This could have so many applications. How much did the screen itself cost?

One way to improve this is have 2 projectors, one on top and one on bottom this will reduce the shadows
It's a great project already, but they're using an ultra short throw projector, in order to reduce the shadows they should instead use two panels and an additional mirror to project on the rear of the glass from the top. This way the display doesn't shine at the viewers faces or on the ceiling either.

How does the light of projector go to the touchscreen? Have you used glasses?

does it have to be a kinect camera??? can it be a normal webcam ???...just askin:)
Kinect has 3D scanner functionality, you will notice it has 2 infrared components on it. The same way it works on the xbox to control the screen from movement in air. Normal webcam does not have this. You can pick up kinect sensors fairly cheap anyway I think

That is true you're right.
How is the latency on the touch responsiveness?
It hits a maximum at 30fps as that is the rate we can pull the data from the Kinect. But processing all the touches is only a few ms now. I can get you more details if you would like.
+John Hardy why dont you just use a normal tranparent touch screen? and put it on the other side where the projector isnt shining if you need a semi matt screen to shine on
With all the neat stuff that's been done with Kinect in the last 5 years, what's slowed advancement of this product? I remember little of the device but iirc it just stereoscopes an area with two cameras and calculates depth right? What's keeping it at 30FPS? Surely better cameras and lenses have come out, especially concerning core (GPU) processing.

Dmitry Golovkonot at all. the kinect is a ifrared 3d camera, while the ps kamera is, well, a camera.
