Gleicher Fall in Köln.
I am sorry but Nürnberg looks nothing like Cologne. People in Cologne destroyed the city after WWII again but in Nürnberg the city officials tried to keep the old streets and impression of a medieval city.
es bricht einem das Herz.
Ja mir auch!
I was in Nuremberg 2 years ago . Compared to other cities the restoration is not too bad , although they could have done a lot better in certain parts of the city centre .There are some quite ugly modern buildings in the main central square , and maybe with time they will be rebuilt . As I often say , it is possible to be modern and beautiful !
Toll gemacht.
Danke ☺️
Deberia ser reconstruida
Not just Germany, I think the world lost an amazing city when Nuremberg was destroyed. I do wonder though: since it was considered a major city (second to Munich in Bavaria), had it survived the war, would it still be the same or would the government have modernized parts of it? Thanks for posting this video, along with others that show it in its pre-war splendor. I wish I could have walked through it before the war. What an experience to walk through the narrow streets and look up at such marvelous facades.
They would have definitely modernized it. Nürnberg was an old medieval city with tiny tiny houses with low ceilings, small windows and tiny rooms. Lots of those houses not suitable for a modern city and their inhabitants. Lots of them with miserable living conditions. No heating in most of the rooms except the kitchen, no baths of course... And I guess even the alternative timeline 50s and 60s without WWII would have torn down a lot of old buildings for new ones
@@eily_b Bamberg wasn't destroyed in ww2 and the historical inner city is a UNESCO world heritage site today. But Bamberg ist a modern city today, too and the same could have happend with Nuremberg.
@@ArchitekturTV The current (modern) Pellerhaus facade is ugly (I'm not against modern architecture but this is not a good example of it, and replacing an iconic building with something so radically different is just wrong). As a foreigner who decades ago fell in love with Nuremberg (and have been back several times), I wish it would be restored.
Oh my good! Everything has gone except for the church, town hall and the castle. Everything else is “look a like buildings” or quite new buildings.
Cool though you have kept the streets more or less as they were.
I think a visit to Nuremberg must be a terrible disappointment for most of us, thinking of Nuremberg as a very old Middle Age town.
Some tiny parts are still there, i recommend you my Nuremberg today video 👍
I do recommend not to visit Nuremberg. It is indeed a huge disappointment. Also, the city officials are quite happy with their inferior reconstruction and actually put up hurdles to anyone who wants to go for a full, authentic reconstruction.
I think they did an awesome job keeping the old property layouts. Please keep in mind that 90% of the city was destroyed in WWII. Every "old" house you see today was also destroyed and then rebuilt after the war. For some houses they just decided to rebuild them more modern because the old ones were deemed not suitable anymore.
Horror y barbarie. Odio insaciable.
Sad video… they did the Pellerhouse dirty 😢 Looks like sh… today
Yes it does. The area called Sebald and no building survived there. People called it „Sebalder Wüste“ which means Sebalder desert because of the sandstone ruins. In front of the Pellerhouse is a statue from Kaiser Wilhelm, you can see some bullet holes on it.
At least part of it survived and could be rebuilt (the facade is still ugly, though). On the other hand, other beautiful buildings like the nearby Toplerhaus were a total loss. The entire neighborhood was destroyed and is thoroughly modern today.
Btw not much about Munich on this channel 🤔
Good idear! 😊
Nothing left from the most unique medieval city in the world because of the barbarian Allies🤬Whát an ugly, disgusting, boring buildings nowadays, the Soul has dissapeared forever,500 years of History gone within 2years😱
And nothing left of Rotterdam, Coventry, Warsaw, Belgrade, Musk, Smolensk, Kiev, .. Thanks to the 'civilised' Nazi Germans respecting human lives and hundreds of years of culture .... not.
It's not true that there's nothing left, quite a lot of it did get reconstructed. Just compare Nuremberg to Frankfurt, another formerly unique medieval city.
Also, the destruction can't solely be blamed on the Allies in this case (unlike Dresden for example). Much of Nuremberg was damaged when American ground troops took the city in battle.
And those ' civilised' Nazis couldn"t care less about destroying Warsaw, Rotterdam, Dunkirk, Coventry, London, Exeter, Liverpool, Manchester, Belgrade, Minsk, Smolensk, Kiev, .... And hundreds of cities and towns across Europe ....
"Barbarian allies" lol
🇺🇲🇨🇵🇬🇧🇷🇺
They are rebuilding old buildings, it’s the same in France and many other countries in Europe
