The sunny hot day put Federer in trouble, and Berdych was also ruthless with nothing to lose. But as the afternoon progressed, the sun subsided and then Roger found his energy and game to complete the comeback.

They've slowed down the hard courts in recent memory, and I think it's partially why Djokovic has had such success. He's all defense and the slow courts favor that
@@TheGodsMustBeCrazy Although I completely agree that slower courts favor Djokovic but I wish people would stopping calling his or even Murray's style defensive. Even Federer himself said in an interview that he doesn't consider these two's style defensive, their shots do have more spin and less speed but are a still lot more penetrating than it appears on camera and their placement is immaculate.
Really? Not from where I'm standing. You can't just win two straight sets in a Grand Slam match. Federer won three in a row afterwards, and was never under much threat either in those three.
No he wouldn't. What set the big 4 apart wasn't their aggression but their ability to defend and win the big points. Berdych, Tsonga, Cilic, Del Potro were all big hitters with high peaks and great results. They never maintained such ultra high levels over the course of a few weeks let a lone a full season. The last player with that type of style to be no1 was Marat Safin and he was smaller than all those guys and a better mover and his peak did not last either. Injuries pile up on big guys faster. Realistically Pete was big power player to be no1 ans he dominated the sport. But the game was very different and he relied on fast courts with little success. So no, Berdych would not have been no1 with this form. Novak, Rafa and probably murray who are better defenders would have stopped him. Just look at his h2h against them.
In 2009, Delpo, Berdych, Davydenko, and Soderlin were playing really well.
And Roger got his French open, what an interesting year.
Berdych’s forehand is like a laser.

Exactly but Berdych by being absolute ruthless showed when he is on his god mode is absolutely invincible
Doesn't heat make the court faster? If so then it should help federer.

I don't know how Federer won this game. Berdych was on fire ! OMG

Nadal was unironically better on faster HC`s in this period if you look at his performances and W`s.

He certainly did not. In fact, Federer outplayed Nadal for the entirety of the first four sets.
