I finished watching this video series last week. I did my best to apply what Chris taught. My scores went from the range of 18 - 22 to (ta.da.....) 23 - 25 today. I shot four rounds with scores as follows: 24, 25, 23, 23. It's not a chance event. I am certain that Chris taught me what I was doing wrong and showed me how to change my. technique for a much better outcome. Thanks Chris. You are a very good teacher. Ken
I love the tip of staying down the gun through the shot, something I was forgetting to do this past weekend. Too easy to be excited by hitting the target.
What I do mate is on my glasses I put a bit of small black tape on my left eye (Because I shoot right handed but I'm left eye dominate). The black tape doesn't block my view but it unconsciously makes my left eye not focus. This makes me able to shoot with 2 eyes open and the bit of black tape doesn't make that much of a difference to your sight.
Thanks for all your videos Chris. It almost feels like cheating! I've never shot a shotgun in my life and will be starting on trap on Sunday. I've been practicing my gun mount in the mirror and trying to take in all your tips. I expect to be hitting a few.
It's surprisingly difficult isn't it? I started with just a fixed trap going almost straight ahead and it still took me about 40 shots before I was hitting relatively consistently. I need a LOT more practice! I shot 80 altogether on the day and left with quite a sore cheek. Though the shoulder was fine.
I hope you mean "can't" :-) I shot a normal target load bought from our local gun shop. 28gm 24mm 7 1/2 shot It was surprisingly easy on my shoulder at least. The guy helping me said I was probably not holding the gun locked in enough on my cheekbone which is why it hurt. I felt I was but 80 shots was probably a bit too much for a very first time. Sorry it takes me so long to reply. my notifications doesn't seem to be working ATM.
Thats a poor choice of words as a coach "Where were you looking!?" It'd also be more benificial to provide words of encouragement instead of telling them what not to do. -"Don't lift your head" vs "Try to keep your head down in the position through your shot"
"Where were you looking" was great choice. The instructor had the confidence the shooter was smart to figure out where he should have been looking and where he looked. For your other nitpick - "don't lift your head up" is way better than your oblique suggestion (even there is don't). 1) Keep the instructions short and simple 2) Don't treat your students as morons.
People need to know what to fix this is what builds confidence Chris teaches to what you need to remember. Who’s got time for soft teaching when you need impactful teaching.

Moving slow to the bird is a best advice. I force myself to move to clay slowly and it helps a lot. Improved my scores from 14-15 to 20-22.
Fabulous series. Chris Batha is the best clay coach on UA-cam. Thank you!

Good job Chris, I have learned a lot from watching this series of videos.
Chris what do you think about eye dominance?
I have so much from you because I shoot left handed. does it matter if I'm right eye dominant? I want to shoot with both eyes open. Thank you.

Where was this video filmed please?
Isn't the eyecam a bit to high on the barrel? (Or i just do it wrong :D)
Shot my first 25 at the club, at a collegiate shoot.
Thanks for all your videos Chris.

How did it go?

For a first time you can expect much more! Nice one!
Did you go for a light load?
I hope you mean "can't" :-)

How much $ is that K-80?
great advice :-)
When I shoot I aim right at the clay target and as soon as my bead is on it I shoot. I mean I have never got a 25 yet I usually get between 17-22.
Next time out try to see the front edge of the target and shoot at it while keeping the gun moving.

Hi
I think the main problem is his ugly ass vest. Go Gators!!!

Not everyone is a snowflake and not able to be critiqued. I would rather hear it straight up vs. sugarcoating it. Simply tell me what I'm doing wrong!
