The Pashupatinath temple Nepal has an origin that dates back to the Kirat era. Nepal's oldest statue (Birupakshya) from Kirati era is inside the Pashupatinath temple. Birupakshya statue was built by Kirati people in ancient times.
But the Pashupatinath temple caretakers and priests are the Indian Brahmins. This tradition of having Indian Brahmins at the Pashupatinath temple was started by the Malla King in the 14th century. Another thing. There was no Hindu caste system during the Kirat dynasty. It was the Licchavis who introduced the Hindu caste system in Nepal after they defeated the Kirat. The Malla King later modified the Hindu Caste System with the help of the Indian Brahmins whom he invited. Ever since the Indian Brahmins were appointed as caretakers and priests of the Pashupatinath temple. Now we must make changes again. We must let the Kirati priest be in charge of the Pashupatinath temple.
