Love your down to earth point here about how great this camera is and if you are really wanting to take photos and not have a status symbol, you can do it VERY affordably. L glass is nice but you show that most people wont know if it was used or not too. Great video.
I have a 5D I pull out every once in a while and it gets the job done. Love this video Happy Holidays to all those freaks and freakettes who love videos on old digital cams, ccd sensors, and Carmines vast wealth of camera knowledge.
I have had the 7d since 2010 its current shutter count last time I checked was around 750,000 . Most of the paint has worn off the top plate it’s covered in dents and the top screen no longer works but other than that its still a fantastic camera and built like a tank
Great buy Carmine, clever soloution to the dial issue, I think the 7D was particualry desirable to sport and wildlife photographers with that 8 frames/second shutter which was impressive in its day. There are some really great gems among that era of Canon APSC's.
I bought my 7D new in 2013 with a Canon 400mm f5.6 L lens. The Canon Rep was in our local store that day and i got a great deal on both of them. The auto focus on this camera is astounding. Takes great bird and wildlife pictures. I was even thinking recently of using it with the 50mm f1.4 for street photography. 😊
I bought this camera and a Sigma 150-600mm sport lens for a very low price less than two years ago as he could not hand hold it for birds. Together it scaled around 7lbs 10oz. Along with a very good manual. I have had two old CF cards fail losing the photos. Thier is talk of CF cards that will use a SD or micro-SD card with mixed results.
Hii Carmine! I’ve been binge watching all of your videos. I’m honestly intrigued with all the cameras I’ve seen, but I’m looking for one that takes great photos like for memories of myself, friends, and family even on nights out and one that also takes videos! Any recommendations?
That's great to hear! I'm glad you're enjoying the channel. For taking great photos and videos, I recommend checking out the Nikon 1 V1 and 10-30mm lens, www.mpb.com/en-us/product/nikon-1-v1/sku-2560722 www.mpb.com/en-us/product/nikon-1-nikkor-vr-10-30mm-f-3-5-5-6/sku-2792559
I've got one but tend to use my nikon p610 coz with extended battery holder it weighs a metric tonne😂...plus you need a PhD in photography to use the confounded thing in manual mode...it does. Make a decent emergency anchor though😂
About throwing away CF cards, I take out cards from new cameras I buy and simply format them on a computer using the long format method. Not quick format. This wipes everything from the card including malware.
"Deep" formatting a memory card will erase all visible data, it does not necessarily remove all viruses, as some malicious code can embed itself deep within the card's file system, potentially surviving a "deep" format operation. Key points to remember: Deep-seated viruses: Certain viruses can infect the system level of a memory card, going beyond the readily accessible file structure that a "deep" format would wipe out.

Your right, it keeps on ticking, like a TIMEX :)

That’s a great setup and the 7D will serve you well!
Thanks for the video from a few posts back about that cool filter that makes circular patterns. Got ao few nice shots with it on Xmas day.
Hi Carmine I currently use the 7D as my main camera, very happy with it.
Great to hear!

CF cards that will use an SD or micro-SD card have very poor reviews...do not use them :(
Bought a 7d last month, takes great photos, still learning it's loaded with kinds bells and whistles

You might have convinced me to try a Canon.

Carmine, the world is going out of 1GB memory cards and you´re throwing them away!
