  • In this podcast, I meet with the host and cohost of the World of Brickfilms podcast. Both Seán and Will are extremely informed brickfilmers with a rich understanding of the history, culture, and communities surrounding the brickfilming tradition. We cover a wide range of topics in this video, including a brickfilm review at the end with a "horror" focus. I had such a great time chatting with these guys, and can't recommend this episode and their podcast enough!

    For those wondering, Seán did in fact find the mystery gory brickfilm I described as a huge inspiration to my young self. I don't know about you, but I think it holds up 😎 ua-cam.com/video/gA1Hqf-0IAc/v-deo.html

    I decided to watch this podcast in the hopes of getting some insight on how to get more views. Surprisingly, the people on that podcast mention me by name, claiming that I don't seem like a person who cares about views. I am conflicted and utterly embarrassed.
    Thanks for talking about my film though. This was fun to listen to. 😅

      Haha hey Joshua! Can't speak for everyone, but I think our perception was that your priority was making great, original art. I mean, let's be real - who doesn't want as many views as possible 😅 Thanks for watching and keep up the good work!

      The title is funny because our answer to the question it poses is more or less "You don't" lol

      @@sillypenta Pretty much. Getting discovered by new viewers is hard for all youtubers, but brickfilmers have a whole host of additional hurdles. You almost need to be insanely prolific with trendy content or have a whole team at your disposal.
      However, with how popular short form content is getting, I think that a person who masters advertising their longer brickfilms with intriguing short-form content will open a channel for attaining more subscribers than usual.

      @@TwistedBricks It's funny how you mention short content, because I just recently started making shorts for my channel, one of which already brought in 2K+ views and 11 new subscribers. Wherever advertising is concerned, I think shorts is the way to go.

    I'm at the part where they are talking about frame rates, and im just curious: what's the advantage of animating on twos at 24 fps compared to just animating at 12 fps?

    • @TwistedBricks
      @TwistedBricks  Рік тому +2

      I would say it’s because you can jump between 12 and 24 fps throughout the animation, using 12 for slower movements and 24 for more fluid/high-speed movements.

      The main thing I use it for is that the camera moves on ones while the figures move on twos

    Hey, not sure if youre ever gonna see this. Not sure about the progeress of the stopmotion movie youre filming but you could buy and build a big ol monster outa bionicle parts and cover it in clay for for some kind of titanic beast. Im asuming you couldnt fit that in any of the scenes but its a cool concept

      That's a fun idea! I actually did something kind of like that in this episode: ua-cam.com/video/dUd7gxKlJPk/v-deo.html
