wow I just found out I'm Yoruba I'm so proud to know that I'm enjoying learning about my ancestry and the language I need those books your daughters are beautiful thanks for videos
What country are you from? I could help you with Yoruba. We start right from the alphabet, and in no time you will be speaking yoruba like you are drinking water. lol
I love this video. My husband is Nigerian and his way of helping me learn is by telling me to look on google 😑. The way you teach your daughters is so helpful to me. Thank you for this post. I wish people posted more like you.
Es'e gan! I need this very much. I want to learn this beautiful language for many reasons, two of which are: I believe learning various languages of our people across the planet can help us heal in many ways by tying our tongue back to that of our ancestors in a global unified movement of reparation for the world's first peoples nations. I also have fallen in love with the Oriki & Orin of the Yoruba culture and Ifa. I want to learn to understand the Oriki, Orin and the Pataki in the language in which it was given to us. So, again Es'e! I will be following!
I love this. It's very helpful, I am learning how to speak and understand Yoruba fluently. My parents are from Lagos states and I never been but I'm looking forward into going soon. As a child my parents didn't teach me much about the language that I would to learn about now. Keep up great job I love my fellow Nigerians
oye i love yoruba language i always speak it to my junior sister and my brother although they can communicate back but understand what it mean so i urge other parent to start doing the same thing to their own children too and be proud of their tribe language
Wow!! Ba wo ni!! I just love every video of yours. What an awesome family you have. Just got one new nigerian friend. And we trying to know each others languages. This is amazing, Yoruba is bae. The language is amazing. In love E se
Ashababy O WELCOME!! This is our 2nd year vlogging and we have a lot of videos of all sorts. Hope you enjoy them. Check out our Nigeria visit vlog on the Traveling Vacation playlist. Thanks, hope you subscribed.
Lucky me, my mother never taught me Yoruba she just spoke it to me when I was young, I picked it up easily, so whenever she speaks to me she mixes up English and Yoruba, I don't speak to her with it, she did that. I was never taught. I think you should do that, mix English and Yoruba with it and do some gestures, its very helpful.
Wonderful!... a mother taking the time to teach her children her language and heritage, in the diaspora. A WONDERFUL JOB!!!! A question for you (apologies if you have answered it before) Why are you teaching you children your mother tongue?
+Michael Richardson (Listen, Speak and Learn) Thank you. I am teaching them so that they will have a connection to their heritage and also an appreciation to it. In addition, they are Nigerians and this is the language that our tribe speaks.
my fiancee is Nigerian he lives in Lagos and he's been teaching me Yoruba it's a beautiful language if you can help me surprise him with new terms he didn't teach me yet. I would love it
+DNVlogsLife A thank you for responding, I was able to say a few simple words to him thanks to your video. he asked a question and I was able to answer yes in Yoruba he was surprised and very happy that I'm learning his native tongue.
Hello Please can you tell me what store in Nigeria you bought the books. I will be visiting Lagos soon and I would like to get Yoruba books for my little one. Thanks a lot. Regards
Do you know where I can find this book? All I see is that it is almost $100 on amazon and being in school I won't be able to go to Nigeria anytime soon
Tawana Jetton I got mine in Nigeria. I've not found it anywhere else. Maybe Amazon will have it. Taiwo and Kehinde are traditional names given to twins. If you have triplets, then the third child will be Idowu.. I think fourth is Alaba... I think...??
Would you please tell me where can I order or purchase Book 1 of the series? My fiancé is Yoruban and we will marry July 2016...I want to start learning his language...
my husband is Yoruba and has been trying to teach me the language. . It's like he just speaks as if I automatically understand. Where can you these books so I can teach myself so I won't look so crazy when he speaks to me? lol
goula2005 Aww.. You can search online, maybe you can find some books. It's a bit tough, hence why I got mine from Nigeria. Maybe your husband can have someone send over some books for you. Amazon does have some books but I have not seen any that suit our purpose.
lala woozworld Yes, you are right. I made the correction in the description area and if you are watching this on the computer and have annotation, you will see the correction. Thanks for pointing it out.
You should devote a portion of the day to immersion activities. Not direct teaching out of workbooks and with flashcards, but fun, relaxing activities where the children would be exposed to Yoruba consistently (for 15-30 minutes) and encouraged to respond as they can. Use gestures to enhance comprehension and correct in Yoruba (one or two word phrases). The girls are quickly getting to the age when patterning for languages becomes very difficult, but right now their little minds are still 'open'. Please, never mix up English and Yoruba. This creates a pigeon language that no one speaks and it is basically worthless.
Bawoni ,My friend is Nigerian, and I'm African American, and I am learning so much from u,he to is from the Yoruba tribe.ESE odabo!
You are doing really well! Thanks for watching
