It is no doubt the cat could do some serious damage with a jaw lock and back foot rakes, but while the monkey could get hurt it would also most definitely kill the cat in the process. Most primates can use much more of their strength than humans as humans have built in blocks to prevent damage that take extraordinary emotional and chemical upset to bypass. Also the monkey is far more flexible in the limbs than a cat and has 5 grasping appendages while a cat has none. To understand the strength of most primates simply think of a story of an incredible strength feat where say a mother moved an impossibly heavy object like a car to get to her child. Now imagine she could move that car when ever she wanted.

I worked at a wildlife rescue/rehab place for a couple of years. And witnessed a horrific event. A domestic cat ventured too close to the spider monkey enclosure. The poor cat was eviscerated within a matter of seconds. I quickly chased the monkeys off and we rushed the cat to the vet. The cat survived but lost a foreleg. I remember the tears rolling down my face as I carried the dying animal into the vet's office. I wanted to adopt that animal, but a volunteer wanted her as well. As I already had a dog I let the volunteer have her. This was decades ago. I hope that cat had a nice life!

It's dirt and shit lol. My cat once punctured my hand really deep and it infected the area between my knuckles really badly, but wasn't too hard to get rid of. But it was definitely all the dirt and litter and whatever else was in his paws.

To the people who express disgust at this video. Fair. The monkey is being far too aggressive and the humans around do literally nothing to handle it. However, the Cat shows us why they didn't. The Cat can very much take care of itself. The key moment that would have necessitated intervention is if the Cat had let out a full howl(which i never heard) or if the monkey had pressed its luck once the cats claws were sharp to its liking. You will never see a distressed cat lay its head on the floor during a fight or flight moment, the head will be up, giving its whiskers, nose and ears every advantage. The cat could have left at any time and those that think otherwise don't appreciate how capable a cat is at extricating itself from a dangerous situation.

But the small cats are not like the big cats who can take down animals that are bigger then their own seize. The small cats are evolved to hunt prey that is a lot smaller than themselves. The monkey is lager, stronger and smarter and have the ability to grapple.

A domestic cat ventured too close to the spider monkey enclosure. The poor cat was eviscerated within a matter of seconds.
I quickly chased the monkeys off and we rushed the cat to the vet.
The cat survived but lost a foreleg.
I remember the tears rolling down my face as I carried the dying animal into the vet's office.
I wanted to adopt that animal, but a volunteer wanted her as well. As I already had a dog I let the volunteer have her.

Fair. The monkey is being far too aggressive and the humans around do literally nothing to handle it. However, the Cat shows us why they didn't. The Cat can very much take care of itself. The key moment that would have necessitated intervention is if the Cat had let out a full howl(which i never heard) or if the monkey had pressed its luck once the cats claws were sharp to its liking. That was about to go from playtime with an asshole sibling to homicide, very quickly. Cat are exceptional communicators. It gave the final warning. And monkey chose life.
Idk what you know about spider monkeys but if the cat had attacked it would likely have ended up with a broken spine. Monkey was being merciful.
