Not a Mizuno fan but once i hit a few balls with these I was sold, the sound, feel and performance were spot on. Straight in the bag and not looked back.
I've been a loyal Mizuno iron for nearly 30 years. MP14 were in my bag for nearly +8yrs. Then I moved to the MP33 (in my opinion their best iron ever) those stayed in my bag for 14 years (2 sets) - I then went to the JPX 900 Forged for nearly 7 yrs - UNTIL - I went and tested the Mizuno 245. - GAME CHANGER - Unbelievable amount of tech and performance. At age 62 I was hitting the 7 iron 175-180 (carry) - 15 yds longer per club. I don't see these as a "distance iron" instead it should be called a "Dispersion killer". My carry yardage tightened up by about +/- 5 yds. I don't want my 7 iron on the fly 180 - so I had my Mizuno 245 irons loft lowered by 4 degrees ( from 30 degrees to 34 degrees) - my carry yardage for my 7 iron is now 170 and my normal ball flight is in a little higher window (105 - 110") - but I can easily knock down my shots with these irons as well. I did have to adjust my wedges to accommodate the yardage of my PW (130-135yds) so I got a gap wedge that carries 120-125 yds / SW 110yds - 115yds / 58" wedge for 90-105 yds. I only carry PW to 5 iron - then put in a 5 hybrid 185-195yds and 7 wood 210-220 yds. Took out my 3 wood and added a 5 wood (because I can hit it much better in the fairway and still get nearly the same yardage as a 3 wood off the tee. for my 230-245yds shots. Best iron Mizuno has ever made.
Mizuno looks good on you!. You've mentioned "things" happening in your life. Hope you are doing okay? When things settle fill us in so we don't worry. Your swing has not been damaged nonetheless! Take care Al!
I have real issues with Mizuno! I'm obsessed with them! I wouldn't ever consider swinging another brand. Currently playing 225's and I love them. The yardages are off the chart, and accuracy is unbelievable compared to my previous MP-59's.
Which model of the JPX921? I actually played the JPX921 Tours for a couple seasons but was struggling with consistency hitting the middle of the face. Launch conditions weren't ideal, and I was having a lot of inconsistency with distance control. These 245's weren't out yet when I bought my clubs, and ended up switching to the Titleist T200 - which are essentially the same as these.
Hey Al, I have an idea. Find an old set of 845's silver scott irons and compare them to these Mizunos. I mean the 8 iron from the 845's was 40⁰. I would sure love to see the difference in the materials and how the ball jumps from the faces. Anyway, I'll get back to my day job. Love the content. ❤ 100 👍
243s with KBS Tour 130s will be in the bag pretty soon here. Debating on going to the 245 in the 4 iron just to get a little more out of it when I miss, but absolutely love the whole line.
Waiting on my set right now! One round on the monitor and every metric was better. Felt like butter and as good looking as they come. Sold immediately.
I play the 241 and they are pure magic. Didn't like 221. Had MP20 but these are beautiful looking and play so amazing. They launch the ball too so holding greens is no problem.. Great review Alex.
I got a chance to hit them along with the Titleist T100.. They felt really good. Thinking about switching from my Srixons back to either titleist or Mizuno
Rocking the 225s atm. Would be hard pressed to get them out of the bag. Also don’t mind the delayed review as these are in stores now so probably more relatable re timing than reviewing 2 months before we can see them.
my problem is, I bought the 245s and I kept the 225s to leave in Scotland, but I like the 245 SO much I'm thinking of buying ANOTHER set to replace the 225s. Help.
243's in the bag for me AL Project X LZ and MCC Plus 4 grips Tried them all But since I moved out of the Vega MB's 241's not on the radar And I don't regret it 243 is a perfect blend
I also have the 1st gen hollow MP-20 HMB, and thought the same as you, that I would move to the 245. However, when I tried the 245's I found that the MUCH smaller head size, which Mizuno seems to have gone with in order to entice more play-YAHs to try and use them, made them as difficult to use as a normal blade or player's cavity back. I demoed the 245 and was appalled at how unfriendly they were, despite the "friendly" hollow-body construction. I strongly suggest that you demo them OUTDOORS on grass before deciding. No astroturf demoing.
I have the mp20 hmb and recently bought the 245’s. Yes the 245’s are smaller and have less offset -not that different in my mind but yes different. They play about half a club longer. 8-pw feel better but interestingly I think 4-5 iron are a little louder. In my mind they are an upgrade but I do agree they also suit a slightly lower handicap range than the hmb did.
Long time mizuno lover, jpx850mfor a long time, hit these and the jpx 923 tour, prefer the tours. These felt hollow and tours felt very smooth and proper feedback. But could imagine that anyone could fall in love witness as well.
Im a scratch golfer and ordered the 245s. You can literally maneuver these clubs as much as the 241s. Also, I get just as much spin with them as I did with my titliest blades. Amazing clubs but they do take a little bit to get use to due to how much further they go. However, they are completely maneuverable and controllable. Amazing irons. Probably the best I’ve ever hit.
I'm a 16 index. Was down to a 13.1, but have had a lot of TERRIBLE rounds this year. I've shot anywhere from an 84 on my home course to a 107 on a 71/137 course. Would it even make sense to consider these? I can hit the ball well, I just don't play smart golf. Right now I hit my TM M5 7 iron 155 for reference. I do spray the ball though...
rock them feet, get that hip back, your body is a bullwhip, your shoulder is the handle..... and yyour boudy from your shoudler across to your back leg is the analog of your arm holding the bullwhip..... start your downswing with a rock the other way in your feet and a partial sitting motion, shifting forward weght and going to front heel, get your hands down faster and release the club as your hands aapproach your back thigh.... tee it high and let it fkn fly bro!!!
Big Al is a beast. His club head speed is not indicative of an average golfer by any stretch. Don’t feel bad, it made feel less of a man as well, 100mph 7 iron 😂😂😂. My driver barely touches 97. Only in my dreams could I justify putting these irons in my bag. I looked at them yesterday and they are absolutely beautiful works of art but I have no business playing with these. 17 handicap
Just had my son fitted for these irons. Fitted to the nippon modus 125 shafts in standard length. He was getting some impressive numbers with a 6 iron 205- 210 yards with the longest being 230. I'm lucky if I hit my 3 wood that far. May just have to get fitted for a set myself.
Still gaming the MP225 which I got as soon as they came out. As years take their toll on me, these clubs give me back the yards I have lost and they feel miles better than any other hollow body irons I have tried. Can't say I am getting anywhere close to 200yds with my 7 iron though!
Went from p790's (impulse decision) into 225's last year. The mizuno pro line all around feels incredible, will be gaming my 225's for years to come. Just wish i had gave the mizuno's a chance before the p790 purchase, could have saved some time and $$ haha
Nice one Al, been wondering when these new Mizzi’s were going to make an appearance. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on these against the 243’s. My MP 60’s are still serving me well but…….
i know im not good enough for the 241s, but i just cant get over the aggressive loft specs of the 243 or 245s. i prefer my irons with 33-35 loft. not 28-32
They're almost the same club - add in the Titleist T200....very similar performance from all of them. I ended up in the T200's - the launch conditions on the day were better for me - although I'm sure I would have been happy with any of them.
Don't worry about what clubs you use, get lessons and improve your technique. At 18, clubs will make next to no difference. Improve your game and your course management.
@@sandersson2813 I agree that lessons are a better investment than new clubs. If the 18 handicap is using less forgiving clubs - then there is definite benefit in a club upgrade....in conjunction with the lessons in a perfect scenario.
I had yhem for years. Man were they good! About 6 years ago I went and got the JPX900'S. Really like them but now it's time for the 245's. They look very promising.
Put them head to head against the T150s....thought the 150s actually felt more like Mizuno's than the...Mizunos. Preferred the top line of the Titleist's too; thought the 245 was a little beefy
Why not the T100s? I like both the T150s and T100s, along with the MP 241s. I thought kind of the same thing, that the Ts had a really great feel in my hands, very nice thin top line, and felt really good at impact. But I just couldn't get the spin rate up at that 7k mark on the 7i as consistently as I could the 241. I'm trying to figure out which irons to get and it's so difficult. I'm also looking at the Blueprint 2, which also has a less beefy top line than the 241, and I can get the desired spin rate more consistently than the Ts. So tough!
@hoejyland: The T-series from Titleist is similar to this series from Mizuno. The T100 is like the 241, T150 is like the 243 and the T200 is like the 245.
Mizuno is great and all.. played mp32 for my first set, then bought a set of mp18 which I loved the most. But I found a set of Miura mb101 irons on marketplace for fairly cheap. So I couldn’t pass them up. Don’t care for a 7 to go 200 yards, I like absolutely no roll out and accuracy in my shots. All the power to everyone chasing distance and forgiveness though. It’s just not for me.
Had my first set of Mizuno, which were the Mizuno MP-32’s then swapped them for the MP-4’s which in my opinion are the best irons ever made. Wish I’d have kept them

Hahaha little hands.. Cleveland zip core xl will out preform zuno. U got to play a round with them. You have to test them. . I'm in us and shooting ab 95 , with a month of playing them drop to 86. I'm 39yd old haven't broken 80 since I quit in 2010 from a broken leg on dirtbike. Cleveland so underrated. Please test.
Awful idea making a player friendly iron soo small , the original HMB was great and the 225 was great but it’s definitely frightened people off with the size . You may as well just get some of the larger CB’s on the market like the Takomo’s which are unbelievable for the price
I guess that’s one opinion. I am a mid handicapper that grew up on blades when I started in the 90s. I personally love a thin top line and the look of a blade. I cannot hit a giant game improvement iron because I find the chunky profiles hideous. So for me the 245 is amazing. I’ve had mine for two months now and I adore them.
Not a Mizuno fan but once i hit a few balls with these I was sold, the sound, feel and performance were spot on. Straight in the bag and not looked back.

Do a give away Al so I have a chance to win these. Sooo filthy.. But so is the price!
CLEAN THE DAMN CLUB BEFORE GIVING CLOSE UPS
