Do they forget those games like colts v Vikings from 2 yrs ago ever happened? Or what happened to this team in the NFC championship game? They won't ever let a team get back in a game because they have respect for the opponent.
@@joechriste7052 That’s fair when you’re playing a playoff contender. Maybe not so much when playing a failing franchise. It’s not worth the risk. Sure, you don’t take them out at half, but when it’s obvious the game is over, then at least take out a few of the starters halfway through the third. Losing players to injury is the the thing that can stop the Lions, and nothing else.
They couldn't stop the run game, they couldn't stop the pass game. What do they expect, Lions to take kneel downs in the 3rd quarter because they are up by 3 touchdowns?
It still boggles my mind. The Lions 2021,2022 and 2023 draft classes have to be top 3 team defining drafts in NFL history. Now the Lion’s can’t reenact the 2013 Tigers. Finish this!
The NFL is not being played by preteens. Yes, elementary school kids. So the "mercy rule" shouldn't be applied. *Also, running up the score is necessary UNTIL it is THEORETICALLY/MATHEMATICALLY impossible to lose, which even with 40 points ahead is still possible with 5 game minutes left.*
Anyone who questions the Lions "running up the score" needs to remember the MANY times a close game was left in the hands of a referee - referees who saw a phantom face mask on Aaron Rodgers that allowed the Hail Mary, referees who picked up a flag on the Cowboys for PI in the playoffs, not calling the face mask penalty on the Bills as Diggs scored a game winning TD... and on and on and on. The Lions are doing the smart thing: Take the game out of the hands of the refs... especially if they meet the Chiefs in the SuperBowl.
Running up the score as a concept is almost always BS at the pro level and probably most times in college. It has some validity at lower levels where the talent levels may be wildly different. How much is enough? At what point are you supposed to not play your game? Best way to keep the other team from "running up the score" is to keep them from scoring once or twice. The Jaguars are supposed to be professional football players. It's not Detroit's fault that Jacksonville wasn't better at it. One day a team is going to lose because they stop trying to score and the other team comes back. Then the conversation will be different. It is not respectful to your opponent to act in a way that implies "We don't think you can ever come back so we are going to treat you like babies and stop trying."
I don't remember any team not taking advantage of clowning on Lions when they had the chance in years past. Matter of fact I rember teams clowning on the Lions, then the league clowning on the clowning of the Lions after the game.
These folks who are questioning how long the starters were in have never spent a second of their life in the shoes of an HC. In such a situation, my rule was that I will begin taking my starters out when the opposition begins taking theirs out.
Do we have to listen to millionaire football players, coaches, and owners crying about someone running up the score? You guys put your name on the dotted line for that money, you know what this is. There aren’t any mercy games at this pay grade, ball out or shut up.
Absolutely loved Dan owning Costa on that question😂 Pulling starters in the early 3rd quarter is ridiculous
That's would be more disrespectful then keeping the starters out there!

You can't rest everybody
"we're just playing football" - the perfect answer
NEVER pull our starters in the 3rd quarter!!! EVER!!! Thank you MCDC!!! True Football guy! 💯🙌

Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph are key! Smash & Grab baby!!!!!
And that's the bottom line because Dan campbell said so.😂😂😂😂😂
For the Lions to take their foot off the gas or pull starters too early would be akin to awarding themselves with a "participation trophy."
Dan learned about letting up from the san fran play off game....keep winning one pride!!

The jags definitely had “one as cheek and three toes”. … and they did in fact “beat their ass” ❤❤❤

U play to win not to not lose but there has to be a balance to it

Every other teams fans saying the lions are bullying their team can gtfoh the lions have been bullied for decades now it’s finally our time
same questions : is it hard to coach when youre winning? how do you replace x injured player?
Is Dan contractually obligated to do these?
We'll be okay without Alex. We're on pace to only punt three or four more times total for the remaining 7 games.
This isn't a middle school lunch room.
It's the NFL.
If you don't like it, stop them.

Jack fox is pissed he’s not punting? Haha he maybe he should go play for a worse team
You really think he was being serious??
