Hi Brian, yes I should have actually said it can't get damaged due to damp as it has no wood, but can still get a leak, but this won't cause damage to the composite material.
So it’s got 160kg payload? minus the weight of the quad mover/spare wheel/auxiliary battery/ gas bottles etc not much left for a 2 ton van? Also with the UK government banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2030, your going to have to have a very good battery in your electric car and a good charging network to move that any distance?
Fantastic caravan and fantastic video in my opinion worth the money because when you look around what else could you do with 40 grand I also believe if placed on a seasonal pitch and looked after the caravan could last 30 years it's basically a second home
Lovely van , very well appointed , very reasonably priced compared to a MH. Wish we could get that layout on a MH. Well done Mark another great video .
I agree with you, especially with a big dog, I've not found a MH that can compete on floor space with a caravan. I'm not anti MH, I would like one but as you say the layouts aren't there, even in the big Carthago my mate has just bought.
Hi Mark My Vanmaster 640 has the Flow system and I don’t have to run both gas and electric together for the constant hot water. Most sites have 2kw and the flow system works well on electric or gas only. No A/C, no self levelling makes the price seem a bit steep as the extra kit isn’t particularly expensive stuff. The WiFi is a MIFI unit which doesn’t lend itself well to streaming. For £80 you can get a 4G router from tp-link which is leagues better. I like the zoned heating but doesn’t really justify its price.
Iv Just mentioned your comment to someone else who has the flow too, saves on the gas so if you are ok on just electric, its much better. Thanks for your comments 👍
Lovely van. It's based on the Swift 835 (we have the Challenger X version). One thing I noticed is that the Alde storage tank didn't look like it was in the cupboard next to the shower - where is it in this model? Also, a lot of people forget to show that storage cupboard. It's really useful for towel storage and, as you say, it's a lovely huge bathroom. One of the biggest I'd say.
Hi Andy, its just the other side in the bedroom tall cupboard so does free that bathroom one up nicely. Yes huge bathroom, your challenger x is a lovely van too. 👍
Aww thank you guys! Love watching your videos.. Makes me feel so happy! Counting down to seeing my 2019 Elddis Zephyr in 3 weeks x (wish that was 8ft wide) 😄😄
At 40K for a 4 berth I’m not impressed at all . I Don’t think it’s a beautiful van at all , but maybe it’s something you just have to experience rather than see on video, to get the real feel of it. I expected luxury and couldn’t see what was so extra that it warrants that price. Nope… I’d pass it by. Thanks so much for your informative video Mark . I know there are many who will love it.
How is the caravan market preparing for 2030. I understand that many electric cars have not been approved to tow?. Are they working with car manufacturers to prepare for this as it could have a massive effect on the market? 🤔
Alko have a assisted chassis to help with electric tow cars. We have about 5% of people already using electric tow cars, so it will be a slow move. But petrol and diesel cars won't just be removed from the earth, they will still be used.
Thanks for this video, I have a Coachman Laser 665 and I thought I had read the Alde instructions but I wasn't aware I needed both gas and electric to be on for booster to work. I suppose it makes sense really! I took it to Spain for 2 months in Jan/Feb 2020 just before COVID and like a lot of others I tried to minimise my electric use on site as it was monitored and wasn't cheap so I left the Alde on gas. It wasn't a big issue as I usually shower in site facilities (until COVID!). It will be useful to know for future. George; South Yorkshire
Hi George, thanks for your comments, its recommended to use both to get the best flow of hot water, but someobe else has said they use on just electric and it works perfectly, so worth a try, I suppose it depends how long you spend in the shower. Thanks for watching 👍
Very Nice caravan, are you sure about the two zone heating? I think that is just a remote thermostat, as far as I’m aware the Alde system can only heat the unit as one zone, be interested to know?
I think you will find that it just enables you to prioritise either the bedroom or living space thermostat, so at night you can set the bedroom temperature to what you want & during the day you prioritise the living area, I have the same on my Coachman.
Another interesting video. We are new to caravanning and waiting for our 2022 model to be built. Have you ever thought of doing a video on the delays with caravan manufacturing at the moment? I’ve heard horror stories of people who are still waiting for their 2021 caravans to be built, and some of them have been waiting nearly 12 months!
Hi, its very much a personal choice as its what suits you, your family and also your tow car. Once you know what you can tow, then have a walk through different layouts and see what feels right for you. You will soon figure it out and also what makes and models that you like. Nobody can tell you what is best for you sorry.
Caravans and motorhomes have gone through the roof because of COVID-19 nobody wants to go abroad anymore so therefore dealers are putting the prices up because They know people want to pay to go on holiday in England so basically it’s 40 grand because he’s trying his luck just being honest
Thanks for your comments Mark. We have kept profit margins the same as we have always worked on, its just now we are paying a lot more for the carvans due to the demand, but also with the rise in new caravan prices the used caravans will also go up in price to be in line with new prices. I think this bessacarr next year will be another £1500 more once the season starts back up and the new models are all sold out, but the chance of getting another one will be next to non.
Actually Swift smart construction Leaks like mad and because there is no wood used in the construction of the body just means that the wood interior your seats and cabinets rot out
It doesn't seem expensive, well appointed with quality gear, mostly. There are lots of vans at that price and more over here in Australia. The composite build often has a 7 year warranty against leaks over here. Plus it usually has a high level of insulation.
You mention quality gear, all British caravans tend to use the same”gear” but have more or less gear depending on price. Everything is either Thetford, Truma or Dometic and the level of ability rises with the price. My van has just about everything you can throw at it but it’s the same stuff you’ll find in most vans. To have a £40k van without A/C or levelling seems strange when at least levelling is found on Elddis, Coachman and possibly some top end Swift models at almost £10k less. The payload of 165kg means you’ll have to cut your toothbrush in half to remain legal whilst towing. All seems too much for a van, which when you’ve spent the £5k needed to bring it up to spec only has about 100kg left in the load margin. The maths just doesn’t make sense for the money.
Very nice van but I would prefer a much bigger lounge and kitchen was very poor in size and no work surfaces of any size which is a must have ok having big bathrooms but you don't spend much time in there like kitchen and lounge
Yes when you have the fixed bed the lounge is always a bit smaller, but being the 8ft it makes a huge difference and feels very spacious to be fair. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
I can't find it, I would be buying it. The new have now gone up to 45 plus the extras so about 47k for the new 22 model and the 23 model will be getting on for 50k.

Yes it can't suffer from damp. It can however leak but because of the construction it won't get damaged due to damp. A damp meter is not used to check this construction type. Thanks for your comments and for watching.

Which tow vehicle do you need for a caravan of this weight?
It needs something with a towing capacity over 2000kg. We used a landrover discovery which you didn't know it was on the back.
