      Literally the gambler's fallacy - it's so common and so dumb a thought process that it has a name. The lottery doesn't have a memory, it doesn't have a favourite number that it picks more than any other - every number has the exact same chance to be drawn as every other number, and every string of numbers has the same odds as any other string of numbers. I'm honestly shocked that no one picked up on that and just said "yeah well it's technically true it's just not going to change your odds much"

    I like how the name "Rich Evans" is trademarked in the video description.
    Also, regarding the end, the fact that Mike was so confused by Jack's suggestion to write down the number, further adds to the distinct possibility that Rich's magical guess was not set up. Mike and Rich have officially undergone a mind-meld.
    They are now the same person... and RIP Tim.

    I once worked a retail job where my ending register amount was $555.55. My shift ended at 5pm during May (the fifth month) I thought "Wow! What are the chances? Might as well buy a lotto ticket!" I check the grand winning total - 55 Million. No way! For the hell of it I buy 5 tickets at $5 a piece and leave it to fate.
    A day after the draw I hear that a winning ticket was in my hometown but had yet to be claimed. How much? 5 million! Excited I check my ticket! ... Sorry nothing. Turns out the winning ticket was for another draw and that the person who eventually claimed it, won off auto generated numbers.

    The lotto video and the cranio-sacrum video are actually very similar: they both prey on desperation.
    Financial desperation is easy to understand but back pain isn’t visible. But if you have significant back pain, almost nothing can get rid of it. MAYBE spinal surgery will help, but maybe not. That’s why chiropractic has existed for so long despite a dubious scientific basis: it helps as much as regular medicine does (and doesn’t get you addicted to opioids).
    Quackery like this video is easy to understand when viewed in that light. It isn’t doing anything, but most treatments for back pain don’t do anything.

    • @bigbakaboon
      @bigbakaboon 6 місяців тому +12

      I lost a longtime friend because they told me they were going to medical school, i asked what for? And they said Chiropracty .
      And then i said that's not real medical school.
      Then we argued for about an hour when i brought up that chiropracty was invented by the guy who came up with magnet therapy, and he was a known quack.
      Hope you're doing alright out there Lisa and haven't been sued for permanently fucking up someone's neck or back.

    • @asmodiusjones9563
      @asmodiusjones9563 6 місяців тому +10

      @@bigbakaboon it’s unfortunate. I do think most chiropractors genuinely believe they are helping people, but the underlying theory is extremely suspect.
      But again, real medicine barely does any better. In like 10% of humans, the sciatic nerve goes straight through the pirformis muscle rather than around it. Nothing will stop you from having sciatic pain in that instance. And that’s just one single potential cause of back pain.
