    I would love to have a repeatable upright swing but has never worked for me. I am a flat swing. Staying closer to the hitting plane during the swing always made more sense to me, aka, David Duval, Jeff Maggart, Ben Hogan.

    Shawn; I’ve been playing golf since I was 12. Was scratch in college, a 4 in 1996 and quit the game in 2000. Was too busy to practice. Fast forward to NOW, took the game up again in 2017 in and forgot more than I ever knew, but thanks to you and a few other coaches, I now believe I know more about the game than I ever did when I played my best golf.
    Have been floundering for 5 years trying to take my range play out to the course. Never could until I subscribed to your channel and embraced your conceptual (metaphysical) approach to the game. It’s spot on of course and is LIBERATING to forget about the damn positions!
    I shot 82 Monday, 78 on Tuesday and 75 Thursday with FOUR 3-putt greens. 2 birdies in that round so imagine if I’d putted well. My ONLY swing key today is to remain relaxed as I swing the club, turning my back to the target. And on the way down, I no longer THINK AT ALL about hips or anything EXCEPT for “cutting the dandelion stem” as I swing out toward the target. That’s truly all we need. Give the brain a command telling them body WHERE to be at impact and just swing and the brain will handle it ,,, as long as we don’t allow ourselves to get in the way of the main task! You’re the best!

      @@golflessons Thx, Shawn. I’m a highly critical thinker and learned a long time ago that if I am going to criticize anyone or anything I need to pay AT LEAST as much respect to those people who take the time to HELP me, and when they do, I become a HUGE advocate for that person. Humans not always that good in acknowledging mentors and coaches who help them. And you’ve helped me a great deal. It’s all, as you know, “between the ears.” I finally have a range game that translates to the course, thanks to you! 🙏🏻🏌

      The width of the swing is what creates consistency in shot making and the feet was to explain his distance to ball compensation which he has dealt with amazingly well since his junior days.

  • @joeldriver3971

    Sheffler's swing at the top has his hands really high and is pointing right at the target in a perfect position, similar to Bubba Watson even though they both take it pretty upright to get there. It's easier to come down into the slot from there because you don't have to manipulate the club hardly at all to do that. There's not much hand manipulation going through the ball when you watch him so it's easy to hit it pretty straight and he pretty much never misses it left which is death for a right handed golfer. I'll be interested to see how long he can play at this level.

  • @scribnick

    Hey Shawn, my irons are playing like never before when I use your nail in a doorframe task! I hit a power fade every time. If I’m trying to hit a draw, should I feel like my back stays facing the target slight longer than when I hit a fade? I saw a comment on a different video of yours from someone and was wondering if this is a good feel to try and work in. Thanks as always for your awesome teaching. You’re the best out there by a long shot.

    I wanna say that your extremely cupped left wrist(at the top) is a good match for your extremely strong grip. Same as the bowed left wrist matches up to the weaker grip(Jon Rahm). I can only think of one player that uses the bowed left wrist, WITH a strong grip. DJ. His insane hip rotation, with his insane amount of right side bend allows him to do this. However, this is not recommended for mere mortals. lol

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 роки тому +3

      Completely agreed! And the bowed wrist to square the club is in second place to not use for the mere mortals! 😝😝
      You don’t see any baseball hitters using a bowed wrist and a very large percentage of bowed wrist users have had to get surgeries on that wrist.

    • @jamiesloan7259
      @jamiesloan7259 2 роки тому +1

      @@golflessons I play with a slightly weak grip, and the feeling of the bowed left wrist, makes me turn harder, and not release the club too soon. I’m hitting it straighter than ever. However, I’m 6’2, 220lbs with pretty strong wrists, and forearms. Even at that, it took some training to make that wrist position feel solid. If I had it to do over, I’d play your style. It looks like a lot less effort. lol I’ve experimented with EVERYTHING through the years, and the strong grip just sent the ball left for me. I will say that this was BEFORE I learned how to “turn” properly. Your swing style is unique, but it obviously works great. Your daughter, and son-in-law also hit the ball amazing.
