Just saw them last night and noticed the injured finger. You would NEVER know he had an injury...sound was perfect. What an amazing player! What an amazing show!
Saw all three shows. Only noticed when he played All Along the Watchtower slightly differently than he normally does and was like holy sh*t he’s playing with three fingers. Was so amazing
Honestly sounds like a great practice technique. Tape off a different finger every so often and force yourself to play with just the others. Probably would improve your playing in unexpected ways.
he sounds great - but his lines and tone sound less Jerry - like. Do you hear that as well or am I imagining it? Great Video - that Brett Mason sounds buttery!
Ok, I am just as big a mayer fan as all of us here. I think this is just getting blown out of proportion lol. Lets be real... we knew he would perform the shows. The tip of the index finger isnt life altering in any way, is it amazing that he did the show yes, but if you're any kind of mayer fan, you knew he'd do the show. This will not be looked back on like it was just the greatest thing he's ever done.. he jammed his finger and played the rest of his contracted shows. I also disagree with the notion that many other guitarists would've called off the show... dave grohl played with a broken leg..if he can play with a broken leg... john can use his other fingers to play. Not saying its not difficult to do not lessening his injury... just saying he is a professional and we know he wouldve played these shows whether he told us about the injury or not. (and before yall comment about how we dont use legs to play guitar... obviously i know this lol, I'm talking about the principle here)
So many musicians would reschedule or get a stand in. This is a masterful show of BALLS!!
I saw the first two shows of that first weekend following the injury and couldn’t believe my ears. Seemless playing.

One legend discussing another legend!
John sounds great! I knew he could do it! ❤

Also the Brent Mason sounded absolutely amazing. Really fit in well with the sound.
Django Mayer
I cut the tip of mine off. It grew back and healed still hurts once in awhile but it took a while to get back to guitaring
Thanks Justin! Would we really expect anything less from John? ❤

John with one finger would prob sound better then me 😂
Me too brother 😂
Better that it’s dead music and not his music. Less bending more straightforward and laid back.
Still what a pro and master.
He’s been playing a lot more fenders recently
He's the kinda dude that love when this typa thing happens. More attention, a challenge, more fanboys and girls buying more guitars.
Reminds me of that saying "I've got more talent in my little finger..."
This is loosely reminiscent of when Travis Barker broke his arm and was playing 1-handed
