hell please don't tell me that the MPC Live cannot receive on multiple midi channels like a multi timbral midi module please don't tell me tha
t is the case please I see how to change the output to multi timbral but not the input what the heck
Just want to know can you import 24 tracks of audio from a Daw project into the MPC live and mix it all in the MPC live using the audio tracks
In standalone mode you only have 8 audio tracks, but in controller mode you have as many as your computer can handle
thank you for this video, that was really quick to get it done and uploaded :) so with acapellas of old songs which are not 4x4 say like an old soul track, would you have to chop it up into sections and then warp each section to get it to play on time or is that something better done in a daw after you export your beat out of the machine? thanks again for the video and look forward to more!
Yeah as said in the video, either import an acapella that you’ve properly timed up in Ableton etc, or use the chopping features to get things timed up.
thanks Digga! i got a long ways to go learning the X but i'm having fun and looking forward to remixing some classics all in the box one day soon.
PM me if you get stuck, I do Skype calls (not free but you’ll get a lot out of them).
You can’t add warp markers and stretch or move samples around in the same way.
@@TUBEDIGGA is there any way i can get a copy of your busta remix in this vid for my dj sets?
I have a simple but damn annoying problem I cant seem to work out lol. I insert an acapella the same way but the beat is 8 bars which i want to loop over and over while an acapella plays from start to end. The acapella only plays 8 bars too and starts again with the beat. Where am I going wrong?
p.s the acapella is 100 bars.
10A Set the track length for the 8 bar beat to 32 beats (8 bars) and set the sequence length to at least 100 bars.
10A Or just use the double length feature on the beat track enough times to extend the sequence beyond 100 bars.
Really appreciate it man thank you
Now I have to stop watching tutorials and pump some Busta Rhymes right now. Thanks! 😄
Hey Question: I'm about to bite the bullet and go buy an MPC live or an X in an effort to go mostly DAWless. My needs/uses are pretty simple: I make mostly Boom-Bap beats; i use Samples, some virtual instruments for spice, Breaks and plan on laying pretty basic rap vocals/and hooks on the audio tracks. I want to use it as a standalone EP/album machine. That being said I've heard of some issues with RAM limits etc. Have you seen this to be an issue and given my uses do you think I'll face any problems? I do plan on upgrading the storage to a 500gb SSD but I'm not sure how limiting the 2gb memory really is? Thanks in advance!
I personally don’t think it’s limiting at all because I come from a background of having next to no RAM. Most people who criticise these machines are either new to the game, or spoilt and used to having tons of ram at their disposal after using a computer and have overblown expectations. Check this selection out, genre wise it might not be your cup of tea but all this was done in standalone: www.deloris.info/phaedrus
TUBE DIGGA awesome I really appreciate the response. I was pretty sure it was internet overreacting. I mean I used to record on multitrack tape or digital standalone machines and we made some great albums that way. We’re all just so spoiled now. And thanks for the examples, I’m old enough to remember how much crossover there is between Boom Bap and Jungle. That album is sick BTW haha and really shows the possibilities of the MPC live in standalone.
Thank you sir you legend I think tank good I have Ableton but whole point in the mpc for me is standalone or should have just used the computer which I hate so when the audio track is in there and you can cut it up will it still be in time ?
Yes D, if you chop into it the sections will remain in place unless you specifically move them around with the first arrow tool. You can use your time correction to select what time divisions the sections will snap to, and if you press and hold the 'Don't Snap' tab in the bottom left (after pressing on a section), you can freely slide the sections around without snapping to a time division (in the same way as having no time division set).
Thanks for the reply
Hello! I love your videos but I’m having some trouble with this. What are your rates for Skype sessions?
Chris Alvarez Hi Chris, please email me at tubedigga@gmail.com
Im gonna be honest I keep coming back to this video because your very good at explaining mpc live stuff, but honestly every time I realize its that same busta rhymes song I tap out, Wish we had a different audio track video, INB4 pt 2
Busta should listen to this version
Audio Tracks are a great idea, but SO flawed. Even with disk streaming, they feel rather pointless. At this stage, it seems like the best purpose for them would be to add backing tracks, or stems/acapellas and stuff (as you showed). With disk streaming, this WOULD be great and very usable, however while Audio Tracks aren't locked into a sequence, all of their settings are project wide. Just everything about it seems so strange. Are you supposed to record long form audio over top of a finished song, that has been converted to one long sequence? Are you supposed to just record audio in 4-8 bar (aka typical sequence lengths) chunks across a bunch of sequence, when you can even do track mutes? Seems like the obvious solution would be to have the ability to have the Audio Tracks be able to be set as one shots that aren't locked to a sequence...or something. Akai needs to do a major overhaul on Audio Tracks because I honestly doubt many people use them at all.
I’m using mpc one. And when I hit sample edit. It gives me ( sample edit not available for audio tracks
It shouldn't do - are you sure you mean SAMPLE EDIT and not PROGRAM EDIT?
@@TUBEDIGGA man not sure. I found a way to make it work for me. It was the first time using Audio tracks. It turns out the way I use them the Audi tracks are amazing. I record guitar and a few other external keys into the mpc in audio tracks. I like that I have Fx for guitar. I came out with a tune. Sounds really good with the audio tracks. I’m more in love with the mpcOne. Appreciate the videos
How can you get audio files into track mute? Or maybe convert audio into midi file?
Audio tracks aren't available in track mute mode, you either have to mute them from the main page or from the mixer in AUDIO TRACK view.
Don't know if you ever found the answer, but the audio file should be in your pool in "sample assign" mode. Add it in your beat pad and go back and mute the actual audio file. It should then show up in track mute. Yw folks! Lol
Also forgot to mention when recording it back in the beat you literally just have to hit the pad ONE time at the very beginning of sequence as your audio file will come in exactly how you played it in audio mode. Yw again folks! Lol! Go and buy a beat from me soufprobeats.com
Cant u just bounce them to a sample them use track mute?
@@chadmuskaa2806
Yes...
Can you play 2 sequences together at the same time in song mode on the mpc live or x?
No I already answered this question which you asked me on another video. I think the MPC 2000/2000 Xl had a second sequence feature. Maybe other older MPCs as well.
How about playing 2 different drum programs on the same sequence is that possible? Seems not? Mpc only plays what is selected in the drum program?
@@12tribes61 You can have up to 128 different programs in a project. You just assign programs to tracks. So in any given sequence you can assign whatever programs you like to whatever tracks. You can have the same program on multiple tracks etc.
How do you make x sound dirty with out buying a s 950
Richard Lawrence Filters, resampling at high speeds then pitching back down, and the Air LoFi is decent too.
What this stretched with mpc software?
No, standalone
10k Views!!
You said you found that acapello works best at 99 BPMs but it looks like it was set at 100 on the screen
Agility Beats It worked best at 99bpm but for some reason the mpc calculated it as 100
So what if you don’t know the exact tempo/bpm of ur acapella? I’ve stripped several 80s tunes and redid the instruments under them not affecting the pitch of acapella ( cool u can in the MPC live and warp) but is there any feature that helps u to kinda “quantize” warp audio acapellas. Cause I’ve found those old recordings drift in tempo and
Don’t stay in time all the way through, which makes me just use key phrases. Or is it just a matter of syncing it yourself on the downbeat?
Maxton Barber No it doesn’t behave like Ableton and detect anything in that way. Either splice the audio in the audio track and shuffle about or as you said, assign phrase to pads and sequence/trigger them as note data. This video was to show you ideally need to pre prepare them in a DAW. Once timed up though the audio is rock solid and perfectly synced.
I find a lot of acapellas drift cause they are off vinyl.
Is it true that if u mute an audio track on a certain sequence ...IT WILL BE MUTED ON EVERY SEQUENCE???
Just learned that the answer is no. It’s sequence independent.
That busta Acapella was the first Remix i made with my own beat 🎹🔊🎵🎼🔈🔈
When i was 15
This shit right
Love what you do BUT all the music with the racial slurs and vulgarity I find quite offensive!
